@ thehomefront...if they were not in this enclosure they would be hanging from a farmers side barn...we are fighting laws right now to protect these beautiful animals and need to make sure they are not on the extinct list...Wolf Park is a conservation and study sector...a must need to continue preservation and action on these animals.
In most cases, I agree that wolves should not be in captivity, but Wolf Park Is a very unque place that I am proud to call my passion, check out my channel for info
Me and my family went there a few weeks ago! My sister really loves wolves and we went there as a birthday present for her. She's sponsoring one of the wolves there named Wotan, he's her favorite :D
Did you know that the Wolf Park Staff are taking care of wolf pups?
This is definately not agresion, this is misstaken for agresion and wolves get bad reputation because of this. Its all wrong, this is a normal wolf pack behaviour, they are just making sounds and moves to remind every one of their position in the pack, so this is necesary and completly normal. No need to be worried
@animalsshouldlive Right. As the title of the video states, it's dominance behavior. If a wolf in the park expressed true aggression, I'm sure they would be separated from the rest of the pack. I don't know what "it's all wrong" you're referring to.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! i go here every year on my birthday!!!! wolfgang is my favorite of the wolves because they let me pet him when he was a little pup!! I CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN!!!!!!!
fucking cruel, its like watching lions in a circus, these wolfs have no way out and nothing to let of some steam, wolfs need the challenge of killing for food and yet this place give them there meat all cut up, these wolfs are acting so unnatural compared to how they would act in the wild.
Wolfpark is something of a special case. Actually, they allow the wolves to act out most of the hunting/chasing pattern with their resident herd of bison. But when the bison circle up, the wolves are stalemated, then brought back into their own (huge) enclosure. The purpose of the park is to learn more about wolves, and show the public that wolves are not creatures to be feared and exterminated.
I would encourage you to email the Wolf Park staff with your concerns. And learn how to spell.
@thehomefront You have everything wrong thehomefront. This is an animal preserve not a zoo. There are differences. This gives them the feeling and chance to act like real wolves instead of being in a glass enclosure. The humans actually can interact with them from the other sides of the gate and do not tease them. There are differences and you need to acknowledge those or you can get alot of contraversy because of that comment you posted
In a normal wolf family, the animals are permitted to disperse. While wolf park is a nice concept, these poor animals do not have the opportunity to disperse, and are forced to live in units that are very unnatural. Dispersal is a big part of how wolves live, and denying them that leads to constant displays of aggression one wouldn't see in a normal wolf pack in the wild. I would NOT use any information gleaned in a wolf prison, no matter how nice it is, to learn about how wolves ordogs are
It's nice to get a comment that isn't spam. The way I understand it, the staff realize that just by virtue of interacting with the wolves they've compromised the 'purity' of any results they may get. The hope is that not all pack behavior will be affected, so there's still something to learn. Also, this is a sanctuary, not a prison. I'd much rather these wolves be alive and in cramped quarters than dead. While some may say that's selfish, none of us can know the wolves' opinion.
@Animapantherkat The park is larger then you think. It is also in an area of their Natural Habitation. They have the pens you've seen in these videos just for the use of teaching the public. So the wolves do have the opportunites to roam. Take one of their tours especially on horseback and you'll see the full extent of the park. I know because I LIVE here.
@Animapantherkat Although your comment : I'd much rather these wolves be alive and in cramped quarters than dead. Is true, The wolves opinon would probably be to enjoy life. Think about it. If you were tortured and told you were worthless and mocked your whole life, you would just want to be put to rest, away from the pain and hurt you were brought all your life.
I do get what you're saying, but I wanted to let you know that when things got heated up in the main pack a couple years ago that WP did do some pack restructuring for the safety of the wolves involved and relocated some to different areas of the park. My first visit was a bit intense due to the dynamics; I returned the year after they were reorganized and things were a lot calmer and the wolves a lot happier. My visit this time was much more enjoyable. ...
um YIKES I'd be peeing myself if I was in that cage and they were growling at eachother like that. I can just see my entire arm being ripped off :S I find these videos helpful when trying to determine why my dog acts certain ways. Is it normal for the alpha to dominate over one member so much? It seems they get it and are submitting but the alpha keeps persisting. I thought alpha leaders were "fair" which is why we aren't supposed to yell at our dogs. This behaviour does not seem fair to me.
They may have been a very new pack. The leader usually only persists like that when establishing a role for the first time. It didn't look like just a reminder to me. I think that the Alpha was either welcoming a new member and teaching him/'her their place.
Wow do they do this frequently?? Because they seem like they are a little uncontrolled the wolves jumping on the guy and stuff and instead of grabbing the paw the guy just shrugged the wolf off that's cool, but I still think the wolves need better care I love this place though!!!!!!
They do seem to tussle pretty roughly with the humans, but the staff have learned how to shrug them off. As for needing better care, I have a hard time imagining wolves better treated in captivity. The pack has a very large area to roam.
Hold the fucking camera still, jeeze.

@thehomefront . Come visit the park. And you'll see they'll give a carcas of a cow or bison for them to act out their predatory nature.
