"obscure location in southwest illinois"??? wtf are you talking about?! This is in Joliet IL, a rather large IL city in the northeast portion of the state....
so what's the deal with the scrap yard? Is it the shorter the path the greater the obstacle or can you just skip all the cars by running around them to make good time?

@travro25 The scrap yard is one of the many obstacles you must cross really there is no short cut. You can skip an obstacle in the hopes of getting better time but you are disqualified, so no matter how great your time is it won't count. Also doing all the obstacles is the fun part of the race.
@gwendygay Thanks for the suggestion! I should of did that in the very beginning. A lot has to do with how crappy the camera is. Otherwise, the next go should be interesting!
just signed up for the one in texas and it's nice to see what im up against. but man im gonna have to run a good first mile to get ahead of those people.

@tiestoandy You get fast people at the front end that run pretty good times considering the obstacles and all that. The problems (if you want a fast race) are that A) they split the race into so many waves you may be the only fast guy in your section and all the quick guys are in other waves, and B) about 99% of the people are just in it for the fun of doing it. Not many participants care about going fast. Really, this race is for the fun factor anyway, if you win a prize its just a bonus.

I ran the Warrior Dash this last Saturday in Central Texas. So much fun! I am hooked, have to do it again :)

winner ran 21:46 for 6k last year. pretty quick considering they had to do all of the obstacles too.
