Some say it's a Nokia ad. I think this a try at viral marketing for a movie, Nokia probably just paid item representation. The agency could have done a little better on some obvious things to make this believable. They stormed too much media and shouldn't have created the consiparacy for good website the way they did. I knew this was a hoax as soon as I saw a twitter link on the "Blackwell Briggs". Anyway, let's see where they're going with this.

This crap is a viral marketing thing for Nokia. If you do a whois on the blackwellbriggs website and the conspiracyforgood one you can see they're both run on servers of Bytemark Computer Consulting Ltd in York. Anyone who's spent any time on the site already knows this. I'm not ok with Nokia using people's frustrations at real situations of people dying in a game, even if they claim they want something good to come of it. It's an advertisement as far as I'm concerned.

@homecominghome I actually made that comment before the video you site was posted, and before the cfg site got a bit more open about the project goals. I stand by the statement that this is more about selling phones than helping humanity. Western excess ensures that quality of life for most of the 6 billion + people on earth can never significantly improve, corporations like Nokia are part of that excess. They're not the first to try this, but the game aspect makes it a bit more insulting.

@homecominghome I was really just referring to the video itself, the whole big brother, Blackwell Briggs, girl missing thing, which is certainly not genuine, but part of whatever's being set up. I haven't looked thoroughly but I believe the CFG website has pretty much come out with the info that the whole thing is an Alternate Reality Game. As far as whether everything involved is completely spurious, I agree with you that that would be presumptuous to state so soon and it wasn't my intent.

It appears to me after reading on the conspiracy for good website, that these videos are not intended to be a joke or to trick people. It looks like the beginning of an online narrative written by Heroes creator Tim Kring. There are lots of people out there that are oblivious to the fact that this type of thing takes place in the real world. A story by Tim Kring could draw millions of followers and as a result could lead to a greater awareness of real world problems.
