i personally prefer to draw a sketch with a pencil then draw lines with a pen, erase the pencil and then paint with the ink. almost the same except the pencil lines aren't there.

@PIEDol He shows the pen right before he starts using it. Its a Sakura Pigma Micron. Another comment says .08 mm is the size, but I didn't catch it when I watched.

@PIEDol not sure exactly which one but I know STAEDTLER pens achieve the exact same effects (I have loads, they're really great).

@PIEDol it's actually a very affordable, commonly used tech pen. You absolutely must ink your work with it LAST like crilley did, though, because they don't have waterproof ink from my experience x_x

If you like inking your work before coloring, though, try india ink tech pens. Faber-Castell is really the only brand I'm aware of since they're fairly common too, but these pens write like velvet and are super black. Waterproof, too.

@sekki108 Pentel Pocket Brush? Gotta leave it a day or so to "cure" it before you can paint over it, though...and the ink isn't THAT dark but they're good for sketching "on the go"...I'm a crowquill-nib-and-India-Ink man myself, though...but I do use a decent sable brush too, sometimes, depending on the piece. I think that Speedball Super Black is really good ink, and the Windsor & Newton is really dependable, too.

WOW! An obsolutely exceptional piece of videography and, superb demonstration of artistic skill!

Really interesting to see you rough it out then see the thing come alive when you used the 08 mm pen and the lightest of lines with the black pencil, giving skin tone and horns their shape.

I will go to sleep and have nightmares about that 'eye' looking at me!

I just do not have the ability to draw. The guitar, piano, and drawing and painting was my wish, sadly unfulfilled!

It astounds me that the ink from the pen doesn't run when he goes over it with the watercolour, that always hapens to me no matter what pen I use.

Make sure that the ink you're using is waterproof. Indian ink, permanent markers and most technical pens (what's used here) are, and shouldn't run when dry.
