Why the hell are people idolizing this lunatic?! He's not a hero or a victim. He made tens of thousands of dollars selling property adjacent to his auto shop and then freaked when he had to follow zoning requirements that would have cost a few thousand dollars to perform. Instead of making the necessary changes his solution was to bankrupt his business and spend all his money to buy a bulldozer and weaponize it. I sympathize with law enforcement officers who have to deal with these crackpots.

Also local and state law enforcement officials evacuated buildings they suspected he would target. Heemeyer was armed and had every intention of injuring/killing people. It was only peace officer's professional attitude, training and coordination that averted disaster.
