How nice not to see all them childish goal celebrations .. he scores a goal that most guys now days would give an arm to score and he simply raises an arm .. happy days .. long gone !!
Forget Pele, Ronaldo; the lot of them, this guy is the best footballer the world has ever seen. Both feet, with pace from distance, power headers from nowhere, dribbled with the ball almost glued to his feet, perfect one-touch passes & crosses, he could drag the ball out of the air running forward, & all that with an old rock hard leather caser in a field of mud. Imagine how much more dangerous he'd be on today's pitches, with today's footballs. There's no-one to touch him, no-one comes close.
It's great to have videos like this for people like me that didn't get a chance to see him play during his day. now we have his images frozen in time! :)
should not be compared the results of 2nd division player (Clough's Middlesbrough and Sunderland crawled in same period) with the one of the best player English football (maybe the best).
@MultiPlayaaa You couldn't sound more crazy. Charlton scored more goals and was a midfielder, while Clough was a striker. Plus, Brian Clough wasn't part of plane crash which almost wiped out a whole team and finished a club. Bobby is simply more Iconic, he was a star player for United and England when they both won their most prestigious honours and was the spearhead of each starting XI throughout his playing career. Clough was a great manager, but Charlton was unquestionably the better player
@MrJeppebuus yea mate, a legend like him, maybe not the fanciest goals in today's view, but what he dont is what matters. A player with a soul is something rare today.
@omerbl1996 well not the fanciest compared to what they got today, but considering the quality of the ball and boots and field and everything, i believe if Sir Charlton would have been born these days he'd amaze the world.
