I haven't faced any glitches that are too serious...until I reached the Dwarven ruins with Onmund. He glitched out, and died somewhere in the building :I He was also my "pack brahmin" (Fallout!) so I screwed up BIG TIME.

OK so it DOES work! please vote this up as it IS the solution. Use "setstage mq202 160" while standing in front of his door after you talk to him. then, when it opens, type "setstage mq202 170" in the console command, and he will then start talking to you. simple as that.

for those who have had the problem of esbern not opening the door use "setstage MQ202 160" in the console

For those who cant get past the door in the ratway Use the "movetoqt mq202 1" command so that you get into the room. Hit him down some times and he may open the door so that you can talk to him. I got him to open it after beating him three times. and also if anyone wonders... He wont die by the beating. playing with quick saves/loads and wait(T key) and manage to escort him. But he's now completely silent. to get him to perform quest parts create and load auto saves. i hope this helps.

TCL and then just wait for the geezer to be ready to "speak", then it'll be the fastest dialoge in the game and your done. Worked for me.

the fix i did was i went into the console and typed in enableplayercontrols then i got up out of the chair and went and talked to esbern! :)

IDK about the books but when I go to to talk to him there is no audio and the subtitles disappear quickly. I think it was because I saw him earlier in the game but he just opened the shutter and closed it again.
