when you fake you don't move the ball, waving is a massive fault that all keepers these days notice, what you should be doing is rotate the abdomen and shoulder whilst keeping the ball still :)

I agree with BaystateBombers comment. BUT, the technique described is correct. For an effective fake you must not rotate your arm past your effective shooting point. If your arm moves past this point this can only result in a crap shot or a slow fake, both pointless.
Tip; For a good fake keep the ball behind your head and rotate your shoulder and elbow. If you practice you could also put in a head throw.
