I had no idea that Mark Linkous had killed himself until I clicked on this video. My only consolation comes from the fact that this will only reinforce this genius's status as the rock legend that he is and will forever be. RIP, Mark. Thanks for helping me get through my youth and contributing to who I am today. As insignificant as that might be, I swear that few people can claim that.

Yesterday, I heard there was a Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Cd out and got all excited. New Sparklehorse! When I did a search though, the summaries said: Sparklehorse was... WAS? I was hoping he had broken up the band to create something new... I read an article and he had broken up the band, permanently.

I preferred his slow and sad stuff more, I'm not sure why he had these two strands to his music, the kind of REM-lite radio friendly rock like this, and the dark stuff. Gimme the dark stuff. Very sad that he's gone and I'm even sadder that I only got to see the band once. It was a quiet gig and I probably could have spoken to him afterwards, wish I had now.

this was the original of sick...mark linkus wrote this and played all instruments per usual on all of his writings and self recorded in his studio..

Linkus released a new album under the Sparklehorse name last year. It's called "Dreamed for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain." He also recorded a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" for the Lords of Dogtown soundtrack a few years back. He's doing fine.
