  • why is the quality of the video so poor

  • What an *awesome* prologue...

  • Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream...?

  • An excellent horror film and by far the best by John Carpenter.

The remake was an absolute disgrace.

  • Shocking film, one of the best in his genre.

  • i love how john carpenter used the same character from halloween like annie, laurie, and sheriff brackett, also the atkins was in halloween 3

  • This movie is terrifying and actually has a plot that is meaningful and has a lesson about karma in it. This movie should be rated the #1 horror film of the 20th century.

  • One of the my favorites. Have watched it countless times and I'm about to enjoy it again...Thank you very much!

  • One of my all time favourite horror movies. The remake was trash, not nearly as atmospheric. A good cast and creepy music plus a superb shocking ending.

  • Atkins and JL Curtis look like brother and sister...Houseman should've gotten an Oscar for this tiny role! Get goose bumps every time I watch this scene...love Stevie Waynes radio show music...the very last scene of this flick is breath-taking(where Blake chops off Father Malone's head). Soundtrack is awesome! Scenery is perfect.

  • I like this opening sequence with John Houseman ,sets the film up nicely. Feel the movie could have been a bit longer to develop the story a bit more. However, its still pretty good.

  • The Fog was good, but it could have been better; even Carpenter admits this. I think the main problem was that the movie has three storylines running parallel to each other(Stevie Wayne/Nick Castle/Father Malone) but don't actually intersect until the end. It gives the movie a rather unfinished feel to it, like there should have been more connection between the storylines. Tom Atkins was also a little too old for the role of Nick Castle. Watching him with Jamie Lee Curtis was a little gross.

  • @44excalibur I disagree, This film is faultless imo, the atmopshere, creepy coastal setting, music and likeable characters makes for a timeless CLASSIC!!!!! Maybe Carpenter doesn't realise just how GENIUS he really is?! Also i'm 28 and i think Tom Atkins is HOT.... i'm a fan of all his movies...even H3 Season Of The Witch! So yeah, nothing creepy about Tom and Jamie at all! :)

  • @Tabitha43 I agree that the setting, atmosphere, and suspense were all great, but as a big Carpenter fan I have to say that I found the characters and storylines somewhat underdeveloped as he was juggling three storylines at once that all felt a little unfinished. Carpenter himself stated that he had to re-shoot half of the movie after seeing his original cut because of how bad he thought it was. Carpenter's words, not mine. I just think he could have done a little better, that's all.

  • @44excalibur I understand, atleast we both acknowledge it's a great movie! :)

  • @Tabitha43 Yes, absolutely! Scared the hell out of me when I was a kid! :) Although I did wonder where all the other townspeople disappeared to when the fog rolled through the town at the end. The ghosts only had one more person they needed to kill to get their six victims, and no one in town got caught out on the street and killed? Hmmmm......Oh well, still a great horror movie!

  • A truly great, classic horror film-- But, man, Stevie Wayne has the WORST radio station on Earth! Who would want to listen to that crap? ;)

  • @GoblinXXX Stevie runs the late-night graveyard shift at the radio station. They usually play an odd selection of music. Dee Snyder's House Of Hair is a good example. :P

  • the best hacking movie !!!!!

  • i agree..i love this movie..thanks...

  • Thank you very much for uploading my one of most favorite flick, the movie is well made with good actors and actresses.

  • Ahh, the 80's. The decade when horror truly reigned supreme both at the box office and at the video stores (which are sadly going the way of vhs as we speak). Then the 90s came along and ruined everything.

  • @grindhousejunky79 Actually the production of this movie took place in 1979 & released in 1980. The 1980's as a decade as with any other decade took a few years to establish itself as what it is known for know, so even in 1980 the media/fashion atmosphere would appear still rather 1970's.

  • @ThePoo57 The only place I can think of where early 80s media/fashion atmosphere mostly still appeared rather 70s was only in America where fashion was still a bit behind. If it wasn't for the internet shopping now the fashion atmosphere would still be behind.

  • @grindhousejunky79 your right man the good ol 80's

  • God Bless John Carpenter and Debra Hill. This is how you do it!

  • I was 18 when this came out and it used to play on tv the odd time in the early 80s here in Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada. We live on the Atlantic and get plenty of fog. Amazing what it can hide or obscure. The mayhem it can cause is substantial. Swiss Air 111 went down not far from here and there was some fog present. It was raining a bit, misty. I don't think fog really played a part in the crash but it has caused traffic fatalities from time to time. The atmosphere of this film hits home here.

  • Thanks for the upload. The Fog (Big John's of course) is among my favorite films, they're totally unable to make horror films like this today in Hollywood, with no CGI and cut off fingers and silly gory effects, here we got just creepy atmosphere and story, still... oh my...

You uploaded the film this year, I guess the DVD you used was really good, so why didn't you make an effort and use the film in its complete widescreen version? The quality sucks, and a great part of the image is lost.

  • the jerky motion of this upload almost makes it unwatchable. If you're gonna take the time to upload a movie (thank you) as good as this then for gosh sakes do it correctly. The jerkiness really takes alot away from the viewing experience. It gets worse as the installments progress.

  • This is just a solid, amazing chiller!!

  • One of the most amazing horror films ever made.

This film is the essence of horror. Doesn't need CGI effects, doesn't need nudity, sex, or loud mouthed teens. It's not remade, or rehashed.

It's a story. The soundtrack is amazing! The setting, the atmosphere, the climax. EVERYTHING about it is horror.

It's one of the most underrated horror films in history. John Carpenter is a genius

  • @GialloHorror

    I agree with you

  • @GialloHorror - Nothing to add here. Well said!

  • @GialloHorror you got it i absolutely agree !

  • I bought the soundtrack of this movie from Amazon and the opening track is the narrative that you hear from the sadly deceased John Houseman (1902-1988). This is one of the most atmospheric and genre-effective films ever made. It was produced during the pre-'mass production' CGI era, when stunts/effects had to be physically performed by living personnel. If the ghosts came large scale, from an algorithm, they just wouldn't be the terrifying ogres they were ultimately woven into otherwise.

  • Awesome opening!! John Houseman owns this.

  • Did really the story last more 30 minutes??? =$

  • thanks for the upload..i remember watching this as a kid...scared me to death...

  • Thankk you thank youu have been dying to see this for agess :) much appreciateddd !!!!
