  • I have a 1981 and 1982 park album that they produced. Here's the cast listed for the IHAS cast:

Blue: Ed Evins, Jenny Roberts, Dianna Goodson, Chris Peterson, Connie Hauman, Louis Sacco, Brad Reynolds, John Clonts, Ron Bonner, Paul Cira, Kathleen Brant, Cathy Lord, Kevin McMahon, Dixie Spence, Lynn Monty, Lori Schwartz, John Kelley.

If it was the Purple cast, it would have been a mix of the Red and Blue cast members, as well as those from other shows that wanted to do IHAS.

  • I have a 1981 and 1982 park album that they produced. Here's the cast listed for the IHAS cast:

Red:Patrick Finch, Heath Scupine, David Haskler, Beth Myatt, Jim Youngblood, Cindi Hamilton, Robert Byrd, Barry Stephens, Greta Rolfe, Brian call, Carol Sheehan, Pam Andrews, Jeff Payne, Judith Walton, Joey Ellis, and Jerry Dixon.

  • Blancohuebner, there is someone I would like to introduce you to. You both have the same habit of giving an opinion no one asked for or cares to hear. His name is Julian and I am sure you both would enjoy each other's witty repartee (right Julian?).

  • I hear america vomiting listening to this.

  • KraftChris - BLESS YOU!!!!! I can't tell you the virtual flood of memories your videos have brought back to me. Your videos are two years before my time at Opryland, but they still got me all farklempt...hehehe. I was In Sing, Tennessee in '83, and IHAS the first half of '84, and Sing, Tennessee the 2nd half. Every time I think of that park of memories being demolished it really hurts my heart. Maybe the talk about bringing it back will come true one day. Let's hope!

  • What great memories. I was in Gal in 1978 and IHAS blue in 1981. Perry Stephens was a good friend of mine. We both came from Samford. What a great guy, bless his soul.

  • What great memories! I was in "Gal" that year. I was in IHAS the year before(1980) in the American Music Theatre and again the year after (1982) in the Roy Acuff. Has anyone kept in touch with Greta Rolfe? Sadly, Perry Stephens is no longer with us. What a great guy. Too many of us have been taken too soon.

  • I loved seeing this - AGAIN! I was in Gal this year - many of my friends were in this cast so we'd always go watch each other's shows. Other names: Heather Scupine, Karla Vinson, Carol Sheehan (Rainbow), Jerry Dixon, and Judith and Brian (sang the Blues medley)-Brian, a very talented guy, also did Mickey Gilley, as well as Frank Sinatra. That's all I remember.

The next year I ended up as swing for Gal and IHAS when they all moved theaters. What a wonderful time - I want to go back!

  • I just watched all six parts and it brought back GREAT memories.. except for Part 6. I remember the show from 1974-76 during the Classic era. This was the best place in Opryland to escape the sweltering heat, the American Music Theatre was air-conditioned with comfy padded seats and no armrests. You could scoot over amd make out with your girlfriend if you got a nice seat in the back. Gawd, what memories! I would give anything to find that original soundtrack recording on vinyl or CD.

  • I have seen the original vinyl recording on ebay not too long ago. It pops up on there quite often.

  • I'm not one hundred percent sure my memory is correct, but I believe this is the 1981 "Purple" cast. The cast comprised of a mix of members from Blue and Red. The lead male dancer (with Beth "Tiggy" Myatt) is the beloved, late Jim Rixie. The male who sings "How much do I love you" is Jim Gosling. I believe the baritone is Jeff Gwaltney.

  • I'm mistaken. That's not Jim. Jim Rixie was in the purple cast of "For Me and My Gal" that year.

  • You remembered Beth's nickname! Wow, I have not heard "Tiggy" in decades. The lead dance was David Askler, you might be right though about it being the Purple cast, I cannot remember who stayed and who left. Watching David and Beth dance just reminds me how talented they were. Remember the TV special Opryland Future Stars? Beth was one of the "stars". I had such a crush on her (even though I turned out to be gay...lol).

  • Tiggy was an amazing woman. I was a groupie the summer of 1981 and she ended up going to high school with me for a couple of weeks that fall before giving it up and getting her GED. Was so pleased she went on to do what she loved. Last I heard she was married with children and living in Hawaii, but that was rumor a long time ago.

  • Awesome video, I have also sent you an email.. Thank you!

  • This was the last year I Hear America Singing was performed in that theater and went on to be produced in the Roy Acuff theater for awhile and then was dropped altogether from the lineup of shows at Opryland until it reappeared many years later as I Hear America Singing its Song.

  • The man that recites the "marriage is an istitution for the blind" joke is Jimmy Youngblood. The woman as Shirley Temple is Heather. Perry Stephens is the tall performer who sang the duet in the West Side Story part. Perry went on to star in the ABC soap Loving. The black woman with the very short 'fro is named Greta. Joey Ellis was one of the Beatles. Beth Myatt went on to play one of the mermaids on The Love Boat for a year. David Askler was in the movie A Chorus Line.

  • @KraftChris
