@NightmareRoute your an idiot... the whole point of singing is to sing in key. plenty of GREAT artist that convey great emotion without singing like they got punched in the throat. I guess im just not "deep" enough to like it when a musician plays like their on 15 different depressants at once. my irony beard hasnt grown in and my shoes just arent quite mocassins yet. my fault for having a thought. i thought you indie fucks were all for "free thought"
@laynestaley1990 I can't be bothered arguing, but you should drop the 'indie' thing. Well I'm not an idiot like that anyway. Singing in key is important, but I'm not sure I agree it's the ONLY way. Singers that don't have natural singing voices might sound off but.... when you can hear them pouring their soul into it.... I mean, I dont think Robert Smith has a great voice, or Jake Bannon from Converge (ha) - but that's part of why I enjoy these singers, cos their voices carry so much emotion
pretentious is assuming your audience already knows what you're talking about... and it's pretty obvious that discrediting older video technology because of the current standard is ignoring the context of the music and desired aesthetic/level of imperfection (i think it's beautiful) - go watch a CG battle from Episode 1 douche
Haha yeah white noise ooh thats creative! I just don't understand how this is outside of the box. Its a simple acoustic song. What is the "genius" of this music?
no one called this genius. but it could well be. 'and nico' is a simple album, or better yet a genius album. there's no rule that a simple album can't be genius. plus this video, is down right nostalgic and amazing. once again, simple footage in the countryside - turned surreal.
I just can't stop having this song in my head.. i knew it from a live version though, much longer and quite less melodic.. that's the only stuff i've been able to download from soulseek
You can get it at your local record store...Or, you can try to buy it off the K website. This song was on their last album "Mount Eerie", you gotta pick up "The Glow Part II" and "It Was Hot, So We Stayed in The Water" while you're at it.
and to spooned, calling this boring, it seems you have silverspun pickups as one of your favorite videos; sorry we can't listen to such interesting music that is as intricate and and has the same incredible substance that pop rock does.
My friends and I instantly knew what this album represented.
I brought one of my friends over who doesn't listen to much music at all, and he just laughed at the start of the song and said "I love the cosmic background noise"

@laynestaley1990 you're so right. I hate hearing people sound so vulnerable and human and beautiful, get some auto tune on that shit in fact.

Phil is more than a music artist.

only Phil Elverum would change his band name at the height of his success. God bless the man for making today's music suck considerably less

why don't you cover your ears and smoke crack then maybe you'll get some stimulation and also die so that you won't ever comment on a video again

is this indie music? is this what indie sounds like?
chucktomms 3 years ago
isn't this Indie folk or Folk revival?
Haavardvorsen 3 years ago
Indie isn't really a genre, its more just "independent" people writing songs.
passenger3 3 years ago
this is actually classified as "fuzz-folk", the convergence of the lo-fi drums and guitars or what have you, with the folk roots.
