  • Consider this : In one season, 1970, Bobby Orr won : 1. Hart Trophy 2. Norris Trophy 3.Ross Trophy 4. Conn Smythe Trophy 5. Stanley Cup Winning Goal. 6. Plus - Minus Winner 7. Canadian Athlete of the Year. 8. Sport Magazine Athlete of the Year. 9. Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Year. 10. Set Assist record at 102. No other player did this over an entire career let alone 1 season. Case closed.

  • @MrTehChopper thats just fucking unreal he was just fucking unbelievable

  • my number is #4 because of bobby orr but i dont play D like him

  • @01woodzyful oh and this is wiered my talet in hockey is skating! wiered! but im not that good....

  • I watched him in the Boston Garden he was my hero at 11 yrs old he will always be the best..

  • And people want to compare PK to this guy, watching this it's obvious that Bobby is still years ahead of Subban.

  • When Milt Schmidt speaks about Bobby Orr, I shiver in happiness.

  • Great Tribute

  • Wow, Bobby Orr, Amazing. And will always be Remembered,

  • Grew up during the early 70's, early 80's....saw em all...Gretzky,Mario, Lafleur,Hull...played the game for 20 yrs + too (amateur)...there was no one greater than Bobby Orr, NO ONE. And i've been a proud Ranger fan for many years..the man could do it all. He is,without a doubt, the greatest hockey player I have ever seen.

  • When it is said, 5 Orr's crushes 5 Gretzky's, it means that Orr would have been the all best player at ANY position he played. If Bobby played center, hanging around the net Like Wayne, he would have been easily as good, with far more gifts to add. He was just as heady making plays @ faster pace, saw all his mates, passes perfect, always looking to pass, shot selection & GET BACK & PLAY ON D!

An NHL coach - forget name - said where ever the puck is - HE's there - anywhere and he was involved.

  • Also, when Orr rushed the puck, 80% of the time he came down the right side so the puck was always on his backhand. He was so great behind the net, and Gretzky fans have no idea how great he was.

Orr had maybe 5 seconds to every minute Gretzky had around the net. Orr came down and around behind the net at Mack 40 & the Gman was jockeying for position, When Orr came out from behind the net, the puck always on his BACKHAND, & pass right on the shooters stick; flick the wrist & a shot lets fly!

  • I read all this crap that Gretzky was a far better offensive player, and that is a load of BS. G played all around the net, making plays, and setting up others. He was great at it.

Few realize that Orr's natural position was CENTER, not a D man. His coach from 11-12 years old was an ex NHL Dman, and told Bobby that with his great skating he would be great at getting the puck out of his own end, so Bobby learned to play D.

Have you ever seen Bobby out in front of the net? Unbelievable!!

  • The greatest by far. All you have to do is look at the career plus/minus stats and see that Orr averaged plus .91 per game. That's almost a point per game. Larry Robinson, who played on those great Canadien teams is a distant second with a .53 average. Four other players, Serge Savard, Bobby Clarke, Denis Potvin and Mark Howe are next with about a .44 mark.

Wayne Gretzky gets a .34 and Mario Lemieux averages a paltry .12.

Orr's biggest disappointment was winning only two cups with the Bruins.

  • Had Mario been healthy we would not be having this debate . That being said Bobby is the best there ever was ... and alway's will .

  • #4 is the Greatest until Gretzky wins a Selke Trophy as best defensive forward. Not hating on #99, but he never delivered a check, blocked a shot, or stole a puck while backchecking.

  • Denis Potvin recently said something very profound: As far as musical groups go, there are The Beatles and everyone else. As far as hockey players go, there's Bobby Orr and everyone else.

    Well said.

  • @Lava1964 I remember that. That was his comment to comparing Lidstrom to Orr. Good stuff.

  • Orr is in my mind is the greatest player ever. Gretzky was the greatest scorer ever but Orr was the greatest complete hockey player. Plus he did it all even though after a collision with Pronovost he was never fully healthy again in the knees, still made the rushes, still played while covering his own back instead of having an on ice protector. Orr changed the game of hockey and how it was to be played, Gretzky merely the scoring records. And the plus minus numbers are from another world.

  • I'm old enough to have seen Orr in his prime. The greatest. Trust me.

  • bobby orr is the greatest hockey player to ever play the gamehe is the greatest hockey player to ever live its 2011 and we have yet to see anyone that could play at bobby orrs level

  • Forget about stats, plus/minus....Bobby Orr was the greatest talent I have even had the pleasure to watch in over 45 years of watching hockey......

  • Oh my gosh you met Bobby Orr you are the most luckiest person on earth

  • You can compare Orr to anyone. I have seen him skate as I have Gretzky and Lemieux. Who was the greatest? Lets put it this way......I could have met him in person but his impression on me was so great that I decided not to meet him so that any memory that I ever had of him would never be tainted.

  • @Sylonth I met him once and my daughter sat with him at a St. Mikes game a few years ago. Believe me your impression would not have been tainted. He might have more class off the ice than on if that is possible.

  • @GOODPLAYA20 Did your brain shift out of gear, or are you naturally stupid? ...can't play defense, that's crap...!

  • @WhopBobbaLuBop Well, I understand he probably had the puck 90% of the time he was on the ice, but what about that other 10%? He probably would turn the puck over all the time like every offensive defenseman does these days. It's just my opinion, no need to insult it.

  • @GOODPLAYA20 no he didnt turn the puck over thats one fo the reasons he was so great when he had the puck you couldnt touch him when he didnt have the puck he took it from you did you watch and listen to these epople talk on the video what we do about this blond haired kid well lets give him the puck he had in the whole first period and throw another one out for us when he had the puck you couldnt take it he made it seem like a kids game

  • @GOODPLAYA20 let me put that to rest he finished NHL Plus/Minus leader in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974 and 1975, the most in history Highest plus/minus in one NHL season (+124; 1970–71)[152] no player has ever to this day had a plus 124 ever that means he was on the ice scoring more then getting scored on and he played on the pk

  • @GOODPLAYA20 It's not these days idiot...Bobby Orr was voted the second greatest hockey player of all time by an expert committee in 1997 by The Hockey News. Orr is behind only Wayne Gretzky and ahead of Gordie Howe as well as being named the top defenceman of all time...Smarten the fuck up you moron..Bobby Orr's knees were all fucked up and he still shit on the rest of the NHL

    Go watch the YouTube virdeo

    Bobby Orr on NOVA

    AND STFU YOU IDIOT

  • Comment removed

  • @GOODPLAYA20 For eight consecutive seasons Orr won the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman and three times he was the league's most valuable player to collect the Hart Trophy. Orr's plus-minus rating when he was at his best was untouchable at plus-124 in 1970-71, when he scored 139 points. Left wing? ROFL

  • @GOODPLAYA20 Now run away and go close your channel GOODPLAYA20...

  • @geocgeo I didn't run away. I just didn't feel like listening to your bullshit. People like you are the reason I hate commenting on YouTube. You probably just look at random videos looking for someone to pick a fight with. Find a hobby or something and have a nice day.

  • @GOODPLAYA20 GOODPLAYA20 You didn't run away you just remove comments after making an ass of yourself AGAIN. The great players who played against ORR say he was the best defenseman they ever played against...YOU ARE CLUELESS..I will have a nice day and a few laughs if you keep posting comments like your idiotic comments about Bobby Orr, You should give comedy a shot....

  • He can shoot, he can score, who else? BOBBY ORE #4

  • When Bobby Orr jumps in a swimming pool, he doesn't get wet, the swimming pool gets Bobby Orr.

  • Thank goodness Uncle Millty drafted the greatest player ever! Go Bruins!

  • SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEE BOBBBBY ORRRRRRRR!!

  • A hockey legend and a great Canadian!!!

  • Hands down greatest player of his generation; the epitome of true hockey spirit.

  • simply the best!!! A great person who cared about kids too. One saw him stay at the Eastern states coliseum for three hours signing autographs and talking with the kids!!!

    A GREAT PERSON!!!

  • HES A HOCKEY GOD!

  • Orr set these record on steel skates, wood sticks, heavy pads, in just 10 years -

while setting up the guys around him play after play.

  • hero <3

  • I still get goosebumps. 45 years since he made his NHL debut. WOW>!

  • i wasnt born until 1982, so i never had the chance to see the man in action live. But from what I have seen my whole life, there will never be another Bobby Orr. Bobby and Ted Williams, 2 players that I never had the honor of seeing while I was alive, are my 2 role models. And my Dad.

  • This video makes me shed a tear... every time I see it.

  • Greatest player ever. Greatest skater ever. Greatest backhand shot ever (if you don't believe me watch the various YouTube clips--film never lies). Greatest passer ever. Greatest Bruin ever. If the Stanley Cup is not renamed the Bobby Orr Trophy there is something seriously wrong with the world.

  • I am and always will be a bruins fan because of Bobby Orr. I never saw anybody give more or do more for hockey than he did. And it was way before the money. It was pride and love of the game. The two greatest players ever will allways be Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe

  • Watched this as preparation for bruins game 7 tonight. I laughed I cried but mostly just wished that #4 was playing tonight.

  • if you do not get goose bumps or watery eyes by the end of that video you ar enot a true hockey fan.

  • if you do not get goose bumps or watery eyes by the end of that video you ar enot a true hockey fan

  • @sealteamplankowner86 im not a true hockey fan...and it brought tears to my eyes lol

  • @hunterwmcleod PUSSY! haha jk...i know he was that awesome

  • Jesus god I can't believed they played hockey without helmets. Tough as nails.

  • "Robert Gordon Orr was born great its that simple"

  • Best player ever...and he's a very humble and classy guy....

  • The Player that changed the game. There is only one Bobby Orr and thats final he was something else. I never saw him play but the Highlight reels of him what a player he was. My mom whom is a Rangers fan Remembers him she said" he was great but When he played the Rangers I use to pray he never got the puck because if he did I knew that It was game over for my Rangers "

  • orr forsberg? haha not even on the same page.

unlike greztky he actualy did it all.

orr is the most humble guy you will ever meet and not to mention the greatest hockey player of all time

  • Orr> Forsberg

  • Domi is the best.

  • phil esposito a true great hockey player said he was the greatest even Gordie how says Orr was the best player to lace em up when to of the greats say that about you you are pretty damn good

  • what about gordie howe??

  • @TheWillyWalawala Howe was great but Bobby Orr changed hockey like no player before him or after him.

He could play GREAT defense.score like no defenseman before him and FIGHT HIS ASS OFF!

    youtube.com/watch?v=q3AhKTaenqQ

  • watch?v=MSDw3tMa7ec

  • @TheWillyWalawala

You're comparing two of the greats of hockey. I think Gordie would say that Orr was the best player, Orr was that good. The best plus minus. But Gordie was so talented as a forward he was in a class by himself. They played differently at different positions, both so great.

  • For you 12 assholes go jump off a fuckin bridge you jealous faggots!!

  • @sette2766 Mom, is that you?

  • @polytide51 Yes it is, stop touching that little boys pee pee next door and get in the house and wash up for dinner!!

  • i watch this every day

  • amen

  • Bobby Orr #4 will always be number one!

  • I look at my 1973 Mites hockey picture, and 75% of us are wearing Bobby Orr sweatshirts. The rest were wearing Esposito.

  • I wish the bs can have a player liek that in my lifetime. Then again julien probably wouldn't allow him to actually use his offensive skills

  • Orr pwns everyone at hockey

  • i wish i could have been able to see him play. Such an amazing player makes it look so easy out there. #4 should be retired by the NHL

  • Makes me proud to be a Bruins fan.

  • 12 people need to be hit in the face by an Orr in his prime slapshot

  • Great Video~ Hey guys,HAVE A LOOK on my awesome Bobby Orr 1973-1974 vintage jersey. youtube.com/watch?v=8fT_02IPoWg

  • Orr's Plus/Minus numbers are from another world. His numbers are more than twice that of Gretzky's, and three times more than Lemieux's ! You have to be a student of the game to even comprehend those numbers.....Orr was on the ice for more goals per shift than any other player---ever. He was also on the ice for the fewest number of goals scored per game against his Team. How do you measure such a mind blowing stat ?

  • @matt75hooper I totally agree! The best ever. People here in Detroit are starting to argue that Lidstrom is the best defensman ever. Obviously they don't know hockey!

  • @JNieckarz Modern day sentiment. I predicted that Michael Jordan would also be a victim to modern day sentiment, and he is. It is now commonplace for folks to talk of 'better' players that Jordan now playing in the NBA. Nonsense. The only criticism legitimately attached to Orr was his short career. Players went after Orr--purposely to get him off the ice. They tried everything. This cost him at least 5 years......maybe even 10.

  • @matt75hooper Agreed. He played harder than most players...ever.

  • @matt75hooper Gretzky played 21 years while Orr only played 12. Gretzky played well past his prime, where as Orr did not, therefore of course his +/- is going to be higher. Why not compare Gretzky's first 12 years of play to Orr's? I'm not saying that Gretzky is better than Orr at all, but I just think it is somewhat unfair to compare.

  • @mitch019850 actualy half of Orr's years he couldn't play to his full potential because of a knee injury, and was forced into retirement way before he was past his prime

  • @Leclwrd I am not trying to take anything away from Orr, he was absolutely amazing. Maybe another way to look at it is to compare their +/- for their first 5 years of play (when both were in their prime).

And obviously this is not 100% accurate either, you can never really fully compare 2 great atheletes on even terms, but then I'm sure Orr's +/- would not be twice as high as gretzky's. I might take a look at these numbers and repost something here. You never know I could be wrong.

  • @mitch019850 I can sum it up very simply: when Gretzky is asleep, playing the hockey game of his dreams, he's not wearing #99...he's wearing #4. Bobby Orr has never EVER had to dream of being Gretzky, because he already was Gretzky, except a 500% better skater. Wayne could never make an entire opposing team look like stiff-legged morons by himself, which Bobby did on a nightly basis, even with his knee injuries. If the B's beat the Canucks they should present the cup to Orr in tribute.

  • @lashutterbug Excellent comment and I live in Kingston Ontario Canada where Grapes is from, just around the corner from my childhood home and the old Kingston Frontenacs were the farm team for the Bruins. Bobby Orr was and always will be THE BEST.

  • @Leclwrd After taking a look in wikipedia, his first NHL season had no +/- so I took seasons 2-6 and ended up with +359 (which is absolutely fucking incredible I might add)

Gretzky's seasons 2-6 add up to +356. Weird how amazingly close they are.

And of course I can hear the people out there already complaining that one's linemates were better, or that Orr played in a time when players on other teams werent as good as today's. But when trying to put all that aside, these are the number I get.

  • @mitch019850 yah but Orr played almost half the years Gretzky did, so he had over twice the +/- of Gretzky.

  • @matt75hooper but the goalies playing him compared to gretzky and lemieux were shit

  • @CherryMentos Haha thats a good point but even the goalies that gretzky and lemieux played against sucked, maybe not as much but they still sucked

  • @CherryMentos the goalies today wear a suit of armor compared to what they wore back then. You can suck now and still save a lot of shots simply because the pads are so huge. The goalies of both eras had the same skill.

  • @matt75hooper you cant measure a stat like that hes the best there is was and ever will be

  • Bobby Orr gave me wonderful hockey memories etched into my mind forever. He was the reason why hockey suddenly became so watched during the late 60's into the mid 70's. I often wonder if there will ever be another Bobby Orr, I wish, but doubt. Comparing Orr to other greats is like comparing hockey sticks to baseball bats, a whole different class for different purpose.

  • The best .Robert Orr

  • I couldn't watch the Bruins anymore after 76.....just wasn't the same... Orr spoiled me

  • sucks so much 90% of us commenting on this never saw him play.

Gretzky was amazing too, but Bobby Orr was just the best hockey player ever.

  • 4:51 Holding

  • Why would you have Gord Stellick of all people in the video

  • Bobby Orr quote: “We have to keep our kids playing; the more they play the better chance we have of finding another Gretzky or Lemieux.” -- now THAT'S humility.

  • Too bad hockey didn`t have the recognition because he would have been in Michael Jordan or Babe Ruths league as far as top North American athlete ever.

  • @openedup09 maybe in the states, but here in Canada Orr far surpasses babe Ruth and Micheal Jordan !

  • @jarw28 I`m from Boston and I remembered how great he was.I wouldn`t argue with that at all because he is the greatest athlete that I`ve ever seen.If he played for Montreal they probaly would have won the cup every year he was there and if he played in New York. The whole world would have known of him. With Orr here in Boston at that time made it a huge hockey town.

  • My First Pick overall to start a team for all time will be Bobby ORR,.

  • Bobby Orr once said that Wayne Gretzky wasn't that fast, but fast enough...wasn't that strong, but strong enough...didn't shoot that hard, but hard enough...wasn't that tough, but tough enough. Wayne Gretzky had everything he needed at the exact time he needed it.

Bobby Orr is the best player at any time, any age. Orr dictated games in a way no one else ever did or ever will.

Bobby Orr was looking down on himself while he played. No one else ever did that or ever will.

  • Robert Gorden Orr was born great ... it was that simple

  • the only player better than Orr won the scoring title and the Norris for 3 seasons... oh, wait a minute, no one has done that...

  • @ab330 actually, he won the Norris for 8 seasons....

  • any reltion to colton ??

  • @TheBUrKeYy No.

  • Orr > Greztky

  • @Leclwrd gretzky >orr

  • Gretztky, Orr, Howe, and the spirit of old time hockey! haha

  • @Leclwrd oh, not even close..yeah

  • @Leclwrd i do agree that Orr was as good as greztky, but the difference between them is that When Bobby Orr had the puck, he was a huge scoring threat. But when Wayne Greztky had the puck, everyone on the ice became a scoring threat. Greztky was good because of his ability to control every aspect of the game. Orr was good because he could score on demand.

  • @Rydzone23 you missed the Orr was the best defense man of the century...

  • @Rydzone23 Greztky could not control the defensive part of the game, Orr could on D and Offense.

  • @Rydzone23 No one...in ANY team sport...CONTROLLED his team's games to the extent Orr did. For you to claim Gretzky did better than Orr in controlling games is ludicrous - all you need to do is compare their career plus/minus figures. There is NO comparison.

  • im a flyers fn but fuck bobby orr is a fuckin legend

hes my best though i never saw bobbys games

  • @khav11 flyers for life. i agree, the broad street bullies was the most intimidating and kick ass team during the first half of the 70's but no individual could match with with orr, not even the golden jets (bobby hull) incredible slapshot. although no1 could fight like schultz!

  • bobby orr was simply the best wayne?mario?thet don't even come close

  • @bigpoppa2112 id say gretzky is the better one. but its so hard to tell since bobbys career ended so swiftly... who now, maybe hed go over 3,000 points if he had the same total gametime as gretzky. although, if u know anything about hockey u should know that the great one, gretzky, is and was an INCREDIBLE player. the intelligence he possessed during the games was outstanding... saw him live once, it was pure magic.

  • @bigpoppa2112 I agree. I think Orr was the greatest hockey player . He was not a floating goal suck.

  • Another amazing video. So inpsiring to watch this video!! :)

    -Matt aka FBH

  • Thanks for the memories, I remember Bobby way back in 1968... What a player he was... My wife (when she was 14) got a kiss on the cheek from Bobby back in 1973 when he visited in Hooksett New Hampshire... Man, how time flies... Thanks for sharing this video...

  • pat quinn saw many great players and he said orr was best he ever saw

  • hos 11 people who dislike it HAVE NO CLUE WHAT HOCKEY IS

    Bobby Orr #4 for life

  • must be pretty good to be able to kill penalties single handedly

  • best shot in any movie..organ player takin one to the head..none better

  • greatest player of all time gretzky who lemeiux who i mean orr is just so much better then the two who are talked about as the best bobby orr is the best hockey player to ever lace them up its not even up for discution

  • I've said it for years, and I'll say it again: Bobby Orr ruined hockey! He took hockey-ignorant people like me, my Dad & my Mother, and made us all Bobby Orr fans. Everyone started following hockey - following Bobby Orr. It became so popular that the world hockey league developed .... all because of the interest created by #4. And then he left!! And then what? I'm suppose to watch some bantam weight wannabee Gretzky?! No way! I'd been spoiled. For me, no more hockey. Bobby Orr ruined it for me.

  • @kpflo123

Gretzky a bantam weight wannabe? Well you couldn't be more accurate when you called yourself a hockey-ignorant.

  • the best.

  • I agree...Bobby was a joy to watch...I moved from Boston to LA and had the pleasure to watch him on both coasts. A true legend.

  • You wonder what his career would have been like with the orthopedic technology of today. Back then knee surgery was messy thing with poor recovery rates.

  • working for united airlines handling air canada flights, Bobby was a gentleman he was just a normal guy.

  • No one comes close to Bobby Orr. He was and always will be the greatest player to ever lace up skates, period!

  • @EclecticDiscus ovechkin is better

  • @hockeyismylife67 not even close , ovechkin is a one way player and cant do anything but shoot , all his assists come from rebounds from his shots that his teammates tuck in.

  • @winzinnewf because now is hockey very very very very fAst and only the way how to get puck into the net is a good shooting or passing ,

  • @hockeyismylife67

You must be a kid. Ovechkin isn't in the same class as Orr. No one is.

  • @hockeyismylife67 hockeyismylife with a name like that, one would think you would know something about the game.Do you think anyone is going to talking about oveckin in 35 years...I don't think so.ovi is good yes but hes a one trick pony, that has been figured out and shut down. Also he asn't have 1tenth the class as Orr

  • @MrRob7004 i was kidding :D

  • Maybe skill wise. Gretzky was and is the smartest player ever.

  • @EclecticDiscus Some people will disagree. Not me. I love my replica 1974 "away" Bobby Orr jersey.

  • Bobby Orr, #4. The best NHL player EVER

-3 Straight MVPS 1970,'71,'72 (should've won 6 in a row 1970-75, but, some NHL idiots think Phil Esposito in 1974 and Bobby Clarke ('73 and '75 were better.)

-2 NHL scoring titles 1970 and 1975. Again, if it wasn't for team-mate Phil Esposito, Orr would've won 6 straight scoring titles from 1970-1975.

-8 straight Norris Trophy awards for best NHL defenseman. 1968-1975

-2 Conn Smythe Trohies for MVP of NHL playoffs 1970, 1972.

    Enough said.

  • @Victor1970s

I think you're exaggerating a bit there. If it wasn't for team-mate Phil Esposito, Orr would never have won a scoring title at all.

  • @Irato99 what a joke...you keep bringing this up. Only you and Espo believe this. Watch Espo's highlights if you don't believe me. Espo was an important cog for that team, but Orr was a mega star and a highlight machine. Espo tapped in Orr's shots, rushes and passes. Watch the video, watch Espo's video (yawn). Obviously you did not watch any of this on the tube while it actually happened. Listen to what the coaches and team mates say...shessh. Are you blind or addled??

  • @a3her

Who won the most scoring titles, Espo or Orr? I don't care about the highlights, I care about the results.

  • @Irato99 From 69 to the Espo trade....they both had an average of 1.6 pts per game. Orr burned energy on the pk and happened to play defense...you figure out who was better on offense. It really is not that hard to figure out. When Orr was healthy..Orr won the scoring race. If you want to see a monster joke...check out Espo's plus/minus and scoring fall off a cliff when he went to NYR...lol. The Bruins got the better deal in that trade....and that is just Ratelle. Park was a huge bonus.

  • @a3her

In 68-69, Espo won the scoring title with 126 pts, he also won the Hart. On that same year where was Orr? Only 64 pts, just half of was Espo got, you figure out who was better on offense.

  • @Irato99 Is that the year that Orr was injured but played anyway..had a better +/- than Espo. Even though Orr missed some games..he was on the ice for more goals scored for than Espo..is that the year. Oh, sorry..that happened every year!!

Only you and Espo have this totally ignorant perspective. It's rather funny though. Only once in history was Espo a better offensive player than Orr (same team)..the 72 Soviet series. Crutches in 72..Orr fixed that in 76 even though he was still on crutches!

  • @a3her

No, that's the year Espo was on ice for more goals for and Orr was on ice for more goals against. But that won't be the first time you mess stats up, I'm getting used to that coming from you.

  • @Irato99 Ouch...I stand corrected. That would be the first time I was wrong with you..and as always I am willing to admit error when it happens. I had per game stats in my head...Orr was over 10% ahead. But yes, Espo beat Orr by one goal in goals for while on the ice (in 7 more games). You win that one....only a fool thinks Espo was the best offensive player on that team. A fool, Espo and maybe Espo's mom. (3 fools??)

  • @a3her

Come on, on the 8 full seasons Espo played in Boston, he led the team in points 6 times, he led the league in points 5 times and in goals 6 times. He is the best offensive player on that team, the facts are there.

  • @Irato99 You make me lol what was Espo's best season in points before or after he played with Orr? In the 68-69 season Orr was fighting his ass off with the most penalty minutes of his career Esposito wasn't going to fight he was a PUSSY that's where Orr was that season! Orr was a defenseman should he have more points? Where was Espo in 1970 when Orr won the scoring title AS A DEFNSEMAN? After the B's Espo avg LESS THAN A POINT A GAME!

PUT ESPO ON DEFENSE see what he scores for points. LMAO

  • @geocgeo

Except for his last season (he was 38...) Espo was always around a point a game (in his late 30s).

In 66-67, with Orr but no Espo, the Bruins were playing for -26, a .314 win percentage (finished last in the league). Next year comes Espo and Orr plays only 46 games, the Bruins are now +10 with a .568 win percentage. Wow, what an impact Espo had on this team, the numbers don't lie, and he led the NHL in scoring 5 of the next 6 years. The Bruins never won a cup since Espo left.

  • Comment removed

Wow, you are so concerned about insulting me you can't get the facts straight. Orr played 46 gms on his 2nd season, not his rookie year, and he was 19 at that time. Obviously he didn't have a big impact on the team, finishing 11th with the Bruins with 31 pts (still not that bad for the amount of games), but that didn't keep their newest acquisition to finish 2nd in league scoring and bring the team to a newer level, Espo did it. And try to park your ass in the crease, it takes talent.

  • @Irato99 You finally got something right I WAS WRONG.Go watch the

    Phil Esposito retirement day video

Let me know what Phil Esposito says starting at the 3:40 mark on that video.

Orr came up at age 18 why is it that Espo didn't come up until age 22 if he was so great?

In 65,66,67 playing with the great Bobby Hull Espo only had

55,53 and 61 points why is that?

Espo could park his ass in the crease because he was strong. Espo was good but nowhere near the player Orr was.

  • @geocgeo

Yeah, it's better to check what you say when you call someone a dumb fuck, you may look silly like you just did.

About what Espo says in the video, I would probably have said the same thing if I was with a microphone at the Garden in front of Orr, it's fun to cheer the crowd up. But in Gretzky's bio, Espo clearly says who's the best.

About those 65-66-67 seasons, they are really great (not awesome), top 10 in the league on two of them.

  • @Irato99 Nice try dude. He says the best passer, saw the ice the best. He does not say that Gretzky was the greatest ever. On many occasions he does say that Orr was the best dman ever. AND... on two occasions that I have seen he calls Orr the greatest. On most occasions he thought he (Espo) was the greatest of all time...and this can be seen in how he answers most of these questions. On a talk show he states Orr is the best he ever played with..played with 99 in All Star games

  • If Bobby Orr's knees didn't betray him, he would have been in the Top 10-20 in scoring.
