Hey guys im thinking of purchasing these speakers. Could you help me out here, ive heard that they are great of their vale and all this crap , but would you be happy with them is were priced alot higher. kind regards eddy :)
@awesomeeddy1 yeah, they sound very good and clear and for the price you can't get anything better than this. believe me. I had them for a year and i haven't had any problems with it.
I bought 1 of these today and It doesn't sound clear. I've tried out several different songs and the intro works superrr clear, but once the beat drops its just a terrible muffled sound. I've set my gain and main output control on my mixer so it doesnt even touch red. Then when i turn up the speakers to 1/2 way the overload light will start blinking. Wtfff I cant turn up my speakers past 1/2 way or get a clear sound. Should i return it?
@ipfreely23 yeah i think it has problems. when I use them they sounds good and clear, and i don't even have to overload it. You should return it and let them send you another one.
i use those speakers with my band for quite some time now..
The speakers are amazing very powerfull with clear sound..The bass that comes out of them is excellentt with great punch..At the beggining is was thinking to buy the subwoofer also but i see now that we dont actually need it..I suggest these to anyone!!
@djdice & DJTecniq It seems the "Mackie" badged speakers have an uprated amplifier over the old "Tapco" ones. Mine has 300W for the 15" and 100W for the horn. The old Tapco ones were 150W+50W, although I have seen "new" Tapcos with the same specs as mine, so buyer beware - they're NOT necessarily the same!
My thump came in a black box (with a large blue and white sticker on containing the details) so don't worry. I think it's part of Mackie's policy on reducing unnecessary packaging. They probably use that same box for other gear, too. My speaker has a round Mackie "running man" badge on the front rather than "Mackie Thump" and just "Thump" on the back. The box says Mackie, though. I bought it as a keyboard monitor and it sounds great! Just looking for a cover for it now in the UK. Any suggestions?
Hello, I have a question for anyone who has these speakers. I get very good and clear highs but I feel like I'm missing some bass. I have been thinking my mixer has a problem or maybe I'm expectin too much. Anyone who is running these straight from their mixer, how ofter does the OL light flash when you have them going. I use a separate amp and sub for the lows but want to set these up the best way so I don't have to carry my 90lb sub and 40lb amp to every event. Thanks in advance
@mcdjruso truth is, light speakers usually dont carry that much punch.. I get them because they have good sound.. intended for more highs and mids. But for lows, it needs to produce more air to push out.. not to mention that most light speakers are not made of wood to be more light. Futhermore, if light speakers do produce a lot of bass.... be ready to pay a lot!
Im considering buying these but I also need a powered subwoofer looking at the th 18, but im waiting for a review on them. Anyone hear anything about them??
I bought the original tapco th-15a pair over a year ago and there still pounding. I also have a JBL EON518S and together they sound sweeeeet. The only difference with the new one's is Mackie put their name on them, otherwise same speaker.
they pump out a huge amount of bass, cant really get them going loud without the bass being over the top lol. i bought an 800watt subby to run these speakers as mid and highs. works better :)
@DjTecniq These are the Tapco Thumps. Tapco was a subdivision of Mackie that has been discontinued. Now instead of Tapco Thumps, these are Mackie Thumps. Same speaker though.
@djdice19 I see in the video those are mackie's. Anyway I've heard the sound quality and clarity on these are highly impressive. And as cheap as they are it's really an amazing buy. Can't wait to get these but so far I've found only the 15'' thumps? Don't they make bigger sizes?
@DjTecniq I'm sorry, I didn't mean literally the speakers in the video are Tapco, just stating how tapco and mackie = same thing. The thump series was by Tapco but when Mackie discontinued Tapco, they continued to make Tapco branded product under the Mackie name. Also to my knowledge, there are only the 15" top cab (TH-15a) and the 18" Sub (TH-18s).
I'm thinking about getting these. I read reviews on them and there's alot of positives behind these. Need them for mostly mobile gigs. How is the bass output on these? Do they get distorted at times?
yes these speakers are great.they give enough bass, not a crazy bass of course .. but enough to not need a another bass while using them.. and it depends o the music.. and they sound perfect clear
I see I'm def considering geting a pair of mackie thump's. Well are the tapco thumps made cheaper they have the exact same model just diff brand name do you have any info on those?
I have been debating on either getting a pair of these or a pair of JBL Eon 315's. Is there a big sound quality difference btwn the two? The price on these mackies are what seriously is compelling me to buy them (found a pair new on ebay with stands for $500).
I bought one of theses and have used it at two gigs and really pleased with it. I just need to save up and buy the other one then it would all be good. Really nice sound and looks really pro.
I think it's enough speaker for a wedding reception or a company party for up to 200 if the room isn't way to big. I think they would be ok for a school dance of 100 if the room was small enough. Just my opinion. I have used them at a wedding reception of 300 outside, but at a wedding reception your not looking for rock concert volume. I'm sure you have figured out how loud these are in your house by now.
wassup mn, i hav those speakers, they are awesome! and yeah they can handle big gigs mn, no worries, they are pretty good, agree with you all the way, oh and btw thats a really cool song there u playing, pitbull ! i knw u want me! lol
