  • Made a deal with myself that i will NEVER under go General, & if that means i die, i die.

    Mike/Liverpool uk

  • Pulling Teeth)

  • looks so nice

  • I'm having my tonsils out, I'm dead scared of the breathing tube for some reason :L

  • i have surgery today for a broken jaw wish me luck

  • @MMJ420Gardener how was it?

  • @MightyJustas honestly wasnt too bad, it was my first surgery so i was a little scared of the anesthesia but once i woke up i was a little out of it but not too much pain or feeling for like 30min then it really started to kick in, luckily for me i had some pain killers and since then i feel good surgery really isnt to bad atleast in my case

  • @MMJ420Gardener i could really use one right now, cant fall asleep, the night shift fucked me up. Good for you anyway

  • @MightyJustas what helps me when my sleeping times get fucked up is i eatither take some nyquil or some benydryl that shit knocks me out!

  • go in for rape!!!

  • The milky white stuff is Propofol. The same drug that M. Jackson had a problem with. IT BURNS going into the vein from the IV. AND why doesn't anyone have frigging gloves on?

  • hahah i went ape shit when they put me on this and squirmed around alot, aparently it looked mad funny

  • @Megabinkers1 Hi(: My dad was about 38 when he had his hernia surgery! ( not to freak you out but,) he was in a lot of pain! ! ! It even hurt to go to the bathroom! You may have to be cathaterized due to swelling, Very uncomfortable he says! But it felt good to 'go' ;) just pray and find a place to stay for a couple weeks! p.s. Anestisia can make you puke... you've been warned ;) Good luck!!!

    Ema

  • i had a double hernia repair done @ 6 to 8 weeks of age, and i didn't feel a thing, not a Damn thing!!! Of course that was 30 yrs. ago or so.

  • I had my hernia surgery several months ago, All i remember is the doctor going, "I'm going to give you a great coctail! " He injected my IV with something and immediately I felt great! and then boom lights out! It felt like 10 minutes passed and I was out of surgery. My recovery was not bad at all! I was alittle tired but felt great as a bit of time passed!

  • I love gases I hate needle . I had 2 surgeries they put me sleep with gas. And 1 surgery they put me sleep with IV but not milky it clear Iiquid.

  • What was she having done?

  • Good luck that's 14 years of school after high school

  • @alex4christ1

12 years without a fellowship, bro

  • I have big dreams, though I am young I will be an Anesthesioligist

  • The anesthesitist DID NOT correctly sublux the jaw is even at all

  • idk why everybody opens their eyes when they r sleeping under anesthesia

  • Im scared to be put under. what is it like?. Ive heard of many people never waking up.

  • I definatly love this video. I hate propofol. AKA Diprivan. I almost died because of it. I looooooooooove sevoflurane. It enhances my synesthesia. :)

  • No Anesthesia Awareness Monitor, no EKG, and he did not even check for breath sounds to make sure the tube was not too far down the trachea ventilating only one lung... NOT impressed with this guy.

  • I've had a total of 5 surgeries(Two Knee Repairs and Three Hernia Repairs) and it never fails. Everytime I have gone in the OR I start by bragging about my goal of making it past the count of 5 counting back from 10 so once the doc challenged me I started counting and I don't think I made it to 7 before I was out ^^

  • 5:48=serenity!

  • Bad choice for the music: MISSION IPOSSIBLE !!!!!

  • I wonder what kind of procedure she was having. Anyone know?

  • when i woke up i still had da tube in my mouth. once i was going under they had 2 tie my down and force the mask on me coz i kept resisting and i was awak and they put me 2 sleep coz i was panicing i've had surgery llooaaddss of time i kinda like being put under lolzx strange i know

  • I'm told to just relax... i'm 11 and iv had 18 surgeries... over 30 time on the gas

  • all righty had my surgery this morning at 8:15 got an iv talked with the doctors and hopped on the bed put the EkG on i dont even remember getting a mask or a tube i dont remember recovery very well either i couldnt think of the song neil diamonds heartlight at all

  • I was terrified watching this as the same will happen to me tomorrow to have my wisdom teeth removed

  • im about to have surgery on wednesday.

and i didnt know how they put anesthesia..

    but.. ahh im scared.. :/

    does it hurt?

im 19.. and ive never really pierced anythihg,,

soo i dont want needles :'[

  • @jmtzhouston You wont feel a thing! a needle in the back of your hand is a sharp scratch and then the anesthetic agent will be injected through this and the feeling is a very light headed feeling for a couple of seconds and then next thing you know your in the recovery room.

Just had a Hernia Op, 5 days post op.

  • @bwfc4eva86 thank you so much! i cant wait.

  • @jmtzhouston Good luck, although you'll be fine.

  • @bwfc4eva86 thank you! :]

everything turned out to be fine

  • @bwfc4eva86 thank you!

it was exactly as you said

i closed my eyes and next thing i knew i was in the recovery room with the nurse offering me apple juice(:

  • @jmtzhouston Glad your operation went well! I'm a trainee Nurse, so its my job to put people at ease. Wishing you a speedy recovery. All the best.

  • @jmtzhouston

    hi imtzhouston

i am MultiAnimalman and I have had lots of surgeries and procedures. The anesthesia puts your your whole body asleep or parts of it. During the surgery or procedure, you will not feel a thing, and is very safe. The surgery will be over before you know it, and takes a while to wake up, and recovery. To me anesthesia feels very nice, and comfortable. Hope your surgery goes very well ,and feel free to ask me any questions, and I will try to answer them.

  • Ok, patient comes in the room, put the darn pulse ox on immediately...as well as the ECG leads...then the bp cuff....then you can give her her versed...also...check placement of the tube confirming bilateral breath sounds with a stethescope...tape that tube in before you give over the patient to the surgery team...I dunno this guy seemed awkward to me...

  • Yup, propofol stings.

  • @bcwlim You should have a Lignocaine injection in the back of your hand first. I had Propofol last thursday and didn't feel a thing. This is my experience from the UK.

  • does anestesia hurt

  • Hmm...Where are the electrodes of the ECG monitor and where's the pulse oximeter?:S Didn't they put them on her? And intubation without confirming the position of the tube, and fixing it with a tape or a tube holder?Weird...Anyway (as I said previously),I could watch videos like this one all day!!Wish there would be more uploaded to Youtube!

  • @MedSciFan i know i dont see anything on her except for a blood pressure cuff? i had everything for my surgery in january healed very nice got to see the doctor on monday to make sure everything is fine

  • when i got for wisdom teeth, he put a needly in my hand which didnt hurt at all, then he told me i was going to have a party in my brain then i was out.... but that was just for wisdom teeth this looks worse

  • very interesting

  • So, I may not be the quickest one out there, but I don't think that's a good thing when after they stuck her she began having a burning sensation due to the medications being injected.....Never really heard of that one....Throws me off cause the injections are typically having a cold feeling going in...

  • @SuperWarking when i had to get general anesthesia (last thursday for chest operation) the medication being injected did really hurt.....it was nowhere near as bad as what this woman does but it did feel pretty painfull.

  • what is actuallt anesthesia??

  • What happened to patient confidentiality? you filmed the patient's face while being induced and posted it for the whole world to see. Did she agree to that?

  • i love it. i want more more more anesthesia and the entubations

  • @myhonda2008 I agree!

  • DONT GO FOR THE MASK!

  • shouldn't they have all of this shit prepped way in advance before ever bringing the patient in???

  • Another reason why I HATE medical facilities , Nature takes care of me when I am sick , I do not care if I need surgery all well I hope for the best but will refuse , call me crazy but that is just me , I am all about nature and feel great and energetic

  • that doctor looks sketch as fuck

  • "usually that medication does not sting"

and usually the operating room does not have a crafstman tool chest and a chevy on a floor jack behind the camera

  • they put a tube like that down my throat when i had an opp on my ankle, when i woke up , i could taste it !!

  • i hate this been throught this many times

  • @nikki33100 i was too afraid to go through it so i declined my rib surgery.

  • No wonder it takes Anaesetist's so long to get through school. They need to grow 4 extra hands!

  • I been knocked out by a female anastshologist in 2005 for my surgery.

  • I wish there were more real case anesthesia videos -like this one- uploaded to Youtube!! I would like to watch more, I'm very interested in anesthesia and respiratory therapy! But I think I've already seen all I could find here:( If someone has more, please don't hesitate to upload it! I would be able to watch them all day:)

  • @Liaram66

lol, u r like me :-) i also saw you on one of the other videos but that was animation:d

  • @ChaudhryTyagi Yes,I think I really watched everything which was about anesthesia, even German, Chinese, Japanese, Russian etc. videos.I could not understand a word, but they were interesting! I think I'm a fanatic...XD

  • @Liaram66

lol, i am starting to do that now, gonna sleep though its 4 AM in India. However, I wanna go a step beyond, u know what I mean, get my hands on some stuff though I know it could be my first n last time but just thinking,:d

  • In my country, Sweden a nurse specialized in anesthesiology can do this on his/her own, is it so even in other country's in Europe? and in the USA? anybody that knows?

    (thanks for answers, I'm curious)

  • @MedicalAviator It is possible in the USA, however, it depends on the state and the hospital.

  • Thank you: hman9981 for the info!

  • oh my god, the anaesthesiologist did not secure the ETT and cover patient's eye lids...and propofol should be given with some amounts of Lidocaine, or to be flushed fast with the Intravenous Fluids like Lactated Ringer solution

  • i love this. i had it 3 times. 2 times with a mask and 1 in direct way

  • why does the lady almost get up and almost cry before falling asleep?Does it hurt when they inject the thing?

  • The anesthesiologist injected her with propofol which has a burning sensation. Most anesthesiologists mix a local anesthetic in with propofol to numb it.

  • @sheverardez i cry when im getting an operatuoncos im scared

  • @sheverardez : Well i got the general a da other day and it didnt hurt me at all. The surgeon said to me dis mite hurt a bit and den i passed out! Kinda funny ;lik

  • @sheverardez It doesn't hurt it eliminates all the pain and reduces the way you breath , u sense difficulty breathing. it slows down ur heart rate makes you very dissy. i dislocated my shoulder one time and had to go to the hospital and had this stuff injected in me those are the symptoms i felt right away. after the procedure was over a nurse had to make sure i was able to walk ok before being discharged. i also did vomit a few times as well during my recovery stage.

  • @sheverardez They may be giving her potassium, which can be an irritant , and it will burn through the IV.

  • i rember everything but say i went home later and had a little sleep in the day i would wake up confussed not knowing what date it was what i had done that day well scarry happend every time

  • when i had to have an operation they wheeled me in to that room (since i couldnt walk) and then asked me question and then using the canular in my arm to inject a milky coloured substance and then 2 seconds later i was out i had no pre meds suprisingly. waking up is a bit blurry to remember though :L

  • A lot of people talk shite after anaesthesia. Does this happen with every anaesthetic? Holly shite my parents are both anaesthesiologists and they gave me 2 anaesthesias who knows what I've been talking about - maybe the deepest secrets of my soul.

  • So fascinating!

  • I've gone thru anesthias full sleep (General) as a baby and as a 5 year old but the only part about it that i remember was waking up after surgury. Does a Children's Hospital do this the SAME way as in the video???? And if I'm 18 and get surgury at a children's hospital is it still this SAME way??? Thanks for the help on this AWESOME video.

  • For most surgeries they sedate you with a "cockatail" in the IV and then wheel you in the OR,by the time you're in the OR you're so lightheaded, sleepy, and relaxed that you may not remember what comes next. They move you on the bed then inject a white milky liquid, then you're out. I've had 3 surgeries, one being when I was 18. :)

  • ok neato thanks. had the surgery today, they knew I sing so I didn't have to ahve the endo tracheal tube.all i remmeber is the or I was i the bed with bars they injected and i was out. then i woke up and i have a mask on like oxygen and I had a cool heartmoniter, which wasn't as scary as i thought I was pretty happy it hurts now they let me have a free sealed packeged endo tube for soulvineer, I didn't liek the IV. im light headed and on morphene. Thanks again for your help.

  • @Gretchenfan76 we call the white stuff "milk of amnesia"

  • @Gretchenfan76 That white milky liquid is called Propofol. It is a quick acting short lasting induction drug. We use it in animal medicine with most surgical procedures.

  • @imsoninja hehe yep. :) I don't think I'd learned the name of it when I posted that comment, but I've learned more and more as time goes on. Actually just had 3 more surgeries since that comment, 2 being oral surgeries and the last one being an ankle surgery 25th of April

  • @Gretchenfan76 I had my surgery a few month ago. But they injected that milky liquid first then they injected some no color liquid and I can say it was at middle of injection of that no color liquid that i saw a complete black and to me after 2 seconds I saw I'm in recovery room.

  • I have been trying to decide on getting general anesthesia for required surgery but can't decide if CRNA's (nurses) are safe. The anesthesiologists that I talk to say "maybe" but they would prefer an anesthesiologist is all other factors (experience) are equal. The CRNA's that I have spoken to seem focused on their salary and how they are "just as good as anesthesiologists".....There are a lot of negative comments about CRNA's on youtube; the CRNA's that I have met were rude, uncaring..

  • I don't know where you are, but holy cow...nurses are ALL about caring. If anything MDs train to study pathology and disease mechanisms, nurses are patient focused.

  • Wow! No Stethoscope for Bilateral breath sounds, that must be because he listened to them once already in pre-op.

  • @jiggity67 lol...too dependant on that CO2 monitor.

  • pojebane

  • how they put you to sleep

  • franklinl4vt : they put you to sleep with a milky white substance which knocks you out--usually it's Propofol.. the one that Michael Jackson used by himself at his home unsupervised. It's a very dangerous substance that's why Anesthetists or Anesthesiologists and some doctors are allowed to use it for surgeries.

  • Do Not Let A CNA do the job! I just did last week and I have a inch wide, inch deep hole in the bottom left read of my mouth! And they never said a word about it or even put it in the notes of the records of what went on in the operating room!!!

  • DisazterArea: most of the time when a CRNA, a Anesthesiologist Assistant(Physician Assistant Anesthetist) or an Anesthesiologist doctor put the tube in your mouth and down your throat, it does cause some scractching in the throat. Some people are more sensitive that others and I think maybe that's what happened to you. Did it heal okay and in a timely fashion???

  • @saif04 How do I reply

  • @saif04 How to I reply to these assumptions

  • If you are having anesthesia, make sure that it's from an anesthesiologist (MD) not a nurse (CRNA)..the two are not the same and anesthesia administered by a nurse is unsafe. No physician would consent to have his/her anesthesia administered by a nurse, why should

  • I agree, nurses should not be administering anesthesia.

  • DaK1LL: what about AAs(Anesthesiologist Physician Assistants) who have gone to medical school for 2 years Masters degree in Anesthesiology. Actually all three practitioners have the same safety record!!!

  • Do Not Let A CNA do the job! I just did last week and I have a inch wide, inch deep hole in the bottom left read of my mouth! And they never said a word about it or even put it in the notes of the records of what went on in the operating room!!!

  • jerryjohnston2009: Actually anesthsia can be given by a CRNA, an Anesthesiologist and an AA(Physician Assistant Anesthetist--who have a Masters of Anesthesiology from a medical school--2 years long). All three practitioners have the same safety record. At all times during a surgery, a doctor of anesthesiology must be nearby physically for any complications. But CRNAs and AAs have a wide range of similar experience giving anesthesia and are very safe indeed. Research proves it. Hope that helps.

  • Andylong99, with general anethesia, everybody gets either intubated or a LMA put in. It's paramount that your airway is protected. I've been put under more times, probably 20, than I care to remember and it's really not a big deal. You're probably worried about "loosing control", but since you're going to be unconcious & paraylized, you really do want somebody there to take over for you and protect you. The whole breathing tube thing looks worse than it actually is. You don't feel a thing.

  • 1.i dont like being paralyzed cause it makes me feel uncomfortable and it makes me feel like im being tied up and that makes me feel nervous and it makes my Anxiety worse

  • I was told to count to 40....I only made it to 4.

  • When I had my tonsillectomy in anesthesia, the pill (Dormicum) I had got before the anesthesia sedated me so much that I cannot remember how I got into the OR....XDI think I was a bit oversedated, because I slept a full day after my operation without waking upfor only a minute...

  • @frank6306 LOL! That's the part which is completely missing from my memories. When I had my tonsillectomy in general anesthesia at age 14, the Dormicum pill itself -which I got before the surgery- kicked me out so much that I cannot remember how I was taken to the OR...XD I didn't reach the counting part...LOL

  • SAUGEIL

  • Bad ass they did that to me and cut 2 inchs out of the back of my head. They could have droped an Anvil on me and I wouldn't have felt it.

  • i got three of my teeth out tody i went to sleep in like 30 seconds

  • How does it feel please tell me anyone tell me how it feels for your tooth to take out.I will only take out one tooth.Tell me please anyone!I have to go soon!

  • It doesn't hurt at all you get the anestesia and fall asleep in like 2 min. then you wake up with your tooth out andd the nurse gives you a drink and you can't eat for a few hours. and you must put bandages in your mouth to stop the bleeding.

  • Thanks it helped me

  • yea, if you're getting put under, there's like this big demon waiting on the other side. No, seriously you're out in 30 seconds. In those 30 second, you might feel like you're shrinking and or the room getting larger. Also, your hearing goes funny. The room and anybody talking to you, will sound echoy with a slight metallic ring/overtone. I suppose it might be scary for a first-timer, but it happens so fast that by the time you really notice it, it's too late and you're out in another second.

  • why did it take that long to get her to sleep

  • newburn15: She actually went to sleep very quickly. What you see the doctor doing was pumping oxygen into her system since she stopped breathing due to the paralyzing medicine--to prevent her from moving during surgery. The doctor puts lots of oxygen in her body (overdoes it--hyperoxygenate her system) and then pulls the mask off and inserts the breathing tube down her throat so the machine can then do the breathing for her. Hope that helps:)

  • When youare asleep, they usually give you a praalyzing agent to keep you from moving. Now, that also paralyzes your lungs, so they put a tube down you to hook up to a machine to breathe for you. Did you see how he put that tube down him at the end?

  • medicaldud: Exactly, you got it right and I woul add that the Doctor, CRNA or AA has to hyperoxygenate the patient by manually pumping oxygen into his/her system before inserting the tube which we see the doctor doing for a couple of minutes:)

  • it stops your chest muscles moving because signals cant reach your muscles as they are blocked by the drugs at the neuro plate.

Other drugs do this but not in the same way, Propofol, which is the drug they use to induce anaesthesia also does this but because it depresses respiration at the CNS in the brain.

These agents that relax muscles are however much more dangerous as they are harder to reverse and take longer to wear off.

  • @medicaldud i thot it was awuman lol

  • You get a tube inserted in your lungs which breathes for you while under

  • how bad is the wisdom teeth pulling and what is the procedure ?? if someone can send me a reply that would be killer cause i am getting an appointment to have my wisdom teeth pulled and i need to know the info

  • its not bad at all if none of them are impacted, i had one impacted in mine and it made the hole a bit larger after they pulled it out. my mouth bled for 2 days after and i didnt eat for a week lol. but from people i have talked to i had it really bad. i've heard of it not effecting some people hardly at all

  • what that fucking intermittent music in the back of the video?

  • How come you don't use Lidocaine with the Propofol?

  • carl95125: Because, Lidocaine is used to reduce pain associated with propofol injection, either mixed with propofol or preceding it as a separate injection. The addition of lidocaine to propofol causes destabilization of the emulsion and reduces anesthetic potency in humans. Hope that helps.

  • This video was made for Medstudents to find all the mistakes an anaesthesiolgist could make. Can you spot all 10?

  • hhmmm strange I mean this is a real patient so it's ethical bullshit

And I dunno the standard operations procedure for a anesthesia

  • da fällt mich echt nix mehr zu ein. Fehler über Fehler

  • Seven min. to tube a patient,what a joke.

  • motogpron: well every patient has their own complications. Who knows!!! That's why Anesthesiologist go to 4 years of med school and then do 5 years of Anesthesiology residency and then earn $350,000 starting salary:)

  • why NO closed captioned in here video

  • what the glove r setrilized any more dipstip

  • This fella is the worst anaesthetist I have ever seen. First he insert a Venflon when she's standin up then the tube isn't lubricated. I can't believe he hasn't taped the tube either. Fool

  • @kegsydizzle You're fucking retarded. Don't call someone an idiot if you don't even know what their position is called. He's an ANESTHESIOLOGIST.

  • @kegsydizzle You're fucking retarded. Don't call someone an idiot if you don't even know what their position is called. He's an ANESTHESIOLOGIST.

  • Whats that blue bag he's squeezing??

  • i think it's called a re-breather

  • yeah...im going to have to agree with Kelly... lol

  • Comment removed

  • uh huh...... i totally believe you...

  • BYYYY FAR. THE WORST ANESTHESIOLOGIST I HAVE EVER SEEN.

not even taping the endotracheal tube to the person to prevent trauma. FUCKED UPPPPP.

  • that anesthesiologist is a loser

  • why is the anesthia where a watch in the or

  • omgggg i am soooo scared of like waking uo in the middle of surgery

    LOL

im kinda afraid too cuz im getting rhinoplasty and yea

    :/

anyone know if u actually feel anything with anestthesia?

  • Fuck yes it's awesome

  • Not a thing, you get it right, you then fall asleep and wake up in the recovery room after, are and its soooo relaxing waking u p and it is relaxing going off aswell.

  • I think you've probably already had surgery since you asked that 2 weeks ago but there really is nothing to worry about. After they give you the anesthesia, you start to feel relaxed then the next thing you know you're having people tell you to wake up and that the surgery's over. =] I didn't feel too scared, I just was worried if I was looking like a tired freak lol.

  • Hahahaha! Just had an aseptics in surgery-class today, and ohh lord - that is NOT what I was taught! :D

  • BSI

    Put Damn Gloves on

    MAJOR HEALTH CODE VIOLATION!!!!!

  • i just love operating rooms idk why. does anyone else feel this way? haha like surgeons with masks its just so calm in them durng surgery i love it

  • Um no having to have major back surgery no I hate operating rooms.

  • @mattcat11

I enjoy going in the surgery room, seeing the surgeons, and being put to sleep (gas). It feels very good to me.

  • I just had a liver transplant and that was the scariest part

  • I have had a lot of surgery about 13 or so that stuff always stings

  • I had bannana

  • This is fascinating. It's almost like you experience it all with her.

  • the IV needle should not hurt at all, they freeze the hand before injecting the IV needle for the specific purpose of eliminating PAIN. Like the one she had.
