Almost all major failures in the last 30 years are directly related to Solid rocket boosters. Just look at Delta II, Titan IV, and Shuttle Challenger. You will save yourself a lot of headache by making a pure liquid fueled rocket and forget about SRB's. The United States might make a big mistake if they start using Ares1 rather than Falcon9.

I fully expect India to have successful 25kt Delta Heavy class lifter in 30 years. that's after she 4 X her GDP with balanced economic composition. lower her poverty under 10%. limit her population growth. country's infrastructure can't run at 100% line, in fact, nothing can sustain constant 100% load, that behavior has to change. Failure of 5 out of 7 GSLV launches tells me ISRO is rushing this project. space program can't afford "Great Leap Forward"

Chinese CZ-4B 2500kg class rocket program started at 1989, first launch was 1999. at that time, chinese already has 30 years ongoing space program with their SSBN in water, JL1 SLBM tested.

this is a serious business that takes decades + % of your GDP to achieve. can't rush result.

xmas's GSLV structure broke under load, why India run their rocket at 100% capacity? it's not a train.

space program takes time and resource. India is pushing their program too hard. same Chinese program of 2000kg class CZ-4 rocket took 15 years and dozens of launches to mature, India is trying to complete in 5 years.

also Chinese and US Rocket takeoff weight is 50% of GSLV while lifting similar payload, that means their rocket propellent and engine is very much advanced. India had late start compare to RU/US/CN, it's very costly to rush.

consider country has 25% poverty rate.

I mm a Pakistani engineer. I just want to say that i really feel sorry for the team coz such a faliure bring alot of disappointment n depression. but what i appriciate is that indian r investing in technology, n wish the team best of luck. Us Pakistanies just gave a very traditional responce to this failure, given the tensions between our countries, but i always appriciate good efforts by anyone, and faliure is the path to sucess.

Launches has always been dangerous. Every space-race nation had lost a rocket/shuttle or two. At least no one lost their lives this time, hopefully the next one is going to be better!
