I think the reason I like niandra lades is because while a lot of the singing is as some have said, bad, the album is trippy and eerie and is a pure expression of unfiltered emotion. That sounds pretty pretentious but basically what I'm saying is that the music sounds very real and visceral to me.
@Udovica69 Well, if we are talking about this live performance, then it isn't the best. But on the CD it sounds much better. A lot of his work off his early albums sound like poetry to me. The ones where he screams and sounds like he is in pain aren't for everyone, but for some reason I like them. Like the song "Enter a uh" is hard to listen to at first, but it definitely gets better. At least to me.
@Udovica69 I think many of us like the simplicity and passion of his early work. As he progressed and got clean, his work has become more complicated and electronical (Don't know if this is a word, lol). It is just preference. I think the melodies of his early work is beautiful.
THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED THIS ALBUM. Apparently the manufacturer has discontinued Niandra. I am shattered. Now that i feel like i'm finally ready to own this album, they stop making it, and u have to buy it second hand for $70 on amazon.com.
I have directed a few Frusciante fans to Niandra Lades: they all come up with the same response; disgust. It's a pity, because it is so beautiful and needs to be listened to as a whole to appreciate it as it is; a piece of at. Never mind, one day I'll get them into it.
This is a pure expression of emotion. The man was sick and it showed from the way he looked, to the way he talked, to the way he played guitar. That is why this is brilliant rmcbride315. Because this is real.

Am I losing my mind? Does anybody even notice this is quite possibly the most horrible performances from anybody in the history of man? Is he tripping his balls off or something? So bad it's it's hilarious.
I totally and utterly agree with you. Niandra and Smile are two completely incomprehensible pieces of art that will never be replicated. Perhaps that's what makes them so beautiful?
I agree somewhat as well, and it makes me a bit sad that I'll never be able to see one of the old shows like in Amsterdam, but at the same time I can look forward to his new album.
i think music will be never as good as on that album version... what the feelings right after "i walked forever sightseeing the screen" give away... i connect the most beautiful and sad moments with that in my life... hope someday there will come a day for mankind where people look in general back to this point and say beauty in its perfection and they dont just see a human on drugs and then they could finally see how little they are and how much they could learn from this amazing Person
I would consider everyone who listends to this performans to the end a Frusciante Fan. All others have stopped early.

John played in viper room in 1993 ,the night river died.
that was John`s first show.
he only performed "Life`s a bath"

I agree. Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-shirt and then Smile from the streets you hold are my 2 favorite John albums.
After that is either To Record Water for Only 10 days or his work on the Brown Bunny Soundtrack or his internet release The Sounds Inside.
