  • @benloe3..."The Goat" Episode.

  • ONE OF THE BEST WALTER JUBLUNTSKI' S SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!

  • Background song on a show on Miami Vice.

  • Nona Hendryx was the queen of the NYC club scene during the early 80's. Caught her show at the Paradise Garage, The Ritz (currently Webster Hall),and the China Club (currently under construction as another Condo). To those of us in our twenties- then, she was "old and sexy" for she was in her forties. Club goers quickly learned upon withessing her show, that age was just a number.

  • oops typo...through and through. Thanks Larry for getting her there for the affair!

  • I saw her t the PARADISE GARAGE too! AMAZING I was entranced! Beautiful woman - very talented. The profundity of these lyrics are true through anf through! Love her...

  • Credit to Carol & Kevin from Rough Trade. Never could get enough of them, but I love this tune, still have the vinyl. Listen to it went I get 'alternated'.

  • ;D

  • First heard this song on a Miami Vice episode called "Tale of the Goat." Clarence Williams III played a voodoo cult leader named Legba.

  • @JDMack1062

I first encountered this mystical song on MV as well! Great tune for a great show!

  • hopefully, she´s inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame! genius songwriter!

  • YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DYNOMITE

  • cool dj red alert billy bang tompkins pjs

  • cool dj red alert

  • My first session at Counterpoint was the early version of this material. It was too much for the public but blew us away. Later while at RPM I bumped into Nona while she was cutting this tamer version. 28 years later it's still strong!

  • SHE IS DEFINITELY AN ORIGINATOR IN HER FIELD. POWERFUL...REAL! AND SO FUCKING HOTT!!

  • dope bass line, Nona was on top here

  • This album was surely one of her major efforts. Nona is on her way to 70. Wish we'd hear some more from her.

  • legba returns!! miami vice's "Tale of the goat" episode, with Clarence Willams III as legba, and this track in the background...classic!!!

  • @shaba3961 i remember that episode. dec 85. there was a homicidal midget in legbas gang

  • Miami Vice episode #029 : "Tale Of The Goat"

  • @kd4adv Great Episode and Song

  • Now This I had to listen to at high.

    This song kicks ass

    The Best..... Look ...Look again

We all come from the same DNA

    Two cells to make you

Its beyond your and my wildest Imagination

So hop on for the ride!!!

  • @CesMan83 Hunt around, with the right software you can "save" this file's audio and put it on your ipod, etc.

  • I remember the Miami Vice and I was so happy they played this song

Listen to the song for it is Life!

  • as a kid, i remember hearing this on an episode of miami vice.

  • thanx alex2009j i could'nt remember who sung this song.this takes me way back to junior high.

  • This is truly my absolute favorite song in its genre of all time. This song is so spiritual, about all of our lives through all of time, all of our karma, how we are One...and has SO MUCH SOUL. And God can Nona sing.

  • @CesMan83 Im still trying to find this single too. I loved this song Im surprised no other artist remade this single.

  • @1sotrue What do you mean? Mic Geronimo's "Nothing Move But The Money" completely samples this song. By the way, are any of you guys a bit frightened of that "OOOOOO" sound that plays throughout both songs? <=(

  • this was my song !

  • Nona was HOT! HOT! HOT! in the gay bars in the 80's! Now the bars don't even support gay artists............they're too busy playing that hetero Hip-Hop crap. So much for moving forward.

  • I never knew who did this song, but I clearly remember hearing it for the first time like 20 years ago. This has to be the first time I've heard it in 20 years. Very nice groove. Thanx for posting

  • Well Grace Jones was the prototype to this artist. Remembering ms Jones the stuff did with Dunbar and Shakespear at compass point studios Nassau Bahamas.

  • @massrepeat Nonsense. Nona was in Labelle years before anyone heard of Grace Jones. I happen to like Grace Jone's image, but Labelle was wearing space suits, flying in from the ceilings, since the early 70's. Even Kiss and Parliament co-opted Labelle's outrageous

  • Credit has to go to Kevin Staples & Carole Pope from Rough Trade for this.

  • I have this on my I-pod. Takes me back to the summer of 1983.

  • @weezerz Me too! Radio was so "bad" then. Remember Rocket by HHancock, and the breakdance mixes that summer? They were so fun.

  • It's Nona Hendryx, Patti Labelle and Sarah Dash

  • the sound reminds me of Janelle Monae.

  • @LouWeEv7 I like Janelle Monae too but trust me Janelle's Sound emulates Nona's, many other artist from the 80's and before.

  • A TRUE TO HEART MASTERPIECE!!

i keeps this in several ipod playlist.

    This is Patti's former partner.

    I always thought she was a freak..lol

and i mean that in the best way.

    I love this sister.

  • @mccoy1303 there were three weren't there? Nona, Patti, and ? not Grace was it?

  • we're just transformations,

    variations,

    alternations

    deviations

    Mother Nature rules us all

  • roseland nyc when this came the freaks would hit the dance floor then it was on if you know what i mean

  • @SuperJingo1 Then things would really get off the chain at Paradise Garage!!! Had to watch Friday nights tho!

  • @ccverve Are you talking about the PARADISE GARAGE in NYC?!? That place was the bang! I only went on Wednesday nights, and just hearing the name brings back some pretty cool memories! I also saw the Erythmics' "Sweet Dreams(Are Made Of This)" video there for the first time, if I recall correctly... That was the joint!

  • @sapphyre7 I speak of the one and only!! Everytime someone tells me "You're outta your mind!" I think of how they may be correct...Paradise Garage was a mind altering experience..never experienced another club quite like it!!

  • A classic!

It sucks that it's out of print.

  • @mwhite36 She had a greatest hits album released in 1999(?) .

  • Oh this beat is sexy!

  • i think alix perez samples the "whooo" in his track crown city?

  • Cash your check and change your sex.

  • So fierce.

  • This is HOT!!!

  • Nona Hendrix show stopping JAM!!!

  • Valeu Alex2009j, a qualidade do áudio está excepcional. Nona Hendrix é foda!!!

  • @sprinthawk32. season 2 of miami vice with clarence williams 3 starring..awesome.

  • Classic Fire Jam!!!

  • Me @ Traxx NYC (1983) in Nona Hendryx heaven!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding!!!

  • Wonderful song. I heard this first time on Miami Vice, voodoo episode- "Tale Of The Goat". I get goosepumps every time i listen to this!

  • @MrFiveeasypieces i heard it before that episode and i seen it im like damn but i love it and i have been trying to find that episode of miami vice.

  • @MrFiveeasypieces

I remember that too! In fact, I think they were walking around an empty pool, in the dark, at an abandoned house. Spooky episode, and this song went perfectly with the episode and that scene.
