  • oh, my strings almost NEVER break. & because of a mod i did to mine (2200-studmount), it COMPLETELY trashes the floyd in volume & sustain; ain't even close...

  • @badmuddy What was the mod?

  • @darthinfurnus big bends' string sleeves, cut in half, pushed all the way to the ball ends so that the ss's go over the cam's curve. other than that, a hair of their nutsauce, right where the sleeves curve over the cam. it REALLY works like GANGBUSTERS, too! i hace ZERO probs switching between diving & finger-bending...

  • @badmuddy SHITE! that is i HAVE zero probs...

  • @badmuddy oh, you meant my sustain mod. DOH! THAT mod is something i hope to produce & market at some point in the future (like when i can get the money & machining help...

  • can u flutter on a Khaler?

  • @Ibik yes...

  • MAN DO YOU NEED TO CUT A PART OF OF YOUR GUITAR TO INSTALLTHE TREMOLO????? i got the same guitar and i love what you do with the pickguard so i do the same now i wanna put the tremolo but the tremolo goes up and down or not??? ok so please please answer me

  • @kevin255679 : yes, sure. Wouldn't make sense without it.

  • can you install this on an epiphone sg g400?

  • @metallisabbath : of course, same as with this guitar

  • @xxxyyyxxxyyyxxx ok awsome looking for some trem action on my epi.........i would assume its not too difficult to instasll yourself. did you take it into a shop?

  • @metallisabbath : see first line of text directly under the vid :) Noone reads the vid description...

I have some experince and it was a good fit, but it can be complicated on some guitars. If you're not a hobby luthier, do the shop thingy.

  • @xxxyyyxxxyyyxxx okiie dokie

  • did you need to get it redrilled or did it fit right in

  • @someone0209 : routing is required, read older posts here, all explained a few times already

  • I'm Thinking About Getting One For My Flying V!!! How Good Does It Stay In Tune After Alot Of Tremelo Abuse And High Bends???

  • @DylanBStringer91 nowhere near being as good as a floyd, but it does a decent job when compared to a vintage trem. It eats strings for breakfast though.

  • Yngvye!

  • was that solo you started at 1:00 improvised, or is it from a song?

  • @OMMIAMSalvation : the beginning is a Yngwie lick, then improvised.

  • did you have to drill any holes in your sg to install the kahler or does it install on the bridge roughtings?

  • And does that detune often. if not do you have a super locking nut?

  • Question: What amp are you using?

  • Comment removed

  • @JYZProductions : never detuned, no idea. It can't replace it without routing, see prior messages

  • the stetsbar isn't full range; can't do spaghetti. a kahler can. & i don't have a nut-lock on my lp/sg, either. i haven't needed 1 since i began using Big Bends String Sleeves (cut in half) so that THEY ride the cam, & NOT the strings. i no longer have ANY probs switching between bending & diving. as an added precaution, i occasionally use their nut sauce where the string sleeves curve around the cam. i've had NO probs since doing this, & i can bend & dive ALL DAY LONG & stay in tune!

  • I have been thinking of getting a kahler, I am wanting to make a "super grunge guitar" as my friend called it haha I am getting a mahogany Jagstang body and I wanted to use a Kahler 4300 (like Jerry Cantrell) and use Lace Sensor Blue for the neck and a Silver/Red humbucker bridge pick (similar to Billy Corgan) Then I am undecided on the neck, maybe I can pick up a Billy Corgan Sig neck idk. Alright after all that haha how much did you have to cut in to the body to make it work? Kick ass playing!

  • i wish my neck pick up sounded like that:/ i have a PRS and its too muddy

  • @brianwurst1234 : maybe it's your rig/settings and not the guitar?

  • @brianwurst1234 : oh and also Gibson pickups rock, of course :)

  • you dont dive bomb like a normal person should hahaha

  • @oxanon237425 : "should"? Who defines that? ;)

  • you use the trem really wierd. u dont dive bomb like a normal person.

  • how much does routing cost

  • @stbreal : dunno, did it myself. Regular price I'd guess about $150-200 with setup and all.

  • I was wondering, how much did you pay for that kahler 7200? Im debating whether I should get the stetsbar, but its $269 for the one I want in "Black Chrome", and does not look half as cool as this Kahler. The bridge is for my Gibson Flying V. Thanks buddy!

  • @TheMichaelCollazo : look at aamps.us homepage, they're listed there for some $180

  • @xxxyyyxxxyyyxxx Wow!!! Thanks man!!! Now I'm really torn apart! The stetsbar comes out to $288 with shipping. What should I get the kahler or the stetsbar? I can save around $70 if I get the kahler, but I love the simplicity of the stetsbar, but then again this kahler looks way cooler!! What do you think I should get? I know your probably like "It's up to you" but if you could please give me your honest opinion! Thanks again buddy!

  • @TheMichaelCollazo : Stetsbar will not kill the tone and the sustain of the guitar, Kahler will. But Stetsbar doesn't offer the same tuning stability since it's non-locking. In the end, it is up to you - if you're not playing Dime-style divebombs all the time, I'd say Stetsbar coupled with locking tuners and a Graphtech BlackTusqXL nut.

But in the end, if you want a proper trem that will do it all and give you perfect tuning stability, go with a FloydRose. Still nothing better out there.

  • @xxxyyyxxxyyyxxx

    LOL! At thomann.de it's like 456 Euros...damn. Nice man!

  • @skarbu Because Thomann is selling the 2315, which is the handmade (without the Hybrid feature, i.e it doesn't have the screw that turns it into a fixed bridge), rather than the machine made version (which I presume this fella has installed). Both are made in the USA, the price is the difference. WammiWorld offers hybrids for as little as $170 + free shipping in US, and 15-30 USD to the rest of the world. Installed a few 7200 and 7300 units on some of my guitars - just the ticket!!

  • @skarbu P.S. Don't forget to get a GraphTech self-lubricating nut or a brass nut - a matter of preference really, the stringlock (which is included in the package with Hybrids most of the time) and some locking tuners - I always go with Sperzels and they work like magic. That way your tuning stays locked, period.

  • @TheMichaelCollazo : get the Stetsbar, it feels and sounds fantastic. Kahler is locking, but otherwise doesn't even come near.

  • yngwie malmsteen :)

  • Do you have to make any adjustments to the bridge to compensate for neck angling?

  • @CheezeFox : it's made for this sort of neck angle, with enough room for adjustments. It's built to fit Gibsons.

  • @CheezeFox Flat-top Gibsons in this case, the 7300 is what you need for LesPauls

  • did you have to route the top at all for the Kahler?

  • @BradSpead7 : see older posts

  • @BradSpead7

There is only one serious trem out there that requires no routing and that is Stetsbar. Great but absolutely not cheap. Floyd, Kahler, Steinberger etc. all require routing.

  • Do you recommend it for a Gibson Les Paul?

  • @CiviC092 : no. definitely a Floyd over any Kahler wherever possible.

  • How Well Does A Kahler Work???

  • @DylanBStringer91 ; it does what it should, but it's no competitor to a FloydRose.

  • Any intonation/setup issues?

Herd that the stop bar studs may too close to the bridge on more recent models, causing intonation issues.

  • @TheMercenaryArtist : it was hard to get it right, but no issues once it was done.

  • so does it hold the tune very well after divebombs or it just gives out and goes out of tune

  • @lamman08 : almost as good as a floyd, very sensitive ears might hear it though.

  • Nice man^^

  • Are there tremolo's for SG bass?

  • @disaster9876 : yes, Kahler also makes trems for basses, also 5- or 6-string

  • I so badly want to get a EPIPHONE PROPHECY SG and install a kahler into it ;) Kahler, EMG's, 24 frets EXTRA CUTAWAY It would be a real good shred machine!

  • @SoundOfAShark

I have a GX, there cut aways arent any lower than a 60's SG (not sure about the modern pos's)

The 24 frets are great, though with a 24 3/4 scale there a bit hard to use.

Still the best guitar Epi makes and superior to Gibson's of the same price (but only if you get a good one)

  • hey im gonna see about puttin a kahler on my guitar and i wanna know is it good?and are there any downsides to it?

  • @TheGuitarrox12 : It's not quite as "solid" as a floyd and it's a pita to setup properly. The strings break at the cam often. Other than that, it works just fine. It's good but not perfect.

  • @xxxyyyxxxyyyxxx do you solder your string windings and/or bend them at the ball?

I ask because I suspect that's why they'd break at the cam

  • @geicowithdagheko1 : I didn't and yes, they do break rather fast, half the usual string life you get with other systems

  • @geicowithdagheko1 are u using reinforced strings? cuz suspect that would help

  • @TheGuitarrox12 Buy the BASS SPRINGS for the system, Solder the ball end and winding of the spring. Lubricate the rollers and cam. My kahler flutters dives, and stays in tune perfectly! My favourite tremolo system ever!

  • hell yea man sick guitar u dont see a lot of sg's with trems like that, and nice playing of course. 5 star deffinetly!

  • which flyod rose could u recommend me for "Epiphone SG Prophecy GX Model".

and if might be needing to install any locking tuners, which one should i use.

I have this flyod rose model in mind, is this one adjustable- " Graph Tech Ghost LB-63 Floyd Rose Bridge with Piezo Pickups " . After watching your video, I don't Think i'll be thinking about any other model or brand, but SG.

  • hey man im lookin to throw one of these on my sg, on the kahler website it said that top routing is needed in some cases, did you have to do any routing yours or did it go on without any modification to the guitars body? nice playin by the way

  • @hellraiserC156: I have to answer this like every couple of months, noone bothers reading the commens... oh well. Yeah, it requires some serious routing, so if you want to keep your SG original you must go with the Stetsbar trem, or maybe one of those ancient rare Floyds which were made for Gibsons and are surface-mount with no mods.

  • Which part of the Tune o matic do you use for kahler 7200 installation? the actual bridge or stop tail?

  • @aswesee: the stop tail bushings are holding the trem.

  • the first Khaler i ever had was on a white Aria Pro 2 back in ...85 or 86, back then it cost a lot to have a "crater" of a hole dug in your guitar, it ended cutting the sustain off my guitar, and it screwed up a perfectly good guitar.

It's not a bad system but it's all to what u like, if u don't like sustain, get it.

GUITHERO11 hits a note with me about "soldering" the end of the strings, this was recommended, total pain in the ass and not worth it.

mZappazz is right on the money I agree 100%

  • What settings/effects are you using? It is one of the best tones i've ever heard!

  • @Xaabaa: thanks :) It's going directly into the Peavey Triple XXX EFX40, nothing else. I used just a little bit of (built-in) Chorus, with some Delay in the solo

  • is that bridge a spring bridge?

  • What is a "spring bridge" supposed to be? It's a regular Kahler cam system.

  • a spring bridge could be a floyd rose an you would need to rout the back to get the springs in but how did you install your kahler did you rout it or did you just prop it up with something?

  • you need to route... not so much with kahlers because they are pretty innovative and they are minimilistic as far as routing is concerned. but yes. 100 percent he had to route through the guitar put a giant hole in his guitar to do this. im sure if you ask him he'd say its well worth it. if you ask me its nonsense as sg's are meant for sustain and hes fucking up the sustain. anyways Never use the term "spring bridge" your going to get your ass kicked.

  • do you frequently break the high E string on your kahler? That always happens to me and i solder the windings, center the ball in the hook and i dont pull up much. Yet i break the high E string all the time.

  • I had the axe for a year or so and never broke a string.

  • nice your pretty good a yngwie malmsteen stuff

  • I personally think SGs look horrid with trems(Maestro VOS any1?) but your tastes are your tastes. i loved the lick at 0:46

  • how is the tuning with the Kahler ? stable ?

  • How much do these SG Specials run? I wanted one in this color, and I haven't been able to find them anymore in that color. Are you sure it's the faded model?

Also is the fretboard rosewood or ebony?

  • @AsAngelsFall221 : rosewood

As for the availability, look at the posting date ;)

  • did you have to do any routing on the body?

  • All answered in previous comments guys :)

  • great job man. a LITTLE slow but amazing non the less. whats your overall opinion on the kahler. iv got a 61 RI SG and i want to put one on it :)

  • hey, im thinking of buying a kahler trem to fit to my sg, was it hard to do?

  • do you have any tuning problems?

  • how much did u get the tremolo for?

  • 01:30 gave me goose bumps

Thank you for getting me back into Kahlers

  • What piece are you playing in the beginning? Did you write that?

  • That would be too nice :) No, it's Yngwie "Far beyond the Sun".

  • Wait, disregard that, mine's a much older model.

  • Comment removed

  • I have one exactly like this that came off a gibson SG. The clerk at a music store I got it off some guy who had one on his sg o.o

I doubt you're the same guy, though :p Also mine is vintage, 1980-something.

  • out of curiosity what made you pick Kahler over Floyd for that guitar?

  • the floyd goes into the body of the guitar, it's not possible to put one on a SG without having either a thicker body, or having the back open allowing you to have the springs and block reach out the back of the guitar.

you could do a lot of modding to get it to work.

  • A normal Floyd won't fit, the SG is way too thin for it.

  • thats the only reason you picked Kahler over Floyd?

  • Yes, which other reson could I have?

  • i meant that tip to be for anyone with, or considering getting, a kahler. :-) i didn't even know you were selling this axe.

  • I didn't know I'm sellingit either, but it was an offer I couldn't refuse :)

  • give ya a major tip here, get a pack of string sleeves (made by the makers of "nut sauce"), clip 'em in half, & put 1 on each string, all the way down to the end, so it'll do the curve over the cam. gets rid of the tuning prob if you change between bending the strings with your fingers, & using the whammy in exreme fashions a lot.

  • Thanks, but I already sold it in the meantime

  • How much routing did you need to do to drop that in, did you need to move the posts and did it affect the tone/sustain at all? I'm thinking of putting a tremolo on my Explorer, and Kahlers seem to do the job nicely

  • It's all been answered in previous posts.

  • Yeahhh!!! "Far beyond the sun"!!

  • im buying a new bc rich but i dont know should i get a floyd rose or a kahler the kahler is a x trem model and the floyd is a origional

  • Definitely go with the Floyd original. You can't go wrong if you do!

  • what locking nut are you using

    a kahler or a floyd.

and how do you stop tuning problems when bending/

  • Kahler nut. I never had tuning problems when bending, what exactly do you mean?

  • like lets say you are playing standard tuning

and you bend the GSTRING and it goes to Gb then you need to divebomb to get it back to pitch.

or do you lubercate all the friction points?

yeah kahler locking nut is the best! i got one on my moser floyd

  • Never had such problems, but I always keep the hardware clean and it's perfectly set up.

I actually prefer Floyd nuts, but the Kahler is easier to fit to a stock Gibson headstock.

  • so do you have any doubts what so ever about kahler

    apart from the nut?

  • ah yes far beyond the sun by Yngwie Malmsteen I defintely want a Kahler hybrid but if you switch to fixed bridge mode does it mean you can play any tuning you want.

like on a floyd rose if you have it in E and than switch to say C or even D the guitar wont play right.. so on a kahler would i have this problem in fixed bridge mode or is there no set ups requred for it.

  • No such problems with the hybrids because they can be blocked via a little screw on the tail side where the logo is. The only problem is that you have to use the wrench so the switch takes a couple of seconds.

It's easy to solve that problem with a floyd - just use a flush-mounted one and the tuning problems are gone. The negative being that you can't pull up any more, but I don't need that anyway.

  • I'll keep that in mind since I just got a guitar with a floating floyd rose on it (licensed of all things) and people told me if i put something under it, it would play like a fixed bridge... so kahler I heard you could switch between them and I thought it was really useful.

so like without a setup i can change string gauge or tunings in the non-fixed bridge mode?

  • In the fixed mode only. The non-fixed mode has the same problems like any floating trem unfortunately.

  • alright thanks alot I'll have to get one of those on my next guitar then because thats something I'd be after.

  • keep in mind its only the hybrids that can switch back and forth

  • thanks

yeah of course, its the only one im honestly after at the moment because I saw a Kerry King V for 300$ and it seemed like a steal for a higher quality guitar with one.

  • That's not exactly true.. The pro locks too. They have been locking since 2006 though. Any pro (with only 1 arm hole) is before the change was put in.

  • oh ok, thanks for the info

  • Do the Hybrids "cut into" your guitar? I know Floyds go all the way through and the old Kahler 2200's require a small chunk of wood to be taken out of the body, but do the hybrids cut into the body or do they "float?"

  • You have to route a hole, the whole area between the stoptail and bridge about an inch deep.

  • Nice vid! Im getting an Asat tele with kahler myself, so very helpful to see an awesome player use it! Tight playing!

  • Thanks :) Tele with Kahler is something unusual, will surely be much fun to play and G&L are great axes anyway, even the asian ones.

  • dude teach me how to play guitar because you are a beast

  • Thanks for the kind words :) I'm ok but there are many better players out there...

  • Oh yeah I have a question and I noticed you got a lot of these so sorry for being annoying. :[ But does your Kahler go down as low as a Floyd when you push the bar all the way down?

  • Almost like a Floyd, it can also go down till the strings become loose.

  • 1:29 WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • Weird, I don't even remember commenting this video. I don't think I'd ever want to have someone cut into my Epiphone, that's my first guitar, lol. But still, this is pretty cool.

  • Hey im planning on getting an Epiphone G-400 but I had some questions about tremolo bars with SG's. Can you get a tremolo bar installed on it like any other guitar? And is there a way to keep it from getting detuned, i want a tremolo bar that I can really abuse.

  • on ebay you can find floyd rosesa that can mount on gibsons and epiphones

  • Well I've yet to see one, although a couple of them do exist somewhere.

You can use the Stertsbar Tremolo without any mods on guitars with tune-o-matic bridges. It's a great trem too, but non-locking.

  • kahler isnt locking either

  • It has a locking nut and fine tuners, that's what I meant. Kinda "almost"! locking, while Stetsbar is a regular trem. It works fine with graphtech nut and locking tuners too.

  • well you can get a floyd locking trem for like 16 dollars

  • A crappy floyd copy, yes. The real thing, nope. Besides that, you can't use Floyds with a guitar as thin as the SG anyway - no room for it.

  • i ment a floyd locking nut my bad and on ebay you can still find origional floyd roses that mound on tunomatics and stoptail bolts

  • I have yet to see one. Will you please tell me if one catches your eye again? I've been looking for one for ages.

  • i sent you a message or you can just go on ebay type in gibson floyd rose there is a brand new one

  • But forget to say, it costs more than your guitar, so I dunno if it makes sense.

  • Stupid question: Installing a Kahler 7200 or 7300 on a $200 ESP EC-50, yes or no?

  • Noone can tell you what you will do with your money, sorry :)

  • Pssh... I don't even have the money for a Strat replacement tremolo ....arm.

  • yngwie malmstein, what song

  • Read the previous comments guys, all explained there.

  • did cut any holes in guitar to install it and do you need cut a big hole in your guitar so you can pull up ?

  • hey man, I was thinking of doing this on my Epiphone Iommi signature SG... I already have a Kahler trem, so I'd just have to pay for it to be installed... do you think it's worth it?

  • hey man i have an epiphone sg and i was loookin for a tremeolo to put on it any ideas?

  • Check out the older answers here, it's all in there.

  • stetstrem. you dont even have to cut any holes in your guitar for it, im thinking about gettin one for my sg.

  • where did you buy the kahler tremolo?

  • Did u change the pickups?

  • Nope, all stock except for the trem and tuners.

  • FUCKING SICK BRO! I'm gunna get a kahler on my gibson V, going to cast alot, But w/e.

  • From Poland: five stars.

  • Wow, nice playing. I have a Gibson SG Faded (07) myself, in order to put the tremolo on, you don't have to alter the guitar? Just click-on and play?

  • Nope, see former postings. The only trem that can do what you want is Stetsbar - fully reversible and a great trem to boot.

  • can i put 1 on a les paul with a carved top?

  • Yes, that's what it was made for. But that involves (irreversible) routing of the area between the bridge ande the stop tail. I'd rather recommend the Stetsbar tremolo, it is simply awesome and doesn't require any alterations of the guitar, so you can always go back to its original state. Kahler is a one-way street, so think twice before you do it..

  • Awesome playing, one question though, do you think it would be possible to put a Kahler on an Epiphone Dot Studio?

  • Technically I think it should be possible but you would irreversably destroy the guitar. In your case I'd say go with a Stetsbar, it's a better tremolo and it can be installed with no damage to the guitar and is fully reversible if you'd ever want to put it back into its original shape.
