So very sad and the cost of vanity. It reminds me of a documentary on the Mardi Grais beads. They are made in China by people being paid ten cents an hour. They work six days a week, 14 hours a day and they aren't allowed to talk. Took the fun out of the party goers in New Orleans when they heard the background of their fun beads. The ower of the factory in China tried to say all his employees were well paid and happy. Right. Thanks for posting this. People should know.
@dictionarytables Yes. All for the vanity of people. I remember someone doing a documentary on the beads they use in the Mardi Gras and where they came from in China. The workers were paid 14 cents an hour in a 14 hour day, six days a week. They weren't allowed to speak to each other, etc. Horrible. The owner thought he was big stuff because he spoke English. So the reporters went to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and asked the celebrators if they knew where their beads came from? Sad.
if they dont obey the guerilla forces and dont dig for diamonds....villagers are killed or...cut their arms. To injure severly a person out of...lets say 4 is a military strategy adopted by US in Iraq and Vietcong in the Vietnamese war. It keeps another 2-3 persons away from the batlefield ,treating the pacient, so that the enemy will face weaker and smaller forces, and so that the guerilla forces have no real oposition ( in numbers )
diamonds dont kill people....and guns dont kill people...people kill people. if they want to kill one another...they will do with all what they can get their hands on...including the semenly valueless rocks we adore so much
but the people buying them don't care where they come from or how they are aquired. thats hte problem all over this world and its not only with diamonds but we have to start helping somewhere.....
CONT: kill people etc. just ask... can i get it certified? where is it from? russia? south africa? canada? etc the last time i saw a guy buy un marked diamond rough here in toronto.. the guy had his door busted in from the RCMP in no time. now everything turned out ok.. but its pretty hard to get your hands on a "blood diamond" if you deal with half decent people
u know its kinda like buying food. your dont like chickens living in crappy conditions laying eggs all day.. so u buy free range organic eggs.. right? well same kinda thing... u worried about the less then %1 chance u might get a blood diamond.. then buy something like a canadian diamond for example.. or research where the diamonds are coming from. just like how people look into if their food is organic or not. im just using this as an example. im just saying there are many mines that dont
the pictures of those damn rappers make me so angry.
even if they rent their diamonds, it's still costing all of those children so much...
their security, their limbs, their families, their lives.
I wonder if 50cent gives a rat's ass about anyone but himself...probably not judging by the bling he adorns himself with in nearly every picture and music video of himself out there.
@CHRISCOOBS dats how niggas or so dumd, there is no thing as black roots, black is a color not a race, so wit dat being said, u cant say the people that get killed over da diamonds, are my people
I always wonderer why this stones are worth su much money despite the fact that they are completely useless. Money attracts criminals like DeBeers and their footboys.
Where did you hear that statistic? Think, the industry has billions of dollars to insure that their image is clean and people keep handing over money for useless rocks. Not to say there are no non-conflict diamonds, but 97% seems overly generous considering Africa has most of earth's diamonds.
they do this for free in sudan right

As sad as this may be the unfortunate thing is that ANYTHING with great value is stained with blood, not just diamonds.
Nothing is exempt from this. Look at Oil, copper, gold, silver, aluminum, land.
If it is worth a lot of money someone is willing to kill for it and does.

An amazing insight, although very brief, into the process, the hurt, the suffering associated with getting something sparkly to the one you love.
Please do not be blinded by greed, buy only Conflict Free Diamonds.
