You are incredible and i love how you started with the intro, adding your own touch, and making it sound fun to play!. i hope i someday truly get to play as good you.
wow im a up coming ragtime player and i love seeing style to it i rate this sytle 10/10 but i wonderif u can still do it now make a new vid if u got the time and alert me
Thanks for the video! Started piano lessons a few months ago when I inherited my parent's 1890 Steinway (serial 67898). Always liked ragtime. When I need encouragement I play this vid. Great video, great playing. Thanks.
Nice job, but you got a bit out of control at the end. Scott Jopilin himself instructed that his rags be played more slowly than the pianist here did.
I normally like this song to sound like the original, But i must say this is by far my favorite "jazz type" recording of it. Good work, very , vereerry nice! I could watch this vid all day long.
wow--- how old are you - superb feeling for piano, nice performance. I remember myself age like you and never finish piano school. Now I,m nearly 50 and I,m again starting to play and finishing all the pieces i never finished. I see you have watching Big Rod Miller .
Is this the way the Maple Leaf Rag is played way out there on Prince Edward Island? :-) I LIKE IT!! :-) John Arpin, move over! Canadians really seem to "get it"! :-)
OMG, dude i am trying to learn this song, and it is difficult, but you just made me want to keep it up, wow, amazing, im in a lost for words and ive been playing for 6 years, and i just cant believe how amazing that was, Hell of a job Max, Hell of a job
Max, that was a great, great job you did...with the ending you put on "Maple Leaf Rag" being the exclamation point! Hope you can make it back over to Peoria in 2009 and beyond...looking forward to seeing you again!
This version is much more jazz than ragtime---but this guy is a really great player--and the piano sounds fantastic-i-really enjoyed this---thanks for posting it
It's an 1899 Steinway upright piano. It says so in the definition. Anyways, I always loved that song and the improvisations make it sound awesome! I wish I was as good as you =]
Nicely done Max. Really enjoyed your interpretation and rendition. And that's a good sounding piano ... you made it sing and put a smile on my face. :)
Thanks for the great rag, you did it more than justice ... take a bow.
Oh, and btw ... viewing your vid prompted me to signup. Think that deserves a curtain call.
Max did a superb job on the maple leaf rag! It gives the rag the jazz it so desperately needs! I think Max should be named the "Piano Man" in honor of Billy Joel.
question who restored the piano. IF it was you how much did it cost to have restored, i have a piano not sure of age but before 1960's. has a very nice sestern look to it.
I haven't the slightest clue who restored the piano, as it was owned by the Sound of One Hand recording studio in Ottawa, where I was recording a CD.. that was almost 2 years ago, now.
Max
(P.S. - thanks to everyone has commented on my video!)
great job! i liked the part at 2:22. i'm not positive, but i think you played the bass part on your right hand , and the treble on your left. whatever you did, it sounded good. joplin would've liked it.
What kind of editing do you mean? Video editing? Arranging the piece? The video editing was done by the talented studio technician at Sound of One Hand Records, and the arrangement is mine (the original tune is by Scott Joplin).
