I was at this gig, June '93 at Milton Keynes Bowl other acts on the day were The Almighty, Megadeth and Metallica. It was great seeing Diamond Head play again, they were one of the bands in the NWOBHM that really should have made it big.

I pointed out, with the Hendrix/Dylan metaphor, that covering someone else's music does NOT automatically assume that you sound like that original artist.

That WAS your implication, as indicated by the use of the phrase "of course".

That's because Diamond Head influenced Metallica and many other 80's metal bands. You can see a lot of songs by Diamond Head that were covered by the popular metal bands.
