you need to try hyper barrack oxygen therapy it heals over 90% of patients with bells palsy it might take a while but it repairs somewhat of the nerve oxygen does give it a try and im sure you are on presnidone. good luck.
@99bleeder I have never heard of that therapy. Oxygen is beneficial for recovery for sure, but I wonder if there is a window of opportunity for it to help BP patients... I guess it doesn't hurt to try, if you are still seeking more recovery then your body could produce on it's own.
@FitGirl15 o it doesnt matter believe me 100% pure oxygen repairs cells and nerves i have witnessed on account it starts to reapir the nervous system pure oxygen but yes it is a process like anything else but HBOT works for a lot of things and everyone should really look into it we are oxygen based organisms without oxygen we would die so it makes sense the more oxygen we have in our bodies the less likely we are unhealthy and that includes nerves as well.
I had bell's palsy when I was 9 and my smile hasn't been the same since. I can't smile on the right side of my face, and if I try, I've been told it looks like I'm in pain (which I'm not). I have been holding the left side of my face (to prevent from moving) and trying to smile naturally (if only just slightly) for as long as I can hold it (per rep) for 30 minutes a day. I'll also try these! I'll let u know if it ends up working.
hello. i have facial palsey too. im going to start practicing these. I had 2 ops when i was younger to try to "fix it" as i've had it from birth but hopefully they'll work for me!
@anahata58 That is a potential theory. Cold air causes the body stress, and it is POSSIBLE that it caused your facial nerve slight trauma. Considering it lasted only a week, I'd say that is most likely the case!
My case was definitely NOT the cause of cold air!!!
This is actually bad advice I'm sorry, none of this will promote nerve regrowth. In fact doing exercises in the first six months can promote false muscle memory that remain once the palsy has been overcome. I know you mean well but follow specialists in this field advice. In my experience accupuncturists don't really understand this illness. Chinese people think it's caused by cold air....... Rather than an actual viral infection
all u need to do is constantly massage your face.. ive had serious bp twice.. and i still wake up every once in a while and it will feel like its trying to come back.. my mother used to massage my face for hours when i was a kid, now i do it myself and each time it goes away within a week or two with little assymetry.. massage massage massage...
@thinkingman07 Well, the neurologist suggested it because if I tried anything it would hurt so badly.I could barely eat & my recovery was kind of slow.I tried it out once,it didn't feel awesome at ALL,but just the one time really helped the healing process.Basically,I feel if I never got it that I wouldn't have healed so quickly. My BP lasted maybe 2 months or so,which is a blessing, but it was a painful 2 or 3 months physically & emotionally since I was in High School & you know how kids are.. :/
@BrilliantlyBecks I am glad you are better. Sadly the Neurologist was just guessing he did not know that it would work any better than a placebo. Acupuncture is far safer, even chiropractic adjustment could be helpful too. Nevertheless, it is important that you are better.
@thinkingman07 I would NEVER do Chiropractic adjustment, lol. The EST stimulated the muscles and nerves in my face, and it was easier for me to move them after the first session. They didn't know what caused it anyhow because I had numbness in my left arm as well and was extremely fatigued all the time. Idk, it is good that I'm better, but I think it helped. But no chiropractic stuff, ever. Ugh. I get shivers thinking about it. LOL.
@BrilliantlyBecks I appreciate your opinion, but I have to wonder about the logic of shuddering over spinal manipulation which was practiced by Hippocrates (and every culture around the world) but submitting to electric current passing through your temple triggering a seizure in the brain (which has a number of lasting side effects--including death). Either way, I am glad you are better, but if you ever relapse I hope do your research on ECT before submitting to it again.
@thinkingman07 OMG. No, that's not the electric shock I was talking about. Maybe I was mistaken. What they did was put little square pads on my cheekbone and one by my jaw and it sent out a minimal electric wave to loosen the muscles so I could move them. It basically worked the muscles, like constricted them and then released. It only lasted like 5 minutes or something.
@FitGirl15 Pahahaha! Okay, I scared myself. I knew something wasn't right when you were all "NO NO NO" about it. LOL!! I guess that's just what I called it when I had it done. >.> Okay, well I am sorry. Hahaha!

I am 27 I have had bells palsy for 6 years. I got when I was pregnant. My condition hasn't changed and i am getting worse. I did try medicine and nothing worked.
Accupuncture can reverse the effects of Bells Palsy. I got it 12 years ago when I was pregnant and my doctor told me it would clear up on it's own (Such a LIE!!!) I waited to long to get the accupuncture. The accupuncturist told me that if I had not waited so long (6 months after my baby was born) that he could have helped me. Too much time has elapsed causing permenant damage. After all this time I still have significant facial assemetry and facial swelling.
@MsKazemir I DISAGREE with your acupuncturist! Acupuncture DID NOT make my Bell's Palsy go away! TIME healed me... Some people are lucky with BP, and get well FAST with little treatment, others heal much more slowly... or only partially. This condition has no rhyme or reason... so I think it's BOGUS for doctors to tell us patients with the condition "I could have healed you if you had come seen me sooner!" Doctors are not magicians (or GODs)!
@FitGirl15 Did anyone ever tell you what caused it? Are you better now? Did you seek out any other therapy beside Acupuncture and standard medical care? I am curious because I am studying CN VII pathologies.
Do you take any medicine for this? This is my first week with BP. I really appreciate your help and video. I have no insurance of any kind and when I found out the care unit didn't really go into detail about BP. I am so upset but seeking more positive stuff on this. Thankyou so much I ck'd out at work and did some of the excercise. and help so much just that lil time. Thankyou so much June in juneau
@shopgirl99801 Many people are given a 7 day course of Prednisone and typically also another medicine that is an Anti-viral (I took Famcyclovir). Personally, I don't know how much taking these drugs helps one recover. I don't really think they helped me at all (the side effect were more obvious then the benefits!)
Do you have ANY movement regained in the BP side of your face? If not, please do not attempt the exercises... massage YES, but exercises NO!!!
Wow this is very helpful. Thanks alot. I just found out I had it 3 days ago. And I've been kind of worry. But I just gently massage around my face and try to move my mouth and blink a lot too.
Thanks for this video. I was wondering what was wrong with me and the moment I saw the way your face moved (and didn't) when you tried to smile I knew that I had the same thing. It feels so weird, like waiting for novocain to wear off. Mine just started today. Hope yours is getting better.
Do you remember the third exercise? I checked the subsequent video but it doesn't seem like they have it. If you still remember the third exercise, please make a video of it. Thanks.
I had this happen to me twice, once when I was 16 and then at 26. The second was 4 years ago, and I never fully returned to normal. I wish I would have had your positive attitude, I didn't want anyone to see me.
@FitGirl15 i had Bp few days ago and still have it. I forced my movment back causing head pains and jaw problems and i was even told to go for a mri scan.
i'm on my 4th day of stressing myself and can control my eyes. My mouth is my next issue. i can only lift 1-2cm. Btw u look proper cute :P
@FitGirl15 At what timewould you say to start excercises. I was diagnosed with bells palsy 5 days ago. I don't have as much swelling anymore. I started massaging on day 4 and the swelling went down.
@Smileyyy21 There is not TIME that is set for all sufferers. Massaging is great to do at anytime... tthe exercises (where you try to move the facial muscles without use of your hands) should not be attempted until there is a known functioning facial nerve! @Smileyyy21 Exercises (attempting to move your facial muscles UP or down and HOLDING a static contraction) will be IMPOSSIBLE to do without a connection to the nerve. My advice is to ONLY attempt facial exercises once significant movement has been regained to the face!

hey dear... i faced the same problem few years before... n i recovered quit well... n ill like to suggest u that heat the affected area with a hot water bag or something n then do these exercises .. ull see the effect of exercise doubling ... also i think u must be living in country with cold atmosphere... thats also 1 of the reason y recovery would take time... but u look cute... n MAY GOD heal u completly.. take care n keep smiling... reply if u can
@Elliex0xo YES, you might have slightly damaged the facial nerve! It does run the length of your neck, up beside your ear and then fans out over your face!
