I like both and own both the stihl and husky! I use the 290 farm boss for larger cuts and the husky smaller 240 for the smaller cuts.I know its a weird combo but I got them both brand new for under $1000.00.I use the boss and my wife and son use the 240. We love both saws! =) P.S. both saws have the "logger" chains on them Great vid.!=)
FYI You can run any 3/8 chain on the 290, not just the STIHL chains, although I think they are of good quality. At the moment I am running a Carlton chain on my 310..
dam dude mabe if you cleaned and maintained your stihl it would oil just fine and run good!, you lil garden boys dnt know shit bout what it takes to have a saw run for over ten years and still cut through huge Red oak's and maple trees like butter this is why i will always use stihl.
Oh and stihl makes their own chain which is made up of harder metal Husqvarna does not make their own chain they get their chains made by OREGON good but not better serious wood cutters that use Husqvarna sometimes use Stihl chain because it holds an edge longer. As for stihl being harder to find a dealer go to any ACE hardware.
@GarrettJDB Small world. Hey we should do a test run stihl vs. husky in big wood. Lol I work on my own stuff so finding a dealer isn’t a big deal . Oh & there both good saws did I just say that. lol
Okay first off the decompression valve is nonfactor on a saw this small I own the 290 and use a Husqvarna 257 with decompression valve and the Stihl 290 is still easier to pull over because the recoil pulley is bigger thus giving you more leverage Stihl also has more compression out of the box. And is cheaper I paid $359.95 2 years ago for ms 290 at that time 445 Rancher was over$400 so I got the stihl deal.lol as for the air injection I have never noticed a difference I cut around10Cord a year
I take your word for it Garrett. You seem to be the chain saw guru on here. Unfortunatly now that we have some snow,I won't be trying mine for awhile I think. Thanks for the help steering me in the right direction, and all the info on the saws !

Wow what a load of garbage. You know nothing about saws! Your lack of knowledge on saw is scary. Husky's 455 are box store garbage.

@edzgarage Keep the craftsman till she dies, then buy a Husqvarna.

Boy you stirred the pot... you said something was better than a Stihl. LoL
I think the Husq air injection is a great design, now if only they used automotive style filters.
Stihl makes a good saw, but for the $ I'd take a Husqvarna.
That is, if I wasn't an Echo fan =)

@oldchevy4x4 It funny but This Stihl is actually cheaper than the Husqvarna
