I admire the man for his nerve of heights, but just dont like him for his inability to understand his kids. For him his family seem to come second? I guess its a northen way of life ?
I had a row with her on Ashton market.....She deliberately wound me up so I had a go back, and when I realised who she was, I almost fainted! We ended up having a good laugh. John's a proper dapper chap; he used to walk up Bow Street too.
Howw many of us leave the worrld abetter place for us being in it, His engines will still be working in hundreds of years, He lived to work, loved his work, and worked to live, he had a pride in what he did. A real pride. An inspiration to us all.
im from liverpool and do me a favour lads, when you find the bastards that ransacked his home.get a steeplejack and take him up a chimey.watch him piss his pants and send him home to mummy sayin DID HE NOT LIKE THA xx

What can you say about Fred Dibnah? He was Fred Dibnah a unique and much missed guy. Typical lancashire guy no airs and graces just a wonderful guy Passionate about what he did . RIP Fred and god Bless !
A top, proper man. Talented, true & strait. Did more in his life than many would do if they had 10 lives. RIP Fred, you don't wanna be resting, but be assured, you were an inspiration to those left behind.
I was building stands at the Classic Bike Show at the old Belle Vue Exhibition hall a few days before it opened, and after me & the guys had finished work we rolled a ball of brown tape & bubble wrap into a football & started a kickabout. Fred was there because he knew the event organiser and proceeded to run into the melee, kicking the ball in any and every direction like a madman. Eventually we made him sit down because he'd gone a disturbing shade of purple & we thought he was going to die.
One of my mum's friends knew Fred very well, and my nan met him loads of times, he was a real hero from the day he was born to the day he died he never gave up even in his fight against cancer.
We can all learn from Fred he was a good teacher as well as a fantastic steeplejack.
A fitting tribute for a local hero (yes, I'm a Bolton lad too, in fact I was in the same year at Canon Slade as Fred's daughter Jane). He is very sadly missed. He had a unique talent to bring his enthusiasm about all things engineering across on the screen without being patronising or boring. We shall never see his like again.....
Fred was a great man, will always remember him :) Ill also always agree with him that the human race has seen better days indeed, the age of steam was an age that should never of gone :/
I loved the five penny piece, grew up listening to their music. I wounder if you have all their songs. Please post "My Brother Salvest" if you have it.
hes a 1 of a kind man combining steam engines , chimneys ,the victorian era 'ect' i will never forget the day he died and in 2003 i met him, rip Fredric Dibnah up on that great chimney in the sky.
I never met the man but as this record say's he was a straight forward lancashire lad and i'm sure he would have spoken to anyone who met him , he was a great charachter and the family he left behind must be extremely proud of him .
Fred was a one off , love watching his shows , he had some bottle aswell climbing those chimneys on those ladders , sadly missed you will not see many like him again .
