@yankee76 Hey Yankee...I'm glad you liked the vid. I've been using my net every day for about 6 months and it is pretty indestructible. The only weakness is some occasional side-to-side tilt. It's pretty insignificant, and if I wanted to stop that I thought about attaching metal brackets to the two upper corners, which would solve that. Or if outdoors I thought about attaching rope and stakes to the upper corners to minimize tilt. But truthfully, it's sturdy enough as is. Enjoy!
@stewartgpa Hey Stewartgpa...I went ahead and listed all the materials and dimensions in the information found just below the video. Don't feel like you are stuck with these though...you can make yours pretty much any size you want. I made mine pretty big (7' tall and 8' wide) only because the actual netting I used is 8' tall and 10' wide. That said, I do like my big net so I can use it in my living room and not worry about putting a hole through a wall. Good luck!
@rcas1202 Hey rcas...A foot and a half of clearance behind the net may be cutting it close, even with the more lofted clubs. One thing you could do is make the net more taut (less slack on the net) to minimize how far the ball can push it. Be careful though, because you don't want the net so tight that the ball flies back at you like a trampoline! You may have to play around with the amount of slack on the net to get it just right.
@rcas1202 The other option is to use some heavier material as the net...like a tarp, or tent material, or a thick blanket. It wouldn't look as nice as actual netting, but the heavier material would stop the ball quickly without much give. The downside to using heavier material as the net is that it would put more strain on the frame. If you needed a stronger frame for that you could use aluminum poles from the hardware store instead of PVC. Good luck!
Simple, yet effective. After seeing this video, I had to go and build one myself. I couldn't find 1 5/8" PVC and had to go with 1 1/2" which seems to be plenty sturdy. Instead of using string/rope, I used black zip ties to secure the net to the frame and I must say, it looks very clean. I'm loving my new golf net and just wanted to say thanks for sharing this video!!!
Great vid man...im going to build one for myself, one question....do u use regular golf balls or the ones that comes for practice (like ones that have holes and are not that heavy, usually made of plastic)??? and by the way....nice song!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ydlanzitro Thanks ydlanzitro. I use regular golf balls. You could use the plastic whiffle plastic balls, but I really wanted to be able to hit real golf balls at full speed for practice, so this net does a real good job for that. The idea for this project actually started because I was hitting the plastic balls in my yard, but I really wanted to feel like I'm at the driving range hitting real balls so this worked out well. Glad you like my song...I'm waiting for my Grammy.
@bbunch05 thanks man, the video really helped, i already bougth the pvc and going for the net today, can u send me that song via email???? i want to use it as a ringtone for my cell, GOLF NET LALALAL GOLF NET!!!!!!!!!!!! ill send u my email on a private message
@ydlanzitro OK I'll try to email you file for the song. Some of my friends have also asked me to send them the song for a ringtone...they think it's so funny. I spent 2 1/2 days working on the actual video, and about 5 minutes on that stupid song, but the song seems to be the hit. People I work with sing it to me all the time. I hope you are a little more computer saavy than I am because I may need some help figuring out how to do this.
@ydlanzitro I did not save my song on a separate file...it is embedded in the video, so I am going to try to extract it from the video editing program I used.
@bbunch05 ohhhhhh ok doing it that way, NO IDEA, LOL ill guess ill try to do it the oooold way ( record the audio of the video and then edit) but if u can make it, ill love to have the song
@MrBerndog07 Hey Berndog...I used the 3/4" knotted nylon netting (8' x 10'). The cost of just this netting was $50, but I opted for the braided dacron rope border option which added $36 to the cost. So I spent a total of $86 for the netting total. I think you could do just fine without the dacron border, but I think it would give your project some longer life, especially if you use it a lot like I do. I've been using mine for 6 months now with no breakdown at all. Good luck!
@chunkychad3 Hey Chad...the net dimensions are 8' x 10'. I got the net first and then built the frame to match the net (so for height the frame is 7' for the 8' tall net, and for width the frame is 8' wide for the 10' wide net). If you are a decent golfer I don't think you need a net this big, but I built it when I was just beginning golf and my ball might fly anywhere. If I had to do it again I might build the frame 6' by 6' which I think would be plenty big, with smaller net. Thanks Chad
You are awesome! I am going to build one now. I paid 150+ for golf net that fell apart in 2 months. Thanks for posting this.

I only have 1 foot 1/2 behind the net. Will this be deep enough to hit real golf balls? I am not planning to use my driver or long irons.
