  • Thumbs up if family guy brought you here.

  • Wait...where's the "Heyyyyyy Yooooouuuuu Guuuuyyyyysssss!" ??

  • @Nostalgia2AKA That was started in the second season.

  • Ah, the days when PBS children's programming was like one giant acid trip...

  • I saw family guy and wanted to see if that was just like it, and I was right! Wow! :)

  • Family Guy......lol!

  • as soon as i saw this, i thought of family guy :p

  • this is nothing like the electric company now!

  • the whole cast was on psychedelic drugs...

  • Woah. Morgan freeman was young. Lol.

  • Family Guy! xD

  • That was just as psychedelic as I was expecting it to be. groovy.

  • 10 dislikes?!

  • Morgan Freeman, aka "Easy Reader", future Oscar winner!! No, I don't think Cos knew the words!! And "Anita" from "West Side Story" aka Rita Moreno!! Groovy!!Yeah, I wached all of those educational old PBS shows too!! Can you dig it??

  • that is on familyguy and its so freaking funny!!! lol :)

  • HEY YOU GUUUYS!!

  • this show had an ensemble cast.

  • Cosby doesn't know the words.

  • Rita Moreno was so cute.

  • God, no wonder I'm such a mess now.

  • So 70s. Farout!

  • Humming this song during Hurricane Irene a few weeks ago, hoping the "Electric Company" would bring the power to the surrounding neighborhoods omg....

  • The Electric Company inspired me to create my own Emmy-Award winning children's series, Math Park. Check it out.

  • outside of morgan freeman,,,,whatever happened to the cast?

  • @ivegotalongdong I think Bill Cosby and Rita Moreno managed to make a buck here and there. Seriously, the black woman starred in Roots, the Next Generation. Not sure about the rest. Would cost a few bucks to put that cast back together today!

  • Seth Mcfarlane is about 43 years old so he grew up with this......uh Family Guy!!That's why young ones.

  • Wow!

  • I REMEMBER LOOKING AT THIS IN 2 ND GRADE AT ST RAPHEL SCHOOL IN LOS ANGELES CA...MS SODDER'S CLASS

  • @sierria64 HEY IS THAT MORGAN FREEMAN AND BILL COSBY

  • @sierria64 yup, they were on together for the first 3 seasons. They were both 34 at the time.

  • @sierria64 U R CORRECT!! BILL AND MORGAN ON ONE SHOW, HOW AWSOME IS THAT??

  • Easy Reader was the man!!!

  • One of the best public television children's show ever produced!

  • Geeze, you know times are a changing when the only correlation people have between themselves and old t.v. programming is, "I saw that on Family Guy..." lol.

  • @Christiantodd1 "I saw that on Family Guy..." lol.

  • this was just on family guy. VERY FUNNY!

  • It might be that I'm only 17 but I honestly believed this was thought of by Family Guy

  • What a cast to put on a kids reading show.

  • omg i remember this, they used to let us watch this in school, they would bring the tv set in the room and we watch it

  • It would probably horrify the likes of Al Sharpton and Donald Wildemon to know that Skip Hinnant, one of the Company's cast members was also the voice of Fritz the Cat!!

It was because of his role in the show that Ralph Bakshi hired him to voice that "mother-f***in' cat" in the first place!

  • I never watched this show.

    Was it good?

  • what is this about?

  • Morgan Freeman on the right!

  • that weird morgan freeman dos'nt change at all he looks same in 60's

  • In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer,

  • Best years of my life.. This goes beyond nostalgia..

  • Watched this show in class when I was a kid back in the 70's.

  • @crcracker1 Me too,it was an old T.V. on on a stand that to me was high up there but @ 11:00 a.m. it would come on and after it was over we would go to the cafeteria for lunch.I loved the 1970's as a kid.

  • is that Morgan Freeman and Bill Cosby?

  • They forgot the part that goes "Hey you guys!!" That part's hard to forget.

  • That's just too much scanimation for me...

  • Morgan Freeman got his start on this show.

  • I was in the first grade for season one - they used to light a match right after this sequence and say, "show 1", or 2 or whatever. I loved that!

  • ...when Scanimate was king... I was born too late to see the early versions of this show, and when I was a kid it came on just as I was leaving for school. Awesome stuff, though.

  • @JonasClark Hahahaha wrong. It's out on video. I couldn't resist borrowing the season 1 DVD set from the library. They also have first season Sesame Street. The first episode is a gas. It opens with Gordon coming home from work, briefcase, tanned leather jacket. Comes across a little girl - GET THIS! Realizes she's new and invites her to his place. Oh to be sure, Susan's there and it's on the level. But try that stunt today? You get the cuffs whether you're black OR white.

  • @UglySean Ooh, I MUST see this. And yeah, that was back when people were more trusting. Not to say there weren't creeps back then - just that these days, we've gone from being too lax to too paranoid.

  • you would be suprised i add this to my playlist..

  • cool

  • looks like they are holding the white people hostage.

  • @faustwasfine One of my favourite white people of the time that challenged my six year old sexual orientation was seeing a young blonde boy nicknamed "Buddy", drummer of the Short Circus.

  • We're going to bring you the power!

  • "it will not be bring you the power"

  • Everyday in school we would watch this class when it came on. I never knew it was a regular show. i always thought it was produced on campus or by the school district and shown to us in class from a studio, because there weren't any commercials.

  • Awesome! Yes, I remember watching this too...turning 42 in June!

  • @alisterfolson Awesome! I turned 50 in February! I remember this show so well!

  • @alisterfolson I remember this,too! Was a part of my educational trio(Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers,too)

  • @269848 I wanted to send out fan mail to Mr. Rogers (and Mr. Dressup) in my adult years thanking them for all they did in my youth. In both cases I didnt' get my fanny in motion researching their contact addresses before they died. I did reach Bob Dorough (Schoolhouse Rock) and Commander Tom (news weatherman and children's show extraordinaire from Buffalo New York USA) so there's been some success. Some really do answer email.

  • Awesome!

  • that was the hit back in the days

  • wow. wow. i memba this dude saying on a post up here youtube is like a time machine. ima have to cosign that. this brings back memories. i think ima bout to cry. lol

  • HÉy_ÁÑÿ_gÛÿs_want_tØ_chãt_wÌth_mè

  • Love those cheesy psychedelic 1970's Scanimate video effects!

  • wow thats so modern : D

  • morgan freeman on the electric company.........sweet

  • i miss this song, i used to watch this during my younger days

  • 6 People, contrary to those upleat lyrics, were not brought the power.

  • Oh my god, this is worse than cancer

  • @The1337BBQ I disagree but i found your comment funny

  • This show sucked Big Bird's nutsack.

  • i cannot believe this clip doesnt begin with HEY YOU GUYYYYYYSSSS!

  • so colorful everything was back then

  • soooooooooooooooooooo 70s!!

  • bahahaha, this is pretty psychedelic, I love it.

  • Contrary to those up beat lyrics, the electric company emphasizes they will not be bringing you the power.

  • Great show and great memories!!!!!!

  • I'd also like to say that what the nazis did in terms of social and economic programs was not evil.

It's the whole ethnic cleansing and starting a massive war part that was evil.

I am intrigued by what socialism offers, though I heavily question whether or not it can be sustained in the long term, especially with how lazy most western populations are these days.

Also, check out Morgan Freeman on the far right of the screen :-)

  • "Unfortunately, we will NOT bring you the power."

    *Quahog powers down*

  • Guess Bill Cosby doesn't like to sing much @0:11

  • this is so catchy but its better on family guy

  • this is the only time i ever saw morgan freeman and bill cosby together

  • and people wondered why people did a lot of drugs those days

  • the electric compony will not be bringing you the power.

  • 0:11 check out Morgan Freeman on the far right :-D

  • @able34bravo whaaat???? morgan freemans a nazi?

  • @randypan71 LOL!

Technically, that would be far left. Nazis were socialists :-)

    BEST response EVER though :-D

  • @able34bravo ... Were you trying to make a joke or are you truly that naive? Nazis were fascists, generally considered to be far right in ideology though with some left influences but they were certainly not socialists.

  • @Lupin788

The Nazis used the word "Socialist" in their official name, but that was probably as close to being socialists as they came.

  • @Lupin788 Are we really getting into a socialism debate on a video of the Electric Company?

If we are, then I think both of the people who are saying the nazis were not socialists need to do a little more research on what exactly socialism is in terms of economics and social programs, and then compare it to what the nazis did and didn't do in Germany and Austria.

If not, then I'd like to reiterate, check out Morgan Freeman on the far right of the screen :-)

  • Family guy =D

  • 6 people didn't get the power

  • lmfao wow

  • The 70s were great. You could say merry christmas to your neighbor without offending someone.

  • @drsevrin100 What happened to "Hey you Guuuuuuuuyz! I remember we watched this in class in second grade(1972) Letterman was my favorite...some people were Sesame Street heads I loved the Electric company.

  • @drsevrin100 Amen! Furthermore, all kids today should be forced to watch Blazing Saddles before the age of 7 to rid their minds of the PC poison.

  • Watch Cosby at 0:11. He don't know the lyrics! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • wow haven't seen this since i was like 5!

  • Okay, class, take your mushrooms, it's time to watch The Electric Company!

  • When I was a kid, I felt the show was very funny...

  • oh man, i used to watch this show all the time when i was younger. oh how i miss it.

  • oh man, i used to watch this all the time when i was younger.

  • .. i hated this show.. thats why im watching videos about it...

  • family guy

  • Oh yes I remember this show. Got to reair this and other great classics for kids to see today!

  • My favorite kid show back in the day. I outgrew Sesame Street by the time I was 7 but I NEVER outgrew The Electric Company!

  • Check out Morgan Freeman! Sure looks young. So does Bill Cosby.

  • It's interesting how it was crafted to have the caucasian male as scrawny, with glasses and seemingly out of place.

  • I love this ;D

  • I've many very fond memories of watching this every day, and Morgan Freeman(Easy Reader) was instrumental in my getting a grasp on reading prior 2 my entering kindergarten!

    Timothy

    :o)

  • i went here cause of family guy

  • Welcome back to the 70's...

  • 3-2-1 Contact had somne coolness factors too it as well

  • This was a wonderful show!! I loved it. TV for kids in the 1970's was so fantastic!!

  • i'm vincent the vegetable vampire

  • the 70s ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great memories from my childhood. Now this is a good song and was a great show as a kid.....it left me with great memories. That new updated show sucks. they ruined a classic show.

  • Hey, they showed us reruns of this when I was in 1st grade ... it was great, even better than its big sistr Sesame Street

  • The 70's decade was the coolest ever, period.

  • I loved Morgan Freeman even as a kid...this is awesome

  • My son watches the new show on PBS when he gets the chance, but I love the classic show. Thanks for posting this!

  • Contrary to those upbeat lyrics, the Electric Company would like us to emphasize it will not be bringing you the power.

  • Do you have the intro's to The Righteous Apples and Up and Coming? They were PBS series that ran in the late 70's and early 80's. Thank you in advance.

  • Comment removed

  • Notice that the young Bill Cosby doesn't seem to know the words to the theme song...lol!

  • Forget your lines there, Mr Cosby?

  • This opening's much better!

  • I love it...

  • Who's the blonde guy in the glasses? Like what's his name?

  • @puppetmaker77

That's Skip Hinnant, who played JJ.

  • retrorebirth, you are truly a kindred spirit. Thank U for taking us back to the good ol' days of great TV. lol

  • We are informed that the electric company will not be giving you the power.

  • Bill Cosby literally put zero efforrt into the lip syncing.

  • Some of the people in the series were also on LAUGH-IN!

  • ah brings back memories

  • best opening theme of all time

  • they destroyed it with a rap

  • I love how Bill Cosby pretends but doesnt know any of the lyrics LOL

And why does he look high? :)

  • @sleepymv606 i know i saw him he want singing

  • Ha saw it on family guy

  • @OmegaPirate2 REALLY!? OH MY GOD! YOU MUST TELL THE WORLD!

  • Morgon Freeman...he IS God!

  • Everytime I see this on Family Guy I fall out laughin'!

  • ATTN llebrew:

Please let me know when you finally get to see the Electric Company skit you appeared in. (Remember: third episode on disc 1, volume 1!)

  • I always wanted to see the seventies, but the 80s and 90s...God bless 'em they will be missed :(

  • I don't care who knows it! I was 11 when "Electric Company" debuted and I watched it anyway! It was far better than most shows for kids were back then. It's so cool to see Morgan Freeman and remember that he was on this show. A far cry from his breakout 1980's role in "Street Smart" (he played a pimp). Every so often, "Family Guy" will reference this show and I wish PBS would start showing the old "Electric Company" episodes again.

  • @elc1960

I was around the same age. I think of cool show like this for kids...and look at the evil crap that our kids are being forced to watch now.

    Sad.

  • @ThoughtTraveler Apparently, NOGGIN showed reruns of "EC" for a while; no idea whether they still do because I don't make a habit of monitoring basic cable channels geared to pre-schoolers (besides, I think "Dora" and "Diego" are Satan's own spawn - just kidding). The " evil crap" era began in the '80s with "G.I. Joe", "Transformers" and "The Smurfs" (cartoons STARRING toys instead of just selling them) and continues to this day.

  • Contrary to these upbeat lyrics we would like to emphasize that the electric company will NOT be bringing you the power.

  • HEEEEY YOOOOOOOOOUU GUUUUUUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Even though I was a child of the 80s, (born in 1976) I was blessed to be able to watch this in reruns on PBS for years. One of the biggest educational influences of my childhood and I'm glad I had it. Unlike today's kids who'll never know the joy of Easy Reader because of political correctness.
