Wonderful song; that Barbra thought would be perfect as a theme for Looking For Mr Goodbar , and she is singing the story again. Would have used images from her dramatic movies to go with this song. but kudos my friend...
BARBARA TRYS TOO HARD TO BE FUNNY IN THIS..THIS MOVIE IS BORING AND LAME...WHAT A WASTE OF WHITMAN MAYO...IT STARTED PROMISING THAN IT PUT ME TO SLEEP.
Her voice is divine, her interpretation is magical since as she calls herself she's alway been a singing actress,, hence her singing comes from the depth of her soul and is stressed by the creativeness of her mind.
Love this song.... and Barbra's performance is superb. The writer is Kim Carnes (remember Bette Davis Eyes), and it is from Kim's Sailin' album (1976).
The lyrics...the vocals...the music...and BARBRA...ahhhhhhh...this song takes me places...unexpected places...thank you for posting!! Soooooooo beautiful....
how sad that "grai" is so shallow that he/she cannot see past the superficial to examine the work! How would you feel if you were turned down for a job based solely on your "looks"? You should be ashamed of yourself! You should be so thankful that you live in a time where Streisand does as well...her gifts are timeless and we will never see it again!
In bars that thrive on loneliness, where people sell their sorry for your time, they take the love that they can find, and if love takes them in. Man, that line gets me as much as it did back then, and so true.
Your right & wrong. This is the second half of Barbra's singing career. The half where she wanted to appeal to a younger audience. Popularity wise she was a smash, artistically not as much as the first half. The first half was the unbelieveable, incredible, unstoppable Streisand, artistically brilliant & popular as well, but more with a middle of the road crowd. If you look at her earlier work it is simply stunning & spellbinding, an original, no one like her.

Forgettable tripe. She sure has recorded a ton of junkaroo, hasn't she? Sure, she can make drivel sound pleasant, except she has recorded the likes of Arlen, Gershwn, Nyro and others of this ilk, so this kind of unmemorable nonsense does zilch for her career.
One of my favourite Streisand tracks....hauntingly beautiful.....I was given the 'Superman' album for my 18th birthday....having fallen in love with 'the voice' a year earlier after seeing 'star is born'...I'm now 49 and still love this......
I love this song very much! this is one of my favorite song. I feel like im flying upon hearing this song. streisand is really the best! all the existing divas are only 2nd best compare to her. Barbra Streisand is truly the divas diva. nothing can compare to her in singing!!!
Barbra Streisand is one of a rare few who can sing anothers hit song with clarity and equal passion, like its as if she was the original singer, . . but most of her songs are difficult to sing, especially if one does not have a rare and beautiful voice like hers.
If you want to hear another great rendition of this great song look at the one of Jose Feliciano - it is different his own style - gentle, subtle and simple but full of emotions
ThisSong Should be Rived!! Seriously.. It is a Beautiful Classic.. Really Really Good.. Will Go to #! Just Perfect Pitch.. She Touches My Heart! My All Time Favorite My Idol.. Love HER! This is Why she's the Best in the Universe!!
"Love Comes From Unexpected Places" was written by Kim Carnes and her husband Dave Ellingson. Kim recorded in 1976 (Sailin' album) and the song won the American Song Festival and Tokyo Song Festival.
Streisand recorded it for Superman album (1977) and she wanted this song on her movie "Looking For Mr. Goodbar". Barbra would recorded others 2 Carnes' songs: "Stay Away" (Songbird album) and "Make No Mistake, He's Mine" (duet with Kim Carnes - from Emotion album).
Beautiful video, Main Event was one of my favourite films. Love the song to, thanks for sharing.
