Can't get enough of your great vids. Considered buying one of those forms but they are twice the cost here in Ont as in the states. How far did you dig down before starting? Love that you customized ea. rock. Any special mix or just concrete alone? What type of store would I buy acid stain at? Would love to see the finished job after completed. @mukwah1111 Wondering if I could use this method & form to dress my concrete front steps...similar to your side door but mine is a cement base & then has real flagstone that is disintegrating & some of the stones have come off or are loose. I need to redress them somehow & would love the stone idea. How would I go about applying it to the upright sides & risers on the steps?
@mukwah1111 Sorry I missed this comment 3 weeks ago. Send me a private message and I'll give you detailed suggestions. By using an acrylic bonding agent, thin overlays can be done on existing concrete.
@mukwah1111 I dug down about 3 inches. With a one-inch layer of pea gravel and a two-inch rock thickness, that puts the rocks at, or slightly above, grade. The mix is just Quikrete concrete mix (pea gravel aggregate), but I add an additional Cool Whip container of cement. The extra cement gives better workability and strength. Acid stain is available from concrete suppliers, concrete countertop makers, or online. Have not seen it in home improvement stores. I'll be posting more videos.
