The reason that Government actions are sometimes stupid is that they are run by Republicans. FEMA under Clinton worked well, but FEMA under Bush? and you get Katrina.

Unfortunately Health insurance today is a Bureaucracy run by People who believe in personal advancement only and hence are Republicans that you cannot vote on, as you cannot even change your insurance your employer has chosen, if you have even that much.

The reason the Federal government has failed these past eight years is because the people we've put in charge of it have been incompetent. You're turning it into an ideological issue - "government is always bad" - which is an oversimplication and does not contribute to any kind of solution.

The argument of this video is that FEMA has failed, Homeland Security is a mess, and so therefore, government-provided universal healthcare would be just as bad, because there is something inherently wrong with government itself.

That's the attitude of many conservatives. They see government itself as inherently corrupt, and so naturally, everyone they appoint is equally corrupt. This is why the Republican Party has been the party of corruption for eight years now.

The problem is not that government is inherently flawed, but that you people on the right who feel that way consistently elect incompetent people to it. The same people who make videos like this now are those who voted for Bush in 2000 and again in 2004 because Gore and Kerry were scary liberals. Learn from your mistakes or you'll be doomed to repeat them.

You can't blame decades of government incompetence on just one regime. Deficit spending spree goes back through the Clinton, Bush I, and each previous generation. 40% of GDP is taken up by simply making interest payments. Since taxation in 1913 our government has been nothing but a burden to populace, period.

Deficit spending yes, incompetence no. The Republican Party holds a near monopoly on incompetence in our government. That's because you conservatives, "small government types", look at government as being inherently incompetent. Exhibit A is this video. You not only allow it as a norm, but expect it. We liberals expect government to work.

I'm no fan of Bill Clinton, but he is certainly not incompetent. That's because the people who elected him did not have the mindset that government itself is inherently incapable of accomplishing anything. Conservatives do, and that's why conservative leaders are always such bumbling, inept fools.

Voting out members of the federal bureaucracy has never stopped them from overspending our country into financial oblivion, nor has it improved the quality of most of the programs it runs...

There is a third choice-letting the current system collapse and have everyone go back to paying cash and philanthropic agencies help those who need it....unless of course you are so cynical that you believe Americans won't step up to the plate...in which case forcibly taking everyones money makes sense.
