  • very venomous!!! very awesome!!!!!!!

  • IT's so BEAUTIFUL!! (and cute♥) lolz hehehe and thats coming from a girl who loves horses and dogs, i have a video of me and a garter snake i caught :D i called it Sephiroth, but i had to put it back :P :P T.T he was so cute, and that was when i started loving snakes♥ my fave is DEFINATLY the gaboon viper♥ Snakes are soo cute...beautiful...:D

  • Indeed, distance is required to admire this beautiful creature!

What irritates me is shit like Snakes On A Plane, which makes people think that snakes will kill you on sight.....they will not but don't go right up to them.

  • i was there and i saw it too what a coincidence

  • the best snake!!!

  • Cryptozoology novel see video book trailer

  • This snake is over powered.

  • i be running so fast when i see this snake in the open that Usian Bolt can't catch me

  • I usually dont say this but nice snake!!! Its very interesting to look at. i never heard of them till some show in animal plant. But its really a koo snake

  • gaboon vipers are so cute! :)

  • whats the backgroundmusic called/

  • they just found one of these in Maine where I live! It was a five foot long gaboon viper found dead on a trail out behind a movie theater in Saco Me . It did not have a chance in hell in maine in march on a 55 degree day! And I hope they catch the bastard who let it go such a beautiful snake! and such a lousy owner!

  • Very nice indeed

  • If you wanna see some EXCELLENT Gabby footage, and just how FAST they can be, check out ViperKeeper channel. Enjoy...

  • Haha thanks! I've been a subscriber for a year or three now. :-P

  • they have the largest fangs of all vipers, but are kinda slow and not known to be very aggressive. What beauty though, love the colours as well.

  • Their strike isn't slow. They're normal movement may be slow, but when they strike, they can reach maximum strike range in .50 seconds.

  • You are indeed right, I am quit knew to studying these lovely creatures and am eager to learn more. They do strike very fast and they get huge when they are angry. One sad thing I disvovered recently is that there are only like 500 left in SA:(

  • ever seen these in person? these are particularly fat, short tailed vipers. very slow moving and ALL talk.

they hiss at EVERYTHING. not to say they couldn't drop you in about 3 hours, but still. the ration of strike to hiss is like 1 to every 10.

i met a dude who worked at a reptile museum by me who got tagged by a gabb at one point, he now has a gnarly scar/sink hole down his lower arm.

    hemotoxin is a bitch

  • Im fairly confident in reading about Gaboon Vipers that they are the only snake species in the world to have all 3 types of venom. Hemotoxin Nuerotoxin and Cytotoxin. They also Inject more venom than any other venomous snake in the world due to there Huge fangs which are the biggest in the world. they also weight a fantastically huge amount for a viper. Truly amazing creature. I believe some experts think this snake may have the most painful bites out of almost any in the world.

  • These are beautifull snakes, They also take more lives than any other animal in west africa. I lived in sierra leone when i was young, and these were to definatly be feared. They hold their ground, and dont shy away from anything

  • This one is quickly becoming my new favorite viper. The North Americans are still some of my favorites, Diamond Back and the Copperhead too.

  • What a gorgeous animal. These are definitely my favorite species of snake.

They have the longest fangs of any snake. About 2 inches. It's quite impressive.

  • "Gaboon" being the Kenyan word for "Big Ass Honkin' Snake!". I've heard how the bite of the Gaboon Viper can be especially painful, so I have no doubt it can deliver quite a lesson on Respect.

  • I have kept loads of snakes over the years, and every bite ive sustained was when I got complacent and careless. The problem is, over time, most people lose their respect for these snakes...and thats when you get bitten. Ive wanted a gaboon for years and will do so in the future, but only now that Ive garnered the respect and knowledge to do so. It often takes a venomous bite to make you realise the level of respect needed to keep them. Deffo not for the novice :) Stunning Snake, just stunning.

  • The best way not to get bitten is never get one.

  • Cute!

  • nice video, whats the song callled??

  • he made it

  • k, thanks

  • i was there

  • I wish you could own venomous snakes in california. and what states can you have venomous snakes in without a permit?

  • Snake laws are there for a reason.

  • Truth they are there for a reason. However, i think with a proper permit you should be able to own them.

  • It takes a pretty long time to attain most permits, it's not something you can just go pick up either.

  • I agree venemous snakes are to be admired from a distance. If you own a venemous snake you will eventually get bitten. I am a herpetologist and i have been bitten by a Gaboon Viper at a reptile center and it is not fun. No matter how carefull or smart you are it dosent matter.

  • @Tooswift001 Excellent post: Very wise.

  • favorite snake (as my name tells :P)

  • Cool ass snake. Horrible music. Should be Slayer something more fitting.

  • Love the music and the Gaboon :)

  • yeah 2" fangs would deffinatly leave a mark. Beautiful snake though.

  • Cool music for a cool snake.

  • beautiful snake. has the largest fangs and the highest venom yeild. The venom is nowhere near as deadly as a Cobras or a Taipans, but it injects enough to kill a man. Its a very docile snake and can actually be handled without it biting. I would not want to take a hit from those fangs though

  • Handled?? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK DAT!!!!! LOL

  • Any why is this cool? I am at home and only about 6 yards (at max) away from 3 of them... Two East African gaboons and one W. African... Nice vid, but not really worth posting??

  • very nice snake! I'd love to catch a snake for food but this snake is beutifull! i'd leave it alone besides that its deadly! if u like snakes check out LIFE IN COLD BLOOD im pretty sure its on VEOH just now, the series covers most reptiles and theres a special episode about snakes! check it out! thanks for posting this video mate :)

  • i heard that thes thinks can pump you with pints of vemom per bite big deadly snake il stick to my boas lol

  • lol i love vipers!!! their sweet lookin!!

  • im pondering to buy one myself vipers are the smartest snakes in the world, their intelect cannot be matched

  • My absolute favorite viper!! Very beautiful patterns..second only to the Rhino Viper in my book.

  • in the united states only thirteen people have been bit. And the 13th was the only survivor.

  • It is a natural born beauty.

but deathly poisonous, its venom liquidises living tissue, and with its 5 centimetre fangs, it shouldnt have any trouble penetrating your muscle.

  • i trust, chocmonk, that a true herpetologist would be able to correctly spell his profession.

  • Thats a beautiful creature, such a tactile pattern makes you want to stroke it. Although of course that may be a rather bad idea it is one of the things that compel me to this snake.

  • ur all such idiots the puff adder has the fastest strike trust me im a herptoligoist

  • your a herpetologist?

you should really get that checked out man...herpes ruins lives and spreads like wildfires...

you should get ur herpes tologized yourself rather than doin it to other people

  • ive got tonnes of venomous snakes and the gaboon viper is the 2nd fastest striker if u get bitten by 1 ur as good as dead i got bitten and the fang only scrated me and it was soooooooooo fucking painful

  • sure kid..talk more shit..death adder is the fastest striker in the world

  • 2Brickz - can you cite for me a scientific book, article, or paper which states that the death adder has the "fastest strike"? Or is your statement merely your opinion?

  • chocmonk95 - can you cite me the scientific book, article, or paper, which actually did a controlled study on which snake(s) has the "fastest strike" - doesn't sound like a topic that a hepretologist would be likely to study, since there are probably many species which have very similar strike speeds - kind of like debating about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I would think it would be one of the smaller vipers.

  • my albino snouted cobra has torn my skin with a fang, he was only 4 months old but it was the most pain i had ever been in, my arm swole up to about 5 times its normal size

  • awesome snake

  • that snake is NOT fat, they are VERY stout snakes....and you need a huge head to house the largest fangs on any snake.1.5 inches.or more

    amazing snakes

  • always thought the fer de lance had biggest :/

  • Yes people in the US just have to have them for pets...why. Then when they get tired of having them they release them in the wildso your kids can play with them

  • love the snake, hate the bite

  • yea indeed it is, i own a breeding pair and they are BEAUTIFUL

  • He s so fat he cant hardly move ha,ha

  • yeaa he's actually fat mainly due to their camouflage and how often they eat lol

  • Dandruff you IDIOT WHY DONT YOU LET THAT SNAKE BITE YOUR WORTHLESS _SS FOOL? HA

  • i wanna see this snake bite something big, like a fuckin cat!

somebody put THAT shit on youtube

    and i LOVE the muzic

  • 2-3 inches dumbass. Learn your facts.

  • 1-2 inches, the longest gaboon fang on record was 2.1 inches, so dont call him a dumbass wen u r the one who needs to learn your facts

he probably knows more then u about snakes

  • That is such an awesome snake, but I wouldn't risk keeping it as a pet. Somehow I don't feel like having an amputation when it has a bad day.

  • That snake is so cute when it looks at the camera. I mean, I just wanna run up to it and hug it!

  • hahah aww

  • I agree. I would if not for the bite. xD

  • It's just a little something I threw together years ago.

  • This is one NASTY snake in terms of what its venom can do to you...both nerotoxins and hemotoxins.....OUCH...

  • gaboon vipers have of the fastest strikes ive ever seen, its not uncommon for them to even kill a mongoose

  • this snake is sweet longest fangs 2 inches

  • The Gaboon Viper has the longest fangs of any snake in the world! The can grow up to 2 inches

  • beautiful snake but theres something about its head that makes me nervous....maybe its the huge fangs! hahaha

  • i wish i had a snake like this

  • it can have 1 and a half in fangs and it would kill you if it bit yuo but yea there the nicest sankes a gaboon and i like the rhino viepr there the same just blue and reds

  • i love yhe kind of snakes they remaind me of doge vipers i wish i had a snake like that that would be so awsome

  • My favorite snake

  • I think the baboon viper has one of the most beautiful and most effective color patterns when it comes to blending in.

  • The most pressing concern is the amount of venom that they typically inject. Even with quick medical attention, the risk of death, internal system failure/s (kidneys esp) and massive tissue destruction are concerns.

  • To give you an idea of how poisonous this snake is...Austin Stephens onnce told a story on the Nation Geographic channel of how he was scratched (not even BITTEN) on the finger once by a Gaboon Viper's fang...and his hand burned for four days.

  • That's one extremely poisonous snake! Marlin Perkins of "Wild Kingdom" is the only man to ever survive the bite of a Gaboon Viper!

  • snakes arent poisonous, they are venomous,

and gaboons arent that venomous to kill in every strike.

  • well, poisonous and venomous are actually the same thing and what u said that gaboons arent venomous, trust me u have no idea how venomous they are, their venom is used in two methods, one is to destroy both nerve and the circulation and 2, its also used to dissolve tissue, its so dangerous that even if u survive, if u were bitten on one of ur limb, its at least 75% that u will risk having that limb amputated!!

  • i meant arent that venomous,

  • isnt the same thing,

i misxplained my second statement, they are venomous, possessing highly toxic venom (viperid venom destroys and dissolves). But i doubt that there has been only 1 survivor as someone said

  • the head looks like a dead leaf youll never notice once merge to a dead leaf piling up under very decieving very dangerous snake

  • Awesomeness. I love gaboons!

  • Great shots. The gaboon viper is one impressive snake...you know the adult Gaboon viper can have 2inch fangs lol

  • lmfao

  • 2.5 inch

  • It's not the size of the fang. It's the motion of the ocean.

  • Do Vipers have rattles at the end of their tails?

  • not all of them just the rattlesnakes.

  • so basically, they're two seperate species? Sorry, Im not a snake expert...and in a brawl..which snake would win?

  • yeah but they are both members of the same family. The rattlesnake would end up with a loss because of the gaboon vipers perfect camo.

  • no, not all vipers do the only vipers that rattles on their tails is the Rattlesnake which can be found in North America!
