We apparently had the same LP and I remembered it as did you, finally finding Yeats and the Host of the Air. God bless you and keep you for the reading of it.
Great reading of a great poem...I, also remember it from the Clancy Brothers...who,when they first came overseas, did a lot of musical/drama stuff... Tommy Makem also did similar stuff...do you remember him reading a snippet of Joyce's Ulysses ? But as to the "host of the air"....its' vivid imagery would make for a great painting, I've always felt...a collage of all the dreams...very introspective it makes one...and I don't have to tell you that...your reading communicates that quite well!!
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment. No, I am sorry to say I do not remember hearing Tommy reading from Joyce's Ulysses, but I do remember the introduction to Tim Finnegan's Wake which threatened to read the whole book.....:-)) I have myself used that intro to the song on a couple of occasions.
Sorry....you are quite right ..it was from Finnegan's Wake .".He built a wallwork of a structure... Thoroughly originating from next to nothing"...I did see Tommy do The Cobbler song complete with the stitching and spitting @ a local CBC taping.. just incredible..the rhythm of the song bing integrated by both...and at wee hours at too many bars I did similar imitations...and often felt I could make most folks cry with" Will you go oh lassie go"...but at those late hours it's dubious as to why!!

Fantastic reading. You have a great reading voice. It's soft and interesting and I like your Manx accent :)

Oh, and there's an Irish tune (a reel) called Never Was Piping So Gay. I guess the name came from this poem.

Thanks Dave, that's very flattering.
