  • a real legend

  • shiverssss down my spine !!

  • im learning this song on piano

  • I love this song so much

  • Check out our cover! :)

  • R.I.P To my 15 year old friend conor hogan who sadly passed away in the Summer. You were one of my best friends! you taught me real music!

  • funny, i didnt know that the re did this song later on, i knew he played it early in his career, i liked his earlier one more for some reason although towards the end, his voice projected such meaning and heart

  • i can play this on violin

  • @lovenacro12 I actually really wanna hear that, sounds very touching

  • @potsdamlacrosse315

yeah my music teacher put it together for my orchestra to play in a school concert i like it!!!!!!!!!!

  • heres my money mister. kthnxbai

  • This song is so sad, yet its so damn good.

  • this song literally made me cry when i was in college.

  • Other families sing Ozzy Ozborne songs on their family road trips. We sing to Johnny Cash...mainly his saddest songs. XD

  • I believe that it was Rose who didn't like this song, because she didn't get any money...

  • Who the hell didn' t like this song? It's his business, but to me it seems pretty impossible..

  • musicianforjesus: I never knew he had ill health in 1958???? Any info???

  • TheJessegangsta: I just played the song for my son - he loves Johnny Cash lyrics. He asked me how old it is. I told him I first heard it in 1960 but, I made a guess for him about when it was recorded: 1958. Quite a coincidence if you are correct (and I believe you are.) I told him that it must have been lost in the mists of time because I never ever heard it on any oldies stations. Back then they played John's songs along with all other rock 'n roll songs. Yes, I am that old.

  • Aww so sad but great song

  • Does make you sigh.

  • I only wish he could sing. Good song, but he sounds like her has a gallon of water in hsi throat and he's being strangled

  • @stevejobsfan you don't get it do you? can you write a song? sing one? be a star? if not...shut the fuck up!

  • @stevejobsfan He's a really good singer, and he was partly famous because of that somber tone he uses

  • @stevejobsfan

    It's called a tone :p

  • @stevejobsfan Well you have to remember by this time in his life he was suffering with severe health problems.

  • .One of my favourite Cash songs. The man was a great songwriter and I've been a

fan since his Sun recording days...moved to upload my own tribute: Daddy Knew Johnny Cash.MOV - in admiration of his huge talent. He was to country music

what Sinatra was to popular music.

  • Such a sad song and Johnny is a genius for the stories he tells. And personally I love these ballad songs. That guy who disliked this song I don't resent, but I would love to know for what reasons he/she dislikes it, just interest as I didn't think this was dislikeable.

  • Johny Cash owes the city of San Francisco well over 25 dollars for the utterance of "Frisco". Emperor Norton's law and none shall be able to appose it.

  • @MrTimhero lol

  • I wrote here that I'll write novel based on this song. And I almost did. Hope it will be ready till the end of next week. If somebody has interest about this novel I'll send it to her/him. Want to know if you will like it...It is not sad strory

  • @nickpaulie just thought of doing that myself, would love to read that.

  • @terryb1260 that also means they were never locked up in the pen together as well,

  • @terryb1260 Your story is essentially impossible. Cash, despite the legendary rebel image was arrested 7 times each for misdeamnors, meaning he only spent one night in jail each time. In other words, he would have had to stole the song in one night. And why would a man who wrote over 1000 songs ever need to steal someone elses when he could just write one ten times better anyways. Go hate somewhere else...

  • @terryb1260 no one gives a damn about you, your show, or your uncle done!

  • @terryb1260 no one gives a fuck u hommo

  • @terryb1260 Sure fella...all our uncles wrote a Johnny Cash song. In fact my uncle Ray wrote Walk The Line ten years after it was released. Genius my uncle Ray.

  • @terryb1260 Yeah lad, and I wrote Stairway to Heaven.

  • What a beautiful loving song.

  • one person will rot in hell.... jussayin

  • @idkbassman They probably disliked it because they bawled their eyes out just listening to it.

  • My second favorite Cash song next to 'Would you Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone).' Luv the sentiment contained within the lyrics. Luv the message about life and what's truly important. And it ain't all the stuff we collect or the money in our pockets. Johnny knew how to get social messages across without being obvious, which is one of the reasons he was so damn good !

  • I remember first hearing this in a HMV. I head this song, stop and listened and cried. It was beautiful song and the first song I ever heard that made me cry.

  • The opening guitar rip gives me goosebumps..

im 20 and grew up listen to him tell some of the greatest stories

i dont know why but his last album was so powerful and spiritual it might be my favorite

there will never be another Man in Black

    RIP

  • i listen to this song and think i should make more of my life, its the only one you will have.

  • Sad yet beautiful. Cash was a master of storytelling.

  • I stand corrected....and that is why I asked it in a question form....thank you.

  • When was this recorded? He sounds kinda old...

  • @homegrowntomatoe90 November 15, 1958

  • one person has bad taste in music

  • so sad and beautiful.

  • I believe David Allan Coe wrote this song...didn't he ?

  • @MarkEaster sorry to be rude but you are incorrect this is one of johnny cash's original recordings right after he recorded folsom prison blues

  • @MarkEaster

    no he didn't.

  • I believe David Allan Coe wrote this song...didn't he ?

  • He can never be replaced. His songs will live forever, and he shall as well.

  • one my favs

  • Can Someone tell me if I play this right in my video??

  • My favorite song when I was little girl. I think I liked the heartbreak of it all. I was such a morbid little thing.

    R.I.P. JC

  • he had such an awsome voice

  • fanstastisk song.tak Johnny.

  • I sang this song once, and got a standing ovation. What a cool song it is. RIP John, and thanks for the great songs you did.

  • I would have given his love to rose, I wounder what inspired Johnny Cash for this.

  • grazie johnny...grazie

  • The man will be remembered forever. His music will echo across the centuries. Strangers will hear his name long after he's gone. Rest in peace Johnny Cash.

  • Give My Love To Rose great song thanks

  • brilliant - Johnny Cash at his very best!

  • It comes from Hank Williams : Wedding Bells are ringing. The music is absolutely the same. Williams sang 'Blue eyes crying in the rain' when Willie Nelson was in primary school. If Williams should have lived 20 years longer?

  • I don't know what it is about Cash, but he makes me like the feeling of sadness and despair... Weird shit

  • Haven't heard this for years, but still as sad as ever. One of Johnny Cash's best songs.

  • when i listen to some of johhny cashes song it just makes me cry...happy or sad

  • wow this song is truly moving.

  • You're welcome. :)

  • @geniusbruno good man

  • @geniusbruno heh ass

  • @9366h hehe

  • @Heowa it is a beautiful song

  • @Heowa yes it is sad...usually this is when i would say something wise..but theres not much else to say except this album is amazingly sad. But you must also understand that the album this is in was Johnny Cash's last album made, so in a way you kinda gotta figure he knew he was dyin, so why not tell everyone in the best way he knew how, ya know?

  • @9366h True...and I'm not saying I dislike it because it's sad, not at all! I absolutely love it, and I think it somehow has to be this way with sad songs...you know, if something is able to touch you in a way that it can even make you cry, it has to be well done. If one says a song is sad, this song must have given them the chance to feel what's being delivered in the first place. And what else is there to a good song?

  • he sang it wen he was younger...xx

  • wow I listined to this and like read the lyrics this is such a sad song :( but its really good :))

  • I already love this song, but it's just a little perk that this is nick jonas's favorite song!

  • hashahahaha!! thats exactly !

  • That's exactly what?

  • why i like the song. but its still good

  • yea i know.

    :)

i like all of the jonas's favorite songs.

    :)

  • sure ya do

  • what?

    i do.

    :)

  • Great track! I love the chorus!

  • His voice is already legend.
