i have a very simple way to make ringtones for this phone. use youtube downloader. down the video you want to use as a ringtone. use (video pad) video editor, edit the video to the part you want to use as a ringtone. then use opell video to 3gp converter. set the profile on the editor to 3gpp2 - 3rd generation pathnership project 2. to convert the video to 3g2 format. nomore then 512kb place it in the dcim 100ssmed on the memory card. it will show the video in your album instead of a red x.

I use goldwave to slice out a 9 second piece of a song. I save it in WMA format using windows movie maker. I use your program to make the 3g2 file, but it sounds horrible no matter what setting I use. Any tips?

Ok guys who says it does not work. once you put memory card in it will format card. do as he says in vid all is true. now once in phone. go to where ever you want the ringer to be used. it will save but when it gets done dont forget to save in your edit screen also. ps make sure you convert it to 3g2 like he says. this works for any sprint phone that has video ringer.

Do you know if this works for the Samsung Gloss SCH-U440 ? I'm pizzed that I bought a phone and the only way i can add ringtones is to pay for them thru US Cellular data plan easyedge. Gloss won't recognize any ringtone files i have in the ringtone folder on my sd card. If this will work for the Gloss, I'll buy a usb data cable to hard connect to my pc.

You have a micro SD? If so, get an adapter and try to do this, step by step. I'm not familiar with your phone, but maybe you can try to rename the file extension ON YOUR PHONE from .mp3 (or any other one that you have right now) with .3g2 or .3gp.

Don't use a midi file. And the only reason why you can't hear anything that I can think of right now is that you didn't use the right files. Converting a WMV to 3g2 is how it should be done. To be sure it's not the file, try using a different file first, then if that works and you did everything exactly the same, then the file can't be done.

Alright. This is pissing me off. Someone asked a question earlier, and no one answered it. They just skipped ahead and answered other questions except for his. Why does it piss me off? You can't. Reason why is because your phone thinks your ringtone is a video file. Therefore it is actually playing a video while your friends call.

NOTICE!!!!!!!! you need to add a picture (if you dont what it to apper when people call you us e a solid black picture/ square) you need the picture so the file gets converter into 3g2 @ 176x220 IF THERE IS NO PICTURE (only file) it would be converted at 176x144 and the phone will choose the defult ringtone!!! hope 2 help sum ppl!! who had this problem like m c(:

to those who have the exclaim this works. but keep this in mind

1. dont rename the converted file

2.keep it in the memory card or in the phone memory however you first transferred it if you transfer it by phone it will corrupt it.

Sadly I haven't found a way and I don't think there is a way since you can only select from the "My Stuff," "Melodies," and "Ring Tones." None of which, that I know of, are stored in the SD.

There's no reason why it shouldn't work. Try closing out of the program and opening it back up, and select a simple file directory such as "Videos."

You can record a video off the phone cam and use it for the ringtone. However, the quality isn't all that great. You have to make sure you saved it in the correct file location. The big X simply means you have no video with it, which is fine. And the reasoning behind it going back to the default is that the file size is too large. Cut it down more. That's the only reason for that.

On the left column, there is a blue folder. Click that, and choose where ever you want to save the file too. Directory is another way of saying folder, pretty much. I saved mine to the Videos, you can do the same if you want.

The only possible answer I can come up with, is that you aren't saving the Movie File to make it a WMV/WAV format (depending on if you used a screensaver or picture with it.) But you said you are doing everything explained, therefore, I have no clue on why it would be doing that. The program has a codec that encodes 3g2 files from WAV

A codec encodes or decodes specific data.

I once got that error before too, however, I have not figured out how to pass by it. What I did, though, was restart the program. I closed it, reopened it, and started to convert the files. All went well. Try that first, but I will continue to figure out the problem in case of continuous fail.
