Neil has so many "best" songs, it's hard to pick just one.......but this is ONE of my favorites. I told my kids years ago, whether it's appropriate or not, I want Neil Diamond music played at my funeral.
I have loved his songs since I was a teenager......8 tracks and all.....I'm now 60. Neil lasts forever.
@GoddessSeajay I will be 60 on Sept 30th and Neil has been a part of my life & feelings since I was a kid! I know exactly how you feel.I think whatever we want at our funeral is appropriate ,after we have come this far in this crazy world! !
oh my .....lord have mercy..i dont think ive ever heard this................finally have, cuz i wanted 2 hear red rubber ball song by the cyrcle and there it was..neil d sang that song too
I read somewhere that songwriter Ellie Greenwich, of Brill Building fame, was also one of the backup singers on Neil's Bang material. Neil did a lot with 3 chords back then. --JamDanny
One of my favorites Neil, along with about 12 other songs he did... he has alot of kiler songs. The way this song builds towards the end with the backup singers singing "oh oh, oh oh" is awesome.
This song was one of mine and my husband's favorites when we were dating in the late 60's this and Solitary Man.We had it on 8 Track and played it on every date in his 65 Pontiac,in a way it seems like yesterday. Thanks for posting beautiful memories for me.x
@msstevie1951 Geez can I relate to that...never thought finding this song again would have an effect on me, but it does. I have the same story only it was 1970-71 in my ex's parents car...an olds or Pontiac, can't be sure. He even sang part of it to me on one those dates..."I love you so much I can taste it"...best times of our lives.
@tangledinblue2000 Yes, they say music is the sound track of our lives, and it truly is! This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded ♥ Beautiful memories! ♥
fjmbond. I am a BIG Diamond fan and I have to admit you are right. In the 60's and early 70s Neil Diamond was a songwriting god when he was with Bang and UNI/MCA. However, as soon as he signed for CBS/Columbia/Sony he underwent a massive change of direction and one has to wonder if that was at the direction of the label's management. He became horribly MOR. You Don't Bring Me Flowers has a lot to answer for. Thankfully, Rick Rubin has now steered Neil back to his rock and roll roots.
The album shown in the background is Neil's first one, "The Feel of Neil", issued on Bang records in 1966. This song is on this album, but if I recall correctly, the title is shown on the back as "Oh No, No".
Always liked this though it wasn,t all that big a hit. From what David Cassidy says he sang it for his recording audition so it worked for him, too!

this is a great song, but somehow somewhere something went awfully wrong with this Neil Diamond, for his later period is true horror!

This and "Do It" and every other song from his first album are amazing! I snatched a copy of his first LP on Bang for just $4 on vinyl!
