This is originally a Sam and Dave song. Taj's version is completely different from their's but I recommend their album "I Thank You". It was their final album with Stax and produced by Steve Cropper. Amazing album.
I had the deep deep pleasure of playin' and singin' this with Taj at Memorial Auditorium in 1992. He said he'd only played it live a few times since recording it...I'll NEVER forget that night ~!
goddamn the copyright bullshit for not having the video from the rolling stones rock and roll circus. i love hearing the sound from this but come on man!
I just saw this guy in Coloma and he didn't play this song. He was awesome, almost the entire show was acoustic and had a South African vibe, plus he had gained 100 pounds--but haven't we all?
@plilgeberg Lol. This is just one of those jams that puts you in a great mood though. I am going to put a cd together with this on it and other upbeat tunes that make you feel great, 1 song from each band, roadhouse blues, a creedence tune, etc.
There's a poet on every corner. Let the truth be told. Fuck the Gestapo Police in Fullerton! It's about love for every man & woman, every bloodsucking mosquito on every mammal's limb, that's where I donate blood. We will revolt until George Bush has a grave to rollover in.
