SSDI pmts don't start until 6mos AFTER approval. SSI is only for those w/less than $500 in assets.
SSI is for those with less than 2000 in assets. I was in the Marine Corps for two years. That sure seemed like work to me. Unfortunately my disability get me from gainful employment for such a time that I didn't have enough credits in the three years prior to get ssdi. I still don't whine on the 674 a month I get. I make do. You are still in the wrong.

They enabled this by requiring Freddie and Fannie have 50% of their loans on the books be minority or low income. Banks don't make money by making bad loans; govt made it so that banks could sell the bad loans off for that to happen. Wall Street naturally acted in its own best interests. Its govts fault in rewarding this behavior. Bad loans are only profitable from govt intervention.

Risk assessment is what insurance companies do. You want to pay them a small amount of money over time and then they risk having to pay out much more than you spent. That means they MUST look at your RISK when they review your initial application. Do you think a car insurance co. would insure you if you had 3 DUI's and 3 crashes involving injuries to others in the last 2-3 years? No they wouldn't. Why should they. Insurance is not a right. it's a service that you contract out for.

Australia tried to dismantle this sort of public health care under the previous government to follow US's footpath. How ironic is it that the tables have now turned and the US is moving towards public health care.

46 million people is a highly falsified #. THe real number is only about 12 million. We dont need 1 trillion worth of spending to cover those 11 million. Some of the 47 million are young high income people who CHOOSE not to have it. Some are people that are inbetween jobs and if you are uncovered for even 1 day then you are counted as uninsured. Some of those are illegals THAT ARE GETTING FREE CARE WITHOUT EVEN PAYINNG TAXES. This bill is a sham and government pisses our money away regularly.
Illegals are not in that stat. They are not "Americans" and they DO pay taxes. They pay sales taxes, they pay income taxes and they even pay Social Security taxes even though they will never get SS benefits. They don't want to get rid of them and neither do the legislators that take their contributions.

Forcing an insurance company to pay for treatment for a PE condition is like forcing a car insurance company to pay to fix your car from an accident that happened prior to you buying insurance. Even w/ the meds I take now for SLE (worst form of lupus), the ONLY 2 drugs & 1 product that is not covered under my current disability ins is generic Midrin b/c it's taken for an off-label reason (to abort migraines), an anti-anxiety med, which w/o I break into hives & often triggers migraines, as well as the tegaderm/Bioclsive cover (clear cover to hold IVs in place) to keep the fentanyl patch in place.

Total cost of my scripts if I had to pay out-of-pocket would be upwards of $2000 a month. Health "insurance" should be limited to catastrophic care. Getting your teeth cleaned or wisdom teeth removed or skin cancer screens are foreseeable preventive measures that can be planned for and saved for. Why bring an insurance company into that transaction? Why not save up for such things?
Because a lot of people spend every dime of their paycheck on their normal bills and don't have money to save up for a trip to the dentist. We would be in worse shape than we are now if we didn't have coverage for checkups.
I want health care reform. Insurance companies are rationing care to make huge profits, but the government hasn't been able to provide any program on budget. We would go from for profit insurance to incompetence (government) If single payer passes. I would like to see an independant non-profit health care "insurance" system for all citizens at a lower price. Without CEOs making $12 million a year or the government placing huge limiting restrictions on the patient or his/her doctor.

The fact that there are no-smoking laws is the result of the opinions of the average citizen against smoking in public places. People don't want you to smoke around them, because they find it to be an unpleasant condition. Therefore, laws are passed to deter you from smoking in PUBLIC places, period. That is not telling you how to live, that is protecting the rights of the American citizen to enjoy a smoke-free atmospheres in public places. Smoke all you want on your own god damned property.

Also, you need to do some reading. IF your sis & her DH get SSDI will depend on their work credits as to whether they get anything or not. Medicare doesn't come in until 2yrs AFTER approval. SSDI pmts don't start until 6mos AFTER approval. SSI is only for those w/less than $500 in assets.

Unfortunately my disability get me from gainful employment for such a time that I didn't have enough credits in the three years prior to get ssdi. I still don't whine on the 674 a month I get. They enabled this by requiring Freddie and Fannie have 50% of their loans on the books be minority or low income. I applaud our state services here. They do very well & do so w/o putting up toll booths.

This dept's job is to go through applications for insurance, and if you are a high-risk candidate, they turn you down flat for coverage.

Risk assessment is what insurance companies do. You want to pay them a small amount of money over time and then they risk having to pay out much more than you spent. That means they MUST look at your RISK when they review your initial application. Do you think a car insurance co. would insure you if you had 3 DUI's and 3 crashes involving injuries to others in the last 2-3 years? No they wouldn't. Why should they. Insurance is not a right. it's a service that you contract out for.

Australia tried to dismantle this sort of public health care under the previous government to follow US's footpath. How ironic is it that the tables have now turned and the US is moving towards public health care.
If the legislation CAN be distorted as such then there needs to be a better way to spell it out for all right at the start.

46 million people is a highly falsified #. THe real number is only about 12 million. We dont need 1 trillion worth of spending to cover those 11 million. Some of the 47 million are young high income people who CHOOSE not to have it. Some are people that are inbetween jobs and if you are uncovered for even 1 day then you are counted as uninsured. Some of those are illegals THAT ARE GETTING FREE CARE WITHOUT EVEN PAYINNG TAXES. This bill is a sham and government pisses our money away regularly.

Illegals are not in that stat. They are not "Americans" and they DO pay taxes. They pay sales taxes, they pay income taxes and they even pay Social Security taxes even though they will never get SS benefits. The irony of the illegal immigrant debate is that it's conservatives who are most outraged, yet it is the conservatives who contribute to the problem. To a corporation, an illegal is cheap labor. They don't want to get rid of them and neither do the legislators that take their contributions.

Those who have weaseled their way through the system and fraudulently gained an I.D. and SS card are the only ones who pay taxes. Most, not all but many websites are NOT set up to be blind-friendly & when I say blind-friendly I mean they are not set up for software screen readers to get all the information the same way a sighted person can get information. Bad things happen. Forcing an insurance company to pay for treatment for a PE condition is like forcing a car insurance company to pay to fix your car from an accident that happened prior to you buying insurance. No one likes bad circumstances but we don't resort to STEALING from 1 person to pay for the bad things that happen to another. DH takes approx 12 to 14 injections a day plus testing apprx 15 to 18 x a day in addition to his heart meds. So should we just pitch a tent at the hospital? BTW, an ER bill is much higher than a dr visit so it is actually cost-effective to have people going to dr's offices rather than using ERs like one. You have no concept of economics

Even w/ the meds I take now for SLE (worst form of lupus), the ONLY 2 drugs & 1 product that is not covered under my current disability ins is generic Midrin b/c it's taken for an off-label reason (to abort migraines), an anti-anxiety med, which w/o I break into hives & often triggers migraines, as well as the tegaderm/Bioclsive cover (clear cover to hold IVs in place) to keep the fentanyl patch in place.

Total cost of my scripts if I had to pay out-of-pocket would be upwards of $2000 a month. Bush shot down allowing Medicare/Medicaid from doing what the VA does, which is buy into group plans at the cheapest price so Big Pharma couldn't screw M/M. Bush wanted M/M, SSDI, and regular Social Security to fail. It's why he pushed to have SS/SSI/SSDI put in Stock Market. SOOO glad it failed!

Health "insurance" should be limited to catastrophic care. Getting your teeth cleaned or wisdom teeth removed or skin cancer screens are foreseeable preventive measures that can be planned for and saved for. Why bring an insurance company into that transaction? Why not save up for such things?

I want health care reform. Insurance companies are rationing care to make huge profits, but the government hasn't been able to provide any program on budget. We would go from for profit insurance to incompetence (government) If single payer passes. I would like to see an independant non-profit health care "insurance" system for all citizens at a lower price. Without CEOs making $12 million a year or the government placing huge limiting restrictions on the patient or his/her doctor.

The fact that there are no-smoking laws is the result of the opinions of the average citizen against smoking in public places. People don't want you to smoke around them, because they find it to be an unpleasant condition. Therefore, laws are passed to deter you from smoking in PUBLIC places, period. That is not telling you how to live, that is protecting the rights of the American citizen to enjoy a smoke-free atmospheres in public places. Smoke all you want on your own god damned property.

You want to take care of the lies, BRING BACK THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE!!!! The airways belong to the public and we supposedly control them . Yet corporations like Fox use them for their propaganda and fear mongering. With the fairness doctrine in place it wouldn't stop the Limbaugh's. Hannity's, and Beck's from spreading their vile pablum but would require an equal amount of time be given to opposing views. Further the news divisions would no longer be profit centers rather information suppliers.

Thank you Senator Sanders! We need reform now and we need the public option in particular. I already have better than average insurance but I don't want to live in a country where middle class people can't buy insurance and die because of it.

There are the two faces of healthcare. The guy who gets spoonfed lies and propaganda and Senator Sanders. There is a segment of our society that does not have the faculties to understand this issue. They are preyed upon by the healthcare insurance industry, misled and tossed on the trash heap when they've served their purpose. For the sake of small businessses, large businesses, state, local and Federal government, pass healthcare reform. Our future depends on it.

Were the only nation that Goes Bankrupt bailing out failed (health care) Nations and (Failed) National Conglomerate Billion dollar (Profit Taking) Business. Now can't afford a War but had one... can't afford national health-care... so lets have Health-care and a totally Bankrupt Nation.

I'm a civics major from Denmark and i have universal healthcare. I think it's a great idea and i believe it will drasticly improve the living standards of the average american person.

The rhetoric by right wing is changing to free market. "With gov. involment, the private insurance will go out of business"....In 1994 the same rhetoric and my primiums were high and coverage ok....15 yrs. later I'm paying more by 4fold and coverage is less.....if public option is available, my premiums would probably go down by the insurance company doing it voluntarily, don't you think?

If the majority of the people don't want it, the reason why doesn't actually matter. It's the politicians who serve the will of the people.
There are many very good and logical reasons why it's not good though. I hope the next video they pick an actual good argument other than things that are extreme and based on conspiracy theories.
One thing I'd ask is why don't they just educate health providers how Qliance eliminates insurance and government so their clinics are less expensive?
