  • A cell can create a duplicate cell. This means one cell creates the molecules necessary for two cells. Where do the atoms necessary come from to create the molecules necessary to create a duplicate cell from nothing?

  • its so simply an basically shown, but it hides all the details like the different staged and terms of processes like chiasmata and tetrad,etc..

  • I'm taking the option on this part of my final

  • This is not even 2 minutes long and im falling asleep!! Stupid finals :P

  • not unless u tell me in my sleep what u want.

  • who has finals soon?

  • I masturbated to this. Meiosis is so hot. .... I'm kidding! This was really helpful thanks for the upload

  • This is much easier to understand than nearly any textbook diagram.

  • This is so stupid

  • The music is like in an adventure movie of the 60s

  • What does it mean "one set from mother, one set from father" if gametes are formed either in the mother or father?

    Wtf?

  • @RainfulPhenix uh... he means the chromosomes...

  • HOW THE FUCK DID I GET HERE FROM A MW3 COMMENTARY???!!!

  • i have a Meiosis fetish...

  • when i saw the username i thought it said porn hub

  • awesome

  • My teacher was showing this video to us during Bio the other day and he scrolled down for a second and the whole class started laughing hysterically from the 2nd top comment. lol

  • what`s with the sub title? "for my toasters?"

  • Thank you c:

  • Thanks for posting this! really helped me understand it :)

  • I look at this guys username and the first related video on my phone is by nubmaster27 xD

  • Anyone else realize what this guy's username is?

  • Why I am studying this jesus! Hmm beter than be a automechanist

  • uuff, i have to wipe the sweat of my forhead, this some complicate shit !

  • @FristOneStoned Taking a while guess here, so take it easy, but are you stoned as your username insists?

  • Thankyou!

  • @misswildcat115 Same here.

  • In what way does he mean randomly at 0:43 ???

  • @Potaetis he means that the chromosomes do not line up in an ordered/predetermined fashion, i.e. all the mother's chromosomes on the left and all the father's on the right. they are arranged randomly. you could have 19 father chromosomes on the left side and the rest on the right, or any other combination as long as the total number of chromosomes ends up in the daughter cell.

  • im trying to wrap my head around the whole recombination concept... why does it happen, and how does it affect the offspring?

  • @BigBallaShotCalla15

recombination occurs in order to increase genetic diversity amongst the offspring. when the dyads cross over in prophase 1, some genes from the mother's and father's chromosome are exchanged in order to increase diversity in the offspring. for example, you may receive a chromosome from your mother that has part of your father's genetic info on it, or vice versa.

  • @misswildcat115 same here. And i have to have a test on it. Yay! Not

  • i find this hard to masturbate to

  • @FakeDicck I find it quite easy

  • @FakeDicck Probably because of your "FakeDicck".

  • AWESOME.

    VERY HELPFUL, THANKYOU

  • @authorkaytlan101 chuck norris

  • Thank you so very much! I have been delivered from an evil science teacher who expects us to know what the f*** meiosis is when she hasn't even taught us yet!

  • Greece owns Biology Terms! :D

  • Does anybody have a video about vegetal meiosis? Please ^^

  • Atleast now...

Believe this is not made by god...

    isn't it too much complex......

  • God is so AWESOME!!!!!

  • Prophase 1: 0:00-0:43

    Metaphase 1: 0:43-0:50

    Anaphase 1: 0:50-1:00

    Telophase 1 and Cytokinesis: 1:00-1:12

    Prophase 2: 1:12-1:20

    Metaphase 2: 1:20-1:28

    Anaphase 2: 1:28-1:33

    Telophase 2: 1:33-1:49

    ;D

  • @ChaosnachdemTod19 You are my hero.

  • @ChaosnachdemTod19 thank you, i needed this for my biology project

  • It wasn't god, it was actually aliens. Sorry :(

  • @porschey333 then who made the aliens? :P

  • More useful than wiki.

  • @mickieo25 I know, isn't it absolutely AMAZING the way God created the reproduction cycle? No human mind in the world could ever design something so complex.

"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female." - Jesus Mark 10:6

  • @Sistarovat meiosis seems to be trasitional from mitosis...instead of PMAT making exact copies but PMAT-PMAT making copies with half sets that can recombine. since mitosis came first, evolution or descent with modification explains thsi nicely

  • I don't get it. What is really happening?

  • @kinghunde cells are forming aka u in da egg forming in yo momma

  • I love the soundtrack for this.

  • @beverleykatherine Ocarina of time-esc

  • Okay this video basically lacks these important terms.

    1. Synapsis

    2. Tetrad Formation

  • Poliuyunmh

  • okay, i'm quite confused...

you know how sources say that haploid cells have only half the number of chromosomes of diploid cells? but they aren't really chromosomes are they? they're chromatids..........

this is what makes meiosis so difficult for me >:(

  • At the teleophasa 2 at the end of proces I think there are 92 chromosomes :A

  • Below is a short description of what is seen in the video. It was sort of difficult to figure out cuz the video is way too fast. If you still don't understand there are many videos that describe this so much better :) But I hope this helps!

  • Profase I (Consists of 5 stages: Leptotene 0:5, Zygotene0:12, Pachytene at 0:27 (when crossing over occurs and the chiasma is formed), Diplotene 0:50 and Diakinesis 0:56 (nucleolus disappear). then Metaphase I at 0:58, Anaphase I at 1:02. Citokinesis (division of the cell) begins at 1:5 - 1:10 Then there is a second division that starts with Profase II that ends when the chromosomes migrate to the ecuator of the cell at 1:26, see "Continuation"below

  • @ReivenBlade27 thank u

  • @brit387

    You're welcome :)

  • Continuation>> very fast Metaphase II at 1:27 (Chromosomes are aligned in the ecuator but centromeres have not yet divided), Anaphase starts when the centromeres divide aprox. 1:28 and end when they have reached the poles at 1:33 then at 1:33 starts Telophase II when they uncoil, lengthen and stain less deeply, chromatin is formed, and the nuclear membrane and nucleolus reappear.

  • How many of you think this music is distracting? I think it is.

  • IMPORTANT Q : how many chromosomes or pairs of chromosomes are there in each cell at 0:59?????

  • No wonder why it took 4 billion years to get where we are

  • nailed it

  • sorry the website showed errors that`s why my answer appeared that many times

  • and what was I talking about? There are not enough proofs to show how Big Bang happened. You can believe whatever you want!

  • @TheDoraCatalina That's why it's called the Big Bang THEORY, and not the Big Bang FACT. juust like how evolution is a THEORY as well. go look up the definition, compare and contrast to the definition of fact

  • @ybidiotic I don`t care about any of that. I have my beliefs and you have yours and that`s it.

  • Can some one help me out please,

    1. wth the germ cell precursor, and why does it have both maternal and paternal chromosomes?

    2. why does meiosis of this germ cell, which from the video result in 4 gametes, have variations? gametes are sperms and eggs right? how can our sex cells have variations when they divide?

  • @SoujaCow

    2. at 0:38 the crossing over. This process shuffles genes between chromosomes and creates variation between the sex cells.

  • so everything in the bible is a lie...

  • @capetorial how is the bible a lie?

  • @kristenanne18 I know i'm not part of this conversation, but I think I can answer your question. I used to be a Christian myself and growing up the bible was quite different from scientific evidence, making the topic very confusing for me. Especially, the whole evolution/creation theories. Since it's not good to question "God's word", I had to look in this myself. Not only reading the bible answers some controversial items, but also looking into the bible's history show some words were changed.

  • GO CHROMOSOMES GO!

  • I feel sorry for all people who accept religion and make decisions in life based on reglious factors. You're god doesn't exist, there is no heaven and hell. It is all made up like santa claus, and the easter bunny, by humans, to give false hope and make people believe there is life after death... The truth is YOU'RE GOING TO DIE, nothing can stop that, and after death... THERE IS NOTHING. SO MAKE THIS LIFE, THE BEST YOU CAN OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

  • @YouJamesDoranTube how will u regret t if u died and never lived again.

  • Nothing "goddish" happens here, just the laws of quantum field theory that are yet to be discovered... Shut up you religious people and embrace the true order of nature

  • I'm going to start looking up religious videos and start-up conversations about science.

  • @mickieo25 Another arrogant atheist? IT CANNOT BE! :)

  • @fandanstan Make that two.

  • wish they'd list the stages.

  • @lilteenyweenytuna Premiotic Interphase, Prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Telophase I, Interkinesis, Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II, Haploid Cells

  • Music which begin at 1:23 gave me the chills

  • The narrator sounds like the guy from the Disney World parks

  • dammit! it's so hard to be a Christian. everything I go to there's an attack on God even on a science video. I wish mankind would grow the hell up already.

  • @saintstrawman You do realize that it's the religious side that's attacking science, right? Is the scientific community just suppose to sit there helplessly while under attack by pinheads?

You should grow the hell up. Nobody's attacking your god, just his followers.

  • @anvita99 damn a little hostile are we? lemme guess, somebody did something wrong to you & you blamed God. same old story. get over urself.

  • @saintstrawman Judging by your first comment, you're the hostile one--hostile that science is making religion unnecessary.

Don't you know how to read? I'm NOT attacking your god. I'm the one that has to get over myself when you're arrogant enough to think that you know "my story"? How can I blame ANYTHING on something that doesn't exist, like your god?

Take your flawed logic and hypocrisy elsewhere.

  • @anvita99 "Judging by your first comment" I wasn't being serious when I made it look like I was angry. see why you can't trust your own senses? "my story" no but I know how the human will works in light of God & it's usually the same story. "flawed logic" wait, I'm not the materialist here, you are. you profess the most irrational possible faith: that 747's evolve out of scrap metal with no intelligent pre-ordinance. how do u expect to use ur mind when u don't even believe that mind exists?

  • Comment removed

  • @saintstrawman I didn't stop believing in God due to some "horror." It's just a work of logic, like when you stop believing in Santa.

Materialist? Now you're just making assumptions. See why you can't trust your own senses?

[that 747's evolve out of scrap metal with no intelligent pre-ordinance.]

Nobody ever professed that. If you think they do, you're out of your mind.

[u don't even believe that mind exists]

    You're a troll, right?

DON'T make assumptions and DON'T put words in people's mouths.

  • @anvita99 "work of logic" oh? & what cause-effect rationality brought you to the point in saying that sovereign mind doesn't exist? thats what God is. "when you stop believing in Santa" St. Nicholas was a Jesuit-trained Catholic theosophist. The only reason he was elevated to godhood was to be an idol in the place of Christ to confuse the entire mass from a young age into associating the spiritual reality of God with pagan myth. Santa is baphomet ideology but u think it came out of the blue.

  • @saintstrawman [sovereign mind doesn't exist] Depends how you define "sovereign mind." I'll gladly answer your questions, on the condition that you don't continue to manipulate my words.

[u think it came out of the blue]

No, I don't. Again, you're manipulating my words. Santa Claus, a magical, jolly, reindeer-flying man and St. Nicholas are two different people--don't equivocate them. You don't believe in Santa Claus, the magical-based myth, for the same reason I don't believe in your god.

  • @saintstrawman My explanation is a little long, so would you prefer a private message conversation?

  • @anvita99 Please.

  • 80 percent of people in the world doesnt appreciate science... im not one of them... science is my most favorite subject (2nd is math)

  • I don't know which to believe: Religion or Science.

P.S. I'm Roman Catholic and studies in an Augistinian school

  • @kissmeshocked7997 Science. It has the evidence to back up its claims. Good luck in school!

  • @anvita99 Thank you :D

  • I WOULD TAP THAT + SLAM THAT IN DA ASS ;)

  • Meosis WANK SESH

  • Meiosis gets me horny

  • whoa... i just remembered i learnd this in grade 9! O_O err well taught it in grade9... for a science calss...not a biology class... wonder why they would teach something like this to grade 9's...?

  • Excellent explaination of meiosis

  • only 3 cromosome? not human :D is like a very simple ... maybe insect? :D very small for sure :D

  • It is funny for me to see people discussing about religious in a scientific video comment.

  • @kod6972 it's funny how you got thumbs up for doing the exact same thing you're complaining about.

  • @kod6972check out this History Channel - The Universe | Beyond the Big Bang Full Documentary (Greek). Our chemistry teacher showed us in chem class. Turns out that science and religion are interrelated.:)

  • @TheDoraCatalina guessing you are from america. science and religion generally don't go well with each other, but you can believe in what ever you want. ur science teacher should be reported though for showing u that in class. it's illegal to teach religion in public schools in the usa. forgive my english, im from belgium, cheers!

  • @WagglyApples It depends on what you understand through religion. Generally, all human beings on this Earth believe there is something greater than all of us somewhere, and that something created the entire Universe. Science cannot explain this miracle of how the Universe was created, they can only speculate on it. No one holds the truth. So sorry our teacher was just being realistic. Take care!!

  • @WagglyApples u can teach religion if it has to do with the class you just can't try to force a certain religion on the students...

  • @93nenita "you just can't try to force a certain religion on the students..."

Now that is a very un-american attitude.

  • @TheDoraCatalina no, not really. ive seen what you are talking about.

  • @mhsaccount and am I talking about? I was taking about the Big Bang. There are not enough proofs on how it happened. Can you contradict that?:)

  • @mhsaccount and am I talking about? I was taking about the Big Bang. There are not enough proofs on how it happened. Can you contradict that?:)

  • And yes...great video...great lesson, well planned and demonstrated

  • If you don't like religion...try philosophy. Moral reasoning backed by logic. Try "stoicism" as taught by Greek philosopher Epictetus.

  • Really, guys, why are you discussing this here? Please keep the discussion relevant to the video. It doesn't matter if you're christian, muslim or even scientologist, religion has nothing whatsoever to do with this.

    ---

This is a fantastic video, it explains the process much better than my textbook, so thank you very much for uploading it, there was one part which I have been killing myself over for several hours, but now it makes perfect sense and I feel ridiculous for having missed it,cheers!

  • According to the bible, from the time that God created the Earth, there has been many generations of man... unfortunately, if you add up the generations and life expectancies.. It adds up up to about 6000 years... So science, given the proof through carbon dating etc proves that the bible is a load of storytime opinion pushing crap.. And if you approach a christian with this argument then you get told that its "metophorical"!!! Wake up guys.. your not selling it

  • We all have our ideals in life and some of us share views, some of us do not. Some of us just want some scientific facts so we can get a degree, go out into the world and make some sort of positive difference in some way. Surely no matter what you believe, this is an acceptable past-time for you. Keep your thoughts to yourself because shouting about religion on a video about meiosis is not going to change anything. Go and do something positive with your life.

  • thanks for uploading this i have my A2 exam tomorrow and this made it alot clearer (:

  • I kept thinking Meiosis was after fertalisation.. .and it confused me as to how the babies cells could carry half the genetic info... :S

but now i know it's the gaemete cells :)

    thank you for the vid

  • @poyanator and the two haploid gametes fuse and we get a 2n diploid zygote! :)

  • Hey, im a student in Malaysia. I'm just wondering at what age are American students started learning Meiosis in Biology?

  • chromosomes are gettin it on!

  • LOL @ the first shuffle of natures genetic deck!!!!

  • Is God mentioned in this vid? NO. STOP ARGUING.

  • Wow...thanks...

  • Cant tell if trolling... Or very intolerant people

  • cool!

  • omigod! i get it now! And I somehow managed to do this without getting into a religious debate! Where's my trophie?

  • just a meiotic division)))

  • Comment removed

  • People need to realise that science and religion are the same thing. You need to belive in both to be sure about life.

  • Comment removed

  • @gypsiecat1 I said sure about life, read properly.

  • @mryoto123 I did. I don't believe in any religion but I am sure im alive.

  • @gypsiecat1 I never said you're dead if you don't belive in either ( see you didn't read properly). I said you are not sure about life and its meaning.

  • @mryoto123 hmmm please tell me why this is. I'm intrested now. What is the meaning to life. For me its to live happily believing that I am a mostly decent human. What is there that im missing by not believing in a unpersonalized religion that thinks it knows everything and is always right?.

  • @gypsiecat1 If you only belive in science, you wouldn't belive in positive and negative energy like if one person in the room is upset, it generally affects everyone. Also there are other belifs that you are unaware of. If you only belive in religion, you do not understand how life works and the way everthing works.

If there was no religion this would be a crime ridden world.

If there was no science, we would still be cooking food above a stack of wood.

  • @mryoto123 You think all people are so terrible that if there was no allmighty parent figure everyone would commit crimes? I sure hope not! Cooking food over a stack of wood would not be the biggest downside to not having science. Getting the wood and food would be.

PS: Psychology is a science and more then that we can even know what causses us to be upset with science (on a biological level)

Religion is important of course but religion should be an idea not a belief, a personalized idea.

  • @gypsiecat1 Yh, but how would you know what a crime is? All crimes are based on sins and therefore no sins means savagery. Cooking on top of wood was a metaphor of where wh still would have been withought the devolopment of science. This world has devoloped by science and MOST people are taught how to be humans by religion.

  • @mryoto123 Oh really you think so? You think laws are based off religion? laws are based off common sense and the golden rule. You just said something very ignorant. The Code of Hamarabi was not based off sin it was based off what right and its one of the earliest code of law ever made.

  • @gypsiecat1 Ahem... the "Golden Rule" came from Jesus in the Book of Matthew. Thank you for proving yourself wrong. Furthermore, Hammurabi's Code was severely intolerant and to be blunt, extreme. Hardly, based of what was "right." Just look it up. Anyone can recall vague information from high school history classes and misuse them in a debate. Not too impressive.

  • @T412playa fuck you if you think people wouldn't be decent without religion fine im over with your stupid unlogical opinions!!!

  • @T412playa [Ahem... the "Golden Rule" came from Jesus in the Book of Matthew.]

Looks like somebody needs a history lesson. The "Golden Rule" has been found in the Mahabharata, the Babylonian Talmud, the Analects of Confucius, the Tibetan Dhammapada, the Hadith...and finally, the Bible. Christianity has plagiarized from many religions, so this is nothing new.

In any case, it's not as if the Golden Rule can apply to everything. A rapist could easily use this as justifications for his actions.

  • I have nothing against people's beliefs and religion, but I fucking hate it if your shoving it down my throat. I DON'T force you to not believe in god. I like to believe to what i believe and so do you. I just don't want to believe in people who believed in witchcraft back then.

  • There is no need to fight. If you believe we started from evolution, then it is. If you believe God created human, then it is. You can't change one's mindset.

  • @flygonex10 There is no need to fight, but there's no harm in discussion. And no, you can certainly change one's mindset. People should be open-minded towards where the evidence points, not a blind allegiance towards whatever ideas. If you believe whatever without evidence, you're just gullible.

  • @anvita99 Evidence? So how do people got recovered from cancer? Can you tell me? How a tumour disappear suddenly? Oh! Science also can't explain that. :)

Or do you want another example? We talk about fossils? do you even know how fossils are formed? huh? Fossils can be formed in the dirt after billions of years. Please go search for a 'fish giving birth' fossil. How do you explain that? Fish giving birth for billions of years? :)

  • @flygonex10 So you're trying to say that God is up there making random tumors vanish, instead of helping out African starving children or amputee victims? How come amputee victims can never recover? Logic can explain that pretty well, and it can explain tumors, too. Just because you don't know doesn't mean you need to come up with magical answers.

As for fossils, I'm pretty convinced you're just switching the topic to whatever. You are truly clueless, and have no idea what you're saying.

  • @anvita99 So tell me, who's fault is it that those children are starving? US spends trillions of dollars going to war. People are corrupt and this affects the surroundings including starvation. If those people had the morality that came from God, we wont have this. This things surrounding you shows how bad humans are but instead you blame God for this SINS that human makes.. Repent and you will not have the surprise of your life...

  • @gianboy2001 [If those people had the morality that came from God, we wont have this.]

So you're telling me that God's morals are to stay in the dark and never help those in need? To command baby-killing, homophobia, misogyny, racism, slavery, and condemnation of knowledge? Have you ever read the Old Testament?

The US also spends money on CHARITY. As much as you'd like to think humans suck, two hands working do a whole lot more than a thousand clasped in prayer.

  • @gianboy2001 [This things surrounding you shows how bad humans are but instead you blame God for this SINS that human makes]

I never did that. Please don't put words in my mouth. I can't blame anything on something that doesn't exist. What exists is the mythological figure of the Bible, and nothing more.

[Repent and you will not have the surprise of your life...]

I love how every Christian ends their argument with the threat of Hell. Gee, I wonder if you're at risk for the Islam hell?

  • @anvita99 I am not putting words in your mouth. Go read you last message and read it carefully. You're the one who thinks I am ending my argument. I'm still here responding. Some Jews and Muslim believe that they can go on each others temple and worship God. So for your question, I am not worried going to Islams hell. If some Jews believe that we are worshiping Abraham God in Muslim temple then there is nothing for me to worry about. I pity you that's why I said repent. Again you should repent

  • @gianboy2001 [You're the one who thinks I am ending my argument.]

Yes, you ended the paragraph with Hell threats in that individual argument. It's hilarious that you're more concerned about ENDING the argument than you threatening me with Hell.

Why should I repent? If I do something wrong, I should fix it and take responsibility for my wrongdoings, not scapegoat it onto Christ, just to appease an ego-bruise God. This doesn't make me a "better person."

  • @gianboy2001 [Some Jews and Muslim believe that they can go on each others temple and worship God.]

And of course, that's not true, is it? Religions fundamentally contradict each other. "Besides me there is no other god; there never was and never will be. I alone am the Lord, the only one who can save you. I predicted what would happen, and then I came to your aid. No foreign god has ever done this; you are my witnesses." --Isaiah 43:10-12

DEISM is not the same as religion.

  • @anvita99 Please if you don't know the bible stop typing like you know what you are writing.. retard.. Again, Jews and Muslim the God of Moses. I dont know why you even bother to go on google and type "one god verse in the bible" Please again, this proves that you believe everything Richard Dawkins say. I'll give you an analogy, you are arguing with your boyfriend/girlfriend because someone just told u she/he was with someone. What you did is you didn't give the other side "see next comment"

  • @gianboy2001 [Please if you don't know the bible]

You never learn...I told you to STOP making assumptions. I was a Christian for over 11 years--freethought set ME free from religion. I'm sorry you're so trapped that you have no clue how to escape the mental chains religion has set on you.

    [retard]

If you're going to call me names, at least have a reason? You're starting to look so defensive. It's really quite sad. Must be frustrating to have no evidence on your side.

  • @anvita99 Since you think YOU HAVE the answer for everything then how do you explain how it is possible for a protein to be made. I am assuming that you DON'T know that it takes roughly 500 amino acids to form a protein and those amino acids have to be in the right sequence. Let alone to have those right proteins to form a single cell which again needs to be in sequence.. Explain it please.. And please try to make it simple so everyone can see your belony explanation... I WILL BE WAITING.....

  • Comment removed

  • @gianboy2001 "Hmmm what evidence?"

When I quoted the Bible and you got mad. Religions contradict each other. You just said, "NO, that's not true!" and didn't prove your own claim with evidence.

I will glady answer your Science question the moment you answer the 5 questions I posted. Don't expect to get off the hook so easily. Be honest for once in your life, please. You're very frustrating to talk to, since you hardly ever reply and just change the topic. Answer my 5 questions.

  • @anvita99 Post the other 4 questions you ask and start researching about how to answer my question.. You said that Jews God and Muslim God is not the same. Infact if you have a little understand in the Bible and Qu'ran then you would know is that they both worship the God of Abraham so I reacted to what you said because you don't make sense at all. You are an atheist and I am Christian so I think I would know something about my belief. For all I know is that you are the one not answering...
