The die was cast hundreds of years ago and long before the 13 colonies.
Rather obsessed with being the opposition, Democrat Leaders and others actively undermine the Iraq policy with bellicose rants from the likes of Ted Kennedy and Michael Moore. They elevate anti-war rhetoric and perhaps worst of all, lend almost no moral support to those fighting in the sand box.All that - in the face of the winds of change - because it apparently is more important to be contrary than right, and thats a huge mistake when your a target.
Did you grow up and play with ANY of those males?I've had family and friends murdered by islamofascists.
Have you been asleep for the last 143 years?
Wake up,Its the elitist liberal hollyweird gungrabbing "progressives" who protect the islamofascists and illegal immigrants,I'd welcome Ted Nugent(a yankee) to my house anyday over Bill Clinton!
Bahhow, I understand what you're saying, but "Islamofascist" is a catch-all phrase (and a poor one at that) for any supposed US enemy in the region - enemies which are often created (as in the case of Iraq) by a terribly flawed Federal foreign policy -- one that McCain is guaranteed to make worse.
RedShirt ""Islamofascist" is a catch-all phrase created by policy"
I don't know why Americans who are opposed to our foreign policy dismiss the danger Islamic countries and Islamic policy to the mistakes of the Bush admim and "Blowback".To ignore and underestimate your enemies intent has been the downfall of nations through out history,a classic example is how the Islamic Armies at the Battle of Tours in 732 underestimated Charles "The Hammer" Martel.
I don't underestimate the danger of Islam - I want a REAL solution to the problem, not endless conventional wars and occupations over there. Instead, let us close our borders to the Middle East & aknowledge that we are not a Muslim land. If no Muslims come to America then they can't blow things up over here. That's the solution - keep them out. Instead, the Feds are taking in millions of them. Why? They are creating a problem that we never had here.
"If you and others are referring to me,you're sadly mistaken,to buy into the theory the Fed gov has hatched a terrorist threat for the whatever its hidden purpose is at best ignorance."
Bowhow, I don't claim that at all. I'm not a conspiracist theory person. The threat from the Feds isn't hidden - it's right in front of us. The illegal Federal Reserve. The undeclared war. The restriction of habeus corpus. The spying on Americans. These things are part of the threat of the Feds.
"The illegal Federal Reserve. The undeclared war. The restriction of habeus corpus. These things are part of the threat of the Feds."
Agreed with the above quote, but what I see in this discussion is apathy and complacent behavior towards a clear and present danger that most people woke up to on 9-11 only to buy into the disinformation that its not real and poses more of a danger than the fed gov and its evils,1 MUST realize that we are fighting a 2 front war!!
"Big Gov't (esp. in our case the illegally gained powers of the Feds) is the biggest threat of tyranny to a free people."
Big Governments abroad that are controled by a violent religion celebrate in this weakness, just as the barbarians at Rome's gates did,in the end the ones who focused on their tyrants and ignored the gates suffered the same fate if not worse than their masters.
We have enemies inside and outside our gates,to ignore one,is to ignore both brothers.
You can choose to ignore the biggest threat to our survival as a nation and pass it off as fed gov propaganda, you can believe RP on blowback thinking,if we leave them alone things will get better(1 of the few things I disagree with him on),anyone here thats ever undergone a SSBI and is in the fold you're welcome to contact me through other channels.
The Ironic thing here is that Jeff Davis made the fatal mistake of offense, our downfall now
"war-mongering",flush your head gear, whats sad here is that our gov, demos, repubs and most of all the yankee libs have polluted some ppl here into thinking that we are not engadged in a holy war!Every politician is afraid to say this! The same yankees that brought you open borders,NAFTA and other fun stuff that goes against everything that logic stands for.
I've seen enough of the middle east to know when our gov is full of shit and when they're not.
"Sadly, there are too many Southerners who don't realise the dangers of the Federal Government."
If you and others are referring to me,you're sadly mistaken,to buy into the theory the Fed gov has hatched a terrorist threat for the whatever its hidden purpose is at best ignorance. When I returned from my 1st deployment in 83 the 1st news I got was that my 1st cousin,a Marine was blown to bits in Beruit,If there is 1 man here that can tell me a yankee is more my enemy than any muslim speak now!
who killed one in four southern males between the ages of 15 and 50? who burned our cities, raped our women, stole or destroyed our property? who committed thousands of war crimes and atrocities against us? who have repeatedly shown their willingness to use deadly force to impose their will upon us? who propagandizes our children against us? who depict us, with apologies to redshirtarmy,as "inbredtoothlessignorantracistniggerlynchingsisterfuckingrednecks?
McLame is no conservative! He'll take your guns, never secure our borders, start the draft to attack Iran, stay in Iraq for 100 years, has no idea how to fix the economy so he'll let the fed screw us over to the end.
McCain is simply obeying those that have put him into place when they saw Giuliani couldn't garner enough religious right votes for the appearance of democracy (because of his abortion/gay/drag issues).
Podhoretz, Frum, Feith, Kristol, Perle, Krauthammer, Wolfowitz, etc.
"Same mindset, different war. it grieves me that so many southerners now think like yankees."
It grieves me that some Southerners don't have the forsight to know who the real enemy is today,I'm suprised at the lack of knowledge here,it seems that damn "V" Jeff davis ruined us with is still alive and well.
Sadly, there are too many Southerners who don't realise the dangers of the Federal Government. They don't realise who the Feds have none of our interests at heart; how they replace us with cheap labor and send us to die in wars that don't invovlve us. Jefferson, Madison and Henry knew what they were talking about - Big Gov't (esp. in our case the illegally gained powers of the Feds) is the biggest threat of tyranny to a free people.
And further more..It is probably inevitable that in the annals of intellectual history neoconservatism will be defined always by what it was reacting against: the anti-Vietnam War movement, anti-Zionism, "liberation" theology, multiculturalism and various sorts of Third World advocacies that imply a programmatic anti-Americanism.Imformation is always good to have as is an objective view of both sides to this coin.
"Hurrah! Hurrah! We bring the Jubilee. Hurrah! Hurrah! The flag that makes you free, So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea, While we were marching through Georgia."
same mindset, different war. it grieves me that so many southerners now think like yankees. the reconstruction is almost complete.
These ideologies, both descendants of Enlightenment thought, tried to destroy all traditions, history, ethics, and moral standards and replace them by force with a supreme authority under which nature and mankind are subjugated and conquered
The second type -- the "gentle" nihilism expressed in Western liberal democracies -- was a kind of value-free aimlessness and a hedonistic "permissive egalitarianism", which he saw as permeating the fabric of contemporary American society.
"These ideologies, both descendants of Enlightenment thought, tried to destroy all traditions, history, ethics, and moral standards and replace them by force with a supreme authority under which nature and mankind are subjugated and conquered"
this sounds like an almost perfect description of neoconservatism. paul craig roberts calls them neo-jacobins. they aren't the heirs of jefferson and adams, but of robespierre and danton.
logic ditates that I won't "cut my nose off to spite my face".
One's principles are his own business unless he chooses to reveal them or he/she runs for public office or is in a position where principle effects others.
I been around enough "progressive liberals" in my life that I would rather have a neo-con in office anyday,I don't like neo-cons,but I hate what liberals(of the new) stand for
"There is no difference between a Neo con and a liberal."
Huge difference,Leo Strauss(one of the founding fathers of neo-conservative ideas and thinking) taught that liberalism in its modern form contained within it an intrinsic tendency towards relativism, which in turn led to two types of nihilism. The first was a "brutal" nihilism, expressed in Nazi and Marxist regimes. .
There was only one true conservative running this time around and he happened to be running on the Republican ticket. He stood out from the rest of them in a BIG way.
My Grandmother's Grandfather who fought with the 45th North Carolina Infantry,2nd Corp, the ANV at Gettysburg,The Wilderness,Spotsylvania Court House,Cold Harbor and many others knew that North Carolina should have Equal representation even though more yankees lived in the state of New York than the state of NC,thats how our government is supposed to work, why he knew this with an 8th grade education and people today don't is beyond me!
Dont make me have to explain the signifigance of states rights as it pertains to individual liberties and limiting the power of the Federal Gov't which by the way was created by the states.
As far as my "Yankee friends" go,the ones I speak of were from Mass, they voted in that state and it was an ISSUE to them because they felt like he betrayed them as Vietnam Vets, why you defend John Kerry,an elitest New England yankee,a gun grabber and an overall liberal who would go at no end to turn us into a socialist paradise is beyond me,unless you're a liberal.
I didn't ask,I was a corporal, they were E-7's and above, they just said the "bastard" betrayed them and that was good enough for me because I knew where they had been.
wilfredsnipple,"They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war"
He was relating what he was told. These things happen in war. Just recently a soldier in Iraq was filmed killing a puppy. I know it is only a puppy but I have seen the things that go on behind closed doors.
"Soldier of Fortune?" Yes,and if you read it in the 70s and 80s it was very a very "reputable rag" and sounding board for Vietnam Vets at that time and crossed over to the younger generation of soldiers
I used to read that magazine also. There was never any politics mentioned. I particularly like one article that talked about the "emerald triangle" which was a place in Humbolt County Ca. where people grew pot and the booby traps they used to keep people out of their stash. Also I have heard that speech Kerry gave and no where did he ever say "baby killers". This is a flat out lie.
"Nothing was said about Kerry that became public until after he ran for President."
Sure there was,if you'll remember Vietnam Vets really didn't get the recognition they deserved until the 80's,one of the first well published magazines that had a voice for Nam vets was SOF,they trashed him on a regular basis,I heard his name cussed plenty of times by Vietnam Vets from Mass and in SOF because of his BS baby-killing speech.
"When it comes to the welfare of the people as a whole there is no lesser evil."
Thats why I'm glad this country was founded as a republic and not a democracy where mob rules,I wis I didn't have to disagree with you here, there is a "lesser evil",not by much, but its there.
If you are screwed your still screwed no matter what color you paint it. When it comes to the welfare of the people as a whole there is no lesser evil.
Naw,Kerry has been hated by most of the Vietnam Vets since he came back and trashed them,it only got political when he ran and people found out how much he turned on his brothers for political gain
Nothing was said about Kerry that became public until after he ran for President. This is more than a little ironic. No Vietnam veteran ever murmured his name. Jane Fonda on the other hand is a different story. You would think he would be more prolific as he was supposed to be one of their own.
Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll appoint someone better as a vice-pres,he'll pass away while in office(like Chuck Norris said) and we'll get a decent president,I wouldn't bet the same on the Lib's side.
Kerry is illrelivent in this discussion and his actions in which he won his awards has been disputed, there was never any doubt about McCain's awards, don't get me wrong,I'm not happy he's running,I'd rather have someone else in his place, just not,or NEVER Obama/Clinton
I support Americans who give our troops more bullets beans and bandaids.
I support Americans who let the military run the war once they're turned loose.
I support Americans who don't support Democrats because the Democrats for the most part have undermined EVERY military effort this country has made since WW2.
I did soo many pushups the state of Georgia sank 3 foot by the time I got out of training 28 years ago,my Drill Sgt. was in Vietnam,he would agree with me and was happy everytime he had people like McCain around on his shoulders.
He was flying his twenty-third bombing mission over North Vietnam,a country that had air defenses 2nd only to the USA and USSR, when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi. He fractured both arms and a leg, then nearly drowned when he parachuted into Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi. After he regained consciousness, a mob attacked him, crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt, and bayoneted him.
He survived two airplane crashes and a collision with power lines, was almost killed during the USS Forrestal fire that killed 134 sailors when he helped another pilot escape when a bomb exploded,McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments. After this he volunteered to serve on the USS Oriskany.
I'm no McCain fan but I'd never go so far as to say that.I was a grunt and was thankful everytime I had air support as I'm sure you would had been if you ever saw combat.
McCain never saw real combat. It is easy to press buttons from the cockpit but to experience combat on the ground is another thing. Maybe if he had seen his buddies get their brains blown out he wouldn't be so pro war. Many experienced WW2 vets will tell you that war is the last thing you want- especially when you have no support. I remember Bush saying but weve got Poland, weve got Poland. LOL. It took the German army two days to walk through Poland.
you retard he was a fucking prisoner of war, you really shouldn't make statements when you have no idea what you're talking about, but i wouldn't want him as president
mccain is no better (maybe even worse) than the democrats... just because he can rattle off some lines about pork barrel spending, doesn't mean he would be conservative. Just look how Bush turned out. We're about to give the Federal Reserve even greater power than they already have.. thank goodness we have those conservatives in office to save us...
Considering the North Vietnamese honor John MCain as a 'war hero' for the information he gave, due to threats of torture. God knows what a blessing to this earth it would be to kill that man.
Hell, the POW's even call him 'songbird' John McCain because they know what he did in that prison camp.
Will the South yet again vote for the "lesser of two evils"? Or are we past that yet? Can we at last move on and build a true national movement to secure liberty and survival in our own homeland???
The two parties are such as the candidate representing them makes them, Democrats can go as far left as Kucinich or a true socialist, or another type of left Barack Obama an agent of Marxist black separatists, or as far right as Ron Paul or a true Libertarian or another type of right, Tom Tancredo.
Your bold statement "[t]his proves that American democracy is illegitimate" is over-the-top, not well founded and ultimately melo-dramatic and petulant of insolence and self importance.
I enjoy hyperbole but you seem to be a hyperbole junkie.
"black separatist"? I can't take that seriously and the rest of your assertions conform. Your assessment is obviously over simplistic and super hyperbolic.

He can choose to continue this divisive talk with Iran even into the Presidency. Or, we can choose a different appraoch.
I believe diplomacy will serve Iran and America better. And Israel too.
All this talk of stopping them from getting a nuclear weapon is actually motivating them more to develop one.

Have you been asleep for the last 143 years?
Wake up,Its the elitist liberal hollyweird gungrabbing "progressives" who protect the islamofascists and illegal immigrants,I'd welcome Ted Nugent(a yankee) to my house anyday over Bill Clinton!
With Pride!!
bawhow 3 years ago
Bahhow, I understand what you're saying, but "Islamofascist" is a catch-all phrase (and a poor one at that) for any supposed US enemy in the region - enemies which are often created (as in the case of Iraq) by a terribly flawed Federal foreign policy -- one that McCain is guaranteed to make worse.
RedShirtArmy 3 years ago
RedShirt ""Islamofascist" is a catch-all phrase created by policy"
I don't know why Americans who are opposed to our foreign policy dismiss the danger Islamic countries and Islamic policy to the mistakes of the Bush admim and "Blowback".To ignore and underestimate your enemies intent has been the downfall of nations through out history,a classic example is how the Islamic Armies at the Battle of Tours in 732 underestimated Charles "The Hammer" Martel.
bawhow 3 years ago

We have enemies inside and outside our gates,to ignore one,is to ignore both brothers.
bawhow 3 years ago
You can choose to ignore the biggest threat to our survival as a nation and pass it off as fed gov propaganda, you can believe RP on blowback thinking,if we leave them alone things will get better(1 of the few things I disagree with him on),anyone here thats ever undergone a SSBI and is in the fold you're welcome to contact me through other channels.
The Ironic thing here is that Jeff Davis made the fatal mistake of offense, our downfall now
will be the lack of proactiveness.

I've seen enough of the middle east to know when our gov is full of shit and when they're not.

who killed one in four southern males between the ages of 15 and 50? who burned our cities, raped our women, stole or destroyed our property? who committed thousands of war crimes and atrocities against us? who have repeatedly shown their willingness to use deadly force to impose their will upon us? who propagandizes our children against us? who depict us, with apologies to redshirtarmy,as "inbredtoothlessignorantracistniggerlynchingsisterfuckingrednecks?

It grieves me that some Southerners don't have the forsight to know who the real enemy is today,I'm suprised at the lack of knowledge here,it seems that damn "V" Jeff davis ruined us with is still alive and well.
bawhow 3 years ago

Yes,for one not to realize that a best defense is an offense.
And to think that reconstruction was nothing to whats at stake in this time.
We could use a General like Sherman who understood war and a goverenment that had the since to turn him loose, long since the time to "Cry Havoc!"

These ideologies, both descendants of Enlightenment thought, tried to destroy all traditions, history, ethics, and moral standards and replace them by force with a supreme authority under which nature and mankind are subjugated and conquered
The second type -- the "gentle" nihilism expressed in Western liberal democracies -- was a kind of value-free aimlessness and a hedonistic "permissive egalitarianism", which he saw as permeating the fabric of contemporary American society.

this sounds like an almost perfect description of neoconservatism. paul craig roberts calls them neo-jacobins. they aren't the heirs of jefferson and adams, but of robespierre and danton.

logic ditates that I won't "cut my nose off to spite my face".
One's principles are his own business unless he chooses to reveal them or he/she runs for public office or is in a position where principle effects others.
I been around enough "progressive liberals" in my life that I would rather have a neo-con in office anyday,I don't like neo-cons,but I hate what liberals(of the new) stand for
bawhow 3 years ago
There is no difference between a Neo con and a liberal.
wilfredsnipple 3 years ago
"There is no difference between a Neo con and a liberal."
Huge difference,Leo Strauss(one of the founding fathers of neo-conservative ideas and thinking) taught that liberalism in its modern form contained within it an intrinsic tendency towards relativism, which in turn led to two types of nihilism. The first was a "brutal" nihilism, expressed in Nazi and Marxist regimes. .

wilfredsnipple 3 years ago
Is that good enough for ya?
As far as my "Yankee friends" go,the ones I speak of were from Mass, they voted in that state and it was an ISSUE to them because they felt like he betrayed them as Vietnam Vets, why you defend John Kerry,an elitest New England yankee,a gun grabber and an overall liberal who would go at no end to turn us into a socialist paradise is beyond me,unless you're a liberal.

bawhow 3 years ago
I used to read that magazine also. There was never any politics mentioned. I particularly like one article that talked about the "emerald triangle" which was a place in Humbolt County Ca. where people grew pot and the booby traps they used to keep people out of their stash. Also I have heard that speech Kerry gave and no where did he ever say "baby killers". This is a flat out lie.
wilfredsnipple 3 years ago

Sure there was,if you'll remember Vietnam Vets really didn't get the recognition they deserved until the 80's,one of the first well published magazines that had a voice for Nam vets was SOF,they trashed him on a regular basis,I heard his name cussed plenty of times by Vietnam Vets from Mass and in SOF because of his BS baby-killing speech.

bawhow 3 years ago
Nothing was said about Kerry that became public until after he ran for President. This is more than a little ironic. No Vietnam veteran ever murmured his name. Jane Fonda on the other hand is a different story. You would think he would be more prolific as he was supposed to be one of their own.
wilfredsnipple 3 years ago
Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll appoint someone better as a vice-pres,he'll pass away while in office(like Chuck Norris said) and we'll get a decent president,I wouldn't bet the same on the Lib's side.

Kerry is illrelivent in this discussion and his actions in which he won his awards has been disputed, there was never any doubt about McCain's awards, don't get me wrong,I'm not happy he's running,I'd rather have someone else in his place, just not,or NEVER Obama/Clinton

Maybe if he had seen his buddies get their brains blown out he wouldn't be so pro war. It seems that the two parties are very much alike. This proves that American democracy is illegitimate.
Epic878787 3 years ago
The two parties are such as the candidate representing them makes them, Democrats can go as far left as Kucinich or a true socialist, or another type of left Barack Obama an agent of Marxist black separatists, or as far right as Ron Paul or a true Libertarian or another type of right, Tom Tancredo.
Your bold statement "[t]his proves that American democracy is illegitimate" is over-the-top, not well founded and ultimately melo-dramatic and petulant of insolence and self importance.
