  • Awesome. Track looks great across those stretches of grass.

  • The World record Track at Brooklands was Scalextric and that was what was marked on the Boxes as they were building it. Also all the cars were scalextric.

Carrera were also represented at the other events taking place on the day scuch at the Drag strip under Concorde. This was the Pendle slot club event which was also run in 2010. See my other video.

  • @f1athome1 thanks for comment. Kai

  • hello from Germany. yesterday I ve read in the Guinness Book of World Records 2011 about your slot racing track world record about 4752 m . Congratulations But they wrote "longest Carrera Track" !? I thought it was a Scalextric Track. Can you help me .. which track was built? Thanks ! Kai

  • i was there on that day and in this vid the car after the tunnel is my 1956 mercedes slr gullwing testing the section we built and it was a success

  • I can understand your view, but it was an "I was there moment"

  • Coño !!!!!!!

  • was that james may waving the flag? very cool video btw

  • That Was James May with the Flag starting the race,

  • It was on TV

  • Thanks for putting this vid on so soon after the actual event!

  • Nice vid! It shows the whole of Broklands not just the scalextric!

  • Maybe not real size racing, and maybe a short cut here or there was necessary but 70 years on from closure a full lap of the outer circuit has been achieved... I wonder what the lap time was and what the scale speed was.... Has the Napier Railton all time outer circuit record by John Cobb been beaten ....

  • This was a significant event, which maintains the continuity of the site as a place where records are set.

I think the John Cobb record is safe. I reckon the ave speed was in the region of 1.3mph.

  • Found the German record that was beaten. Interesting to see how different the 2 approaches were. You can find it by searching "Berlin slot car record"

  • Nice to see more of the track. I helped at section 1, walked to 2, then went backwards to 14 to help there. Met some great people who worked very hard to make it happen. Nice video of the day.

Do you have any stills from the start and of the two cars? They were going so quickly through our section (under a minute to clear it) there weren't many photo opportunities.

  • Well Done. Great job. But no model Bentley's ?

  • A lot of waiting followed by lots of running. The event seemed to capture a community spririt. I captured a real Bentley on the outtakes!

  • I have some footage of a model Bentley on the track during testing. The owner's real Bentley 4.5 then drove over the track!

I'll tried to upload it later.

  • Just for you...

10 seconds of a Bentley testing the track before the record breaking cars turned up. Search for "Bentley, brooklands, record, scalextric".

  • was part of section 6, superb day and cant help rabbit about to anyone that wants (or does not want) to listen, a great memory, and a fun day.

  • Sorry, but I did not get any race footage from that side. Feel free to add your Diary here. It would be good to collect everyones memories of a great day. Spread the word and I will publish the results.

  • Do you have any clips of your section. I need someone with some clips of the early stages to complete Slot Brooklands 2

  • My Daddy made me crawl into the tunnel to get it cleaned out. He tells me that his is what they did in Victorian days. Georgia

  • i was a bit quick with that comment to put this the first time but we where the people that where on the other side of that fence ha ha ha ha.

  • it was a great day, i was in the section 1 team for the first 10 mins as we but all the track down and that was about it so we walked around to section 14 and spent the day there making the track go up and over a 6ft fence lol a great day out!

  • Cant wait to see this on tv. Are those mini cameras mounted on the cars?

  • What a day! I was part of the Sony/ Section 14 team. We had to make it go beneath the dual carriageway and over a floating pontoon!!

  • Was the fine detail of the route set by the organisers or did you have a free hand.

I heard the crys and thought the first race car had gone in the water as I had lost it in my viewfinder! But it had only got stuck
