  • they're not kidding you when they talk about the popularity of mail theft and identity theft. Take action now. I'm designing a mailbox as we speak.

  • or someone could just hit it then take it somewhere if they have powertools

  • sometimes I spank chub while touching the boss!!

  • let me make this clear the mail man does not have a key to the box. the mail is inserted in almost the same way as you would a post box on the street. That box is locks and you put mail in without a key you only need the key to remove the mail. as for mail you are sending out there is a ledge inside the mail box below were the incoming mail is dropped that allows the mail person to pick up outgoing mail. however the outgoing mail is not secured from theives.

  • Great video !!!!

  • It is funny to see people describe tube locks as cheap. In fact they are more expensive to produce than comparable flat key locks and much harder to pick...especially with varying tube diameters.

  • In 2004 Kryptonite recalled their tubular locks and replaced them with a new flat-key disc-cylinder lock system because the tubular locks were found to be easily picked using nothing more than a Bic pen tube. For the price of these mailboxes, they should have a lock which cant be picked in 10 seconds!

  • @johnnyo450 how to they compare to dead bolts?

  • Every Secure Locking Mailbox can be pryed or blown opened. That is not the point. The point is the length of time it takes to open. Almost all "locking Mailboxes" that are available can be opened with your bare hands or a small screw driver in a couple of seconds. A true security locking mailbox such as the Mail Boss is exceedingly difficult to open even with a crow bar or any other tool.

  • @artisanp: Actually, you cannot easily bend this mailbox with a crowbar. You are seeing our competitors mailboxes easily pried open. Ours can be bent, in about 5 minutes by a 200 lb man!

@obeseotters: The mailman DOES NOT NEED A KEY to deliver your mail, there is a incoming mail slot that opens without a key and allows the mail man to drop your mail down into the storage compartment, which cannot be accessed without a key.

  • This looks like another China mailbox. The locked door clearly bends easily when the guy pries it with a crow bar. This is no secure mailbox. It's a waste of money.

  • ok so how does the mailman open it? does he have a key that works on all boxes

  • YES!!

In the middle of every locking mailbox, the keyhole has a circle that doesn't belong on the mailbox owners key. The mailmans key has that circle, which works on all boxes.

If it didn't have that circle if it locks, it wouldn't be postmaster general approved!

  • ANOTHER QUICK NOTE: I just got done installing one of these. As mentioned it is a very heavy duty box. those of your who do not have a post that is anchored with plenty of concrete/cement do not mount this until you have anchored your mail post as the weight will just make the whole post fall over.

  • I bought this mailbox because I have several neighbors that have them and reccomended them. Before I bought this I saw several at local home centers. They looked as if they would easily be bent or dented. When I received the mail boss I could not beleive the weight...41 lbs! It was super easy to install and has been formadal apponent to the vandles as well as the mail thieves I had been getting stung by. I feel safer now that I can actually retrieve the junk mail that needs to be shredded.

  • There is no such thing as a baseball bat proof mailbox however this is about as close as it gets. your box will have a nice size dent in it but it will not be splattered all over the road like most other mail boxes.

one very nice thing is they make it very clear do not try to bolt this box into wood without drilling a pilot hole first. THEY ACTUALLY SEND THE CORRECT DRILL BIT WITH THE BOX.

  • whether this is a good or bad product of all the boxes i have looked at over the last two weeks this and the pinnacle plus models look like the best bet unless you want to spend over 200 dollars. in that price range it has the best locking system. most people don't have specialized lock pick tools PO boxes are the best security but businesses will not ship to them, plus who wants to have to go visit the post office every day. the money for gas the fee for the p.o. mail box.

  • the pinnacle boxes can be broken into with a screwdriver!

  • that is most likely correct and is the reason I have purchased a mailboss rather than a pinnacle.

  • Tubular locks offer superior protection to pin-tumbler locks and wafer-tumbler locks, but they are also more expensive. Instead of one row of pins, tubular locks have pins positioned all the way around the circumference of the cylinder plug. This makes them much harder to pick. Conventional lock-picking techniques usually don't work on this type of lock.

  • Tube locks are easily opened with a tube pick, no real skill is needed the tool does all the work. They should 86 the tube lock and replace it with a Medeco cam lock.

  • true, although i have never seen a mailbox under in this price range that come with anything better than the tubular lock. I suppose you could always replay the oem lock with the Medeco cam lock. it would be easy.

  • wonder what type of lock they are offering..

the box is only as good as the lock.
