@cubachang "Peter Gatien was the undisputed king of the 1980s New York City club scene." Someone didn't read the 'more info' tab. Either way, 80's 90's - I didn't start hitting the NYC clubs until around 1997/98.....Limelight, SF, Exit....all good times back then!
OMG, this is the movie that I've being waiting for years. Limelight was my house on friday nights...if you were looking for me I was on the dance floor @ Limelight. Those were the days of fun, music, fashion, the whole rave thing at that time. Limelight was the club to be I'm getting a group of friends to see this movie.
I would take five years off my life to go back for a month. Good times in the clubs no bullshit that goes on today everyone got along and got high together and had a good time we were a family. I miss those days :(
@KraZ - There was nothing better than LimeLight, NASA and Storm Rave in the early 90s in NYC. The promoters were trying to start something here that others have already done in Europe. For me, partying begins on Wednesday with Disco 2000, follow by Future Shock on Fridays and whatever in between. 4 days of partying in a row was the norm. Unfortunately, US politics always gets in the way of a good thing. These were some of the best days of my life. You want to experience it, go elsewhere.
I went when this place first opened up, it was hot until those freaky club idiot kids took over what a bunch of morons, they where so un-cool it wasn't funny just a bunch of loud mouth trying to seek attention.
@TheNYCutube I wish I could say you weren't an idiot. BK is pretty much hipsters, gentrification gone bad, college kids and strollers and about 60-70% or more of which are not "Old NY".
How many times have owners in this city made a theme that involves France. Its going to be London if anything . The problem with the city recently is that so many underage suburban girls who suddenly think there the shit for getting into overrated clubs because of a rescission. Or maybe its the fact that 1oak hired bartenders who act like there from Cancun. While in BK Southpaw,Music Hall and other small unknown lounges still seem to not have changed.
@TheNYCutube I wrote Paris "or ELSE WHERE." Meaning just not Paris.
And it's not about wannabe themes. It's about a vibe, a feeling, true soul.
Like I wrote before.. it will never be the same. I'm now 42 and I was about 16 when I went to my first underground basement party. After that, It was clubs like The Milky Way, Save The Robots, The Saint, The Tunnel, etc & all of the clubs locations, Manhattan, NYC. Dude, the club kids killed the night life. As for BK's night life.. I'll give you that.
I was there through it all. It was an amazing time. I remember hearing my first techno song played there before anyone even knew what it was. Keoki on Wednesday nights! Craziest times ever! It was a brief moment in the history of time that I was glad I had the opportunity to see first hand. That was of course, if you could get past Kenny at the door! LOL!!
@ceos you can't compare this to party monster, that was a film based on james st james' book, it was from his point of view and in true james st james style it was told in a very eccentric way where the truth was fabricated for entertainment purposes bla bla bla this is a documentary about peter gatien so it won't focus on michael and the death of angel. btw i know its your oppinion but mine is that party moster and the shockumentary are fabulous x
I wish wish wish wish wish I had of been living in NYC during this amazing era...of course chances are I would more than likely be dead by now..but still, it would have been amazing..NYC in the 70s/80s what other place would you want to be? NO WHERE.. I am fascinated w/ NYC and the nightlife of NYC in the 70s/80s..(Kirk..Montreal, Canada).
@rhymeandreasoning I'm only 22 but I'm also fascinated with it. I love to learn as much as I can about it all. I love NYC, but I would have loved it even more to have been around during the awesomeness of the 70s/80s/ early 90s, cause it seems like thats when all the fun was happening. Sucks to be my age in this decade, I can't find any good clubs and places to go to.

This is great! I worked at Limelight in the early 90s. We always thought they should make a movie about the place.
