The funny thing about a Canadian accent is that it took me years of talking to United Statesians to finally hear the differences in some of the words I say. I thought I spoke like a native Californian until I came to hear the differences.

I know! It's so subtle when you're immersed in Canadian culture. Small things like sometimes leaving off the w sound on the end of snow, and just leaving it as sno like a Minnesotan. Or pronouncing the 'ous' in house as the 'oss' in gross. Again, no subtle w sound. And naturally there's the 'about' which we're accused of twisting into aboot when really it's said one of 3 ways: either correctly with the ou like house or the oa like boat or with the u like put. But we never, ever, ever say aboot.
