  • Great channel Mark!! Let me know when you get to the US...

    Nina

  • The Camera you are using is one of my fav's ...Canon XF100 , ND filters, Night Vision, +33 Gain (not that you need it) . Best of luck with you new tv show idea!

  • Definitely like your concept. Keep at it. We're doing something similar here with TheSailingChannel. No gatekeepers, just us and our global audience. Please let us know any time one fo your episodes takes you on a sailboat. We'll add that episode to our channel.

  • Love your work Overlander! Best of luck.

  • I look forward to it!

  • Great footage of that river from the canoe. I hope you get your TV show up.

  • .. yes I think you're on the right track Mark - great to see stuff that will never be seen anywhere else - makes for an interesting viewing session for us - the info travel stuff of network TV has become a bore ..

  • hey,..great works ..all things are possible ..even a LIVE feed...once connected t TV stations u can get the right LIVE equipments , cameras and showtime with MARK on the ROAD...hope all yr desires will be fullfilled by HIM.....

  • Great idea Mark! I presume you have years of editable material at this point...so hopefully you can do both online and broadcast. And I totally agree... making friends on the road can lead to opportunities and adventures never imagined when you purchased your tickets. Best regards! Bob

  • I think you've got the right idea. Maybe an Aussie or NZ network will buy it. I got all the way to meetings with the CEO of one of the largest, most popular channels in the U.S. and he said he wanted nothing to do with "backpacker" tourism. But you're right - one guy with light weight gear, venturing out into the bush can show people things a television crew could never bring them. There's an intimacy there that's missing from documentary TV shows.

  • @antonseim Yeah I suppose in the end it's all about selling stuff. But I think stations like the travel channel have really lost direction. What is it now, a channel about food....or travel? The western obsession with food porn is a passing phase. It has run it's course, like renovation programs, time for real travel programs, where viewers learn about cultures different from their own.

  • @overlander The channel in question, the biggest "travel" channel in the U.S. wanted to turn my show idea into a competition show. Have you ever seen my pitch? It's on my Vimeo channel (same as my YouTube name). I think the future is in web-distribution on your own terms. I'm not sure if you're familiar with what the comedian Louis C.K. just did. I'd love to meet up on the road and share viewership at some point.

  • For anyone like me, too old or infirm to travel any more, this would be a Godsend. Just go for it, You may not make much money at it, but you'll be rich in so many other ways.

  • @Bobcatonline Thanks Bob, Just tell me what you want to see. Of course I may not listen, but I will at least try ;)

  • @overlander Just out of pure interest, I'd like to see the inside of my bank manager's wallet - but, other than that just go where your heart tells you!

  • Yeah sweet as O lander. I travelled in that mode in 2000. Allot of nooks and crannies in the world off the Yellow brick road.. Keep your eye's n ears open because 6 degrees of separation occurs heaps.

  • you need to have celebrities going into jungle for TV program.

  • Good luck, we need to take more control of what a traveler should see and experience.
