I just watched the video. I think that is such a touching tribute! Ruthin is really a wonderful place too. So pretty. Tom Pryce must have made the town so proud! As a F1 fan, thank you for uploading this wonderful tribute to an almost forgotten Welsh sportsman. I hope to come there one day to see the plaque and the town.
This may sound stupid, but I don't want to watch this in case they show the crash. It made me sick. I hope it doesn't show it. R.I.P Tom Pryce and Jason Van Vuuren. :) Buddha Bless you both and may you be happy in your new lives. :)
@ArtificialRed1083 Remember why the guy ran onto the track. It was his job to offer emergency assistance and fire suppression. In his mind he was doing his job. He just wasn't well trained at it, but he was given the responsibility anyway.
The kid made a rookie mistake. He wasn't perfect, and neither are you. We all have faults. What all drivers and track marshals accept as part of the job is the possibility that someone else's mistake might get them killed. They accept that.
@ArtificialRed1083 A memorial to a person's life is a powerful thing. I think it should be about the person and the positives in that person's life. I don't see any place in a memorial for finding fault or placing blame. Everyone who cares enough about Tom Pryce to see the plaque already knows how he died. Imagine you were one of van Vuuren's parents, and you wanted to pay your respects to Tom. How would you feel about yet another message of blame concerning your own dead son?
I wish they had worded the plaque differently, in a way that doesn't blame the young, inadequately trained track marshal. Regardless of who was responsible, the van Vuuren family cannot visit the memorial and pay their respects to the other person who died with their son that day without reading that it was their son who ran into Tom Pryce, not Tom Pryce who ran into van Vuuren.
A memorial plaque should remember Tom, and not imply the kid's responsibility, even if he was responsible.
Dear Sir or Madam, As you prefer to 'hide' behind the anonymity of rhydwen100 on YouTube. I don't know your gender. The video was a response to my own 'political' video (see link above) 'Criticising' our Prestatyn Town Council for the failure to present our own town for the tourist trade. This version was for the memory of Tom as you should know is being honourer in Ruthin.
rhydwen100 original 'message.' Mr. Bourne, you are such a hypocrite. Those flowers have nothing to do with Thomas Pryce. stop criticising our wonderful Welsh towns.
Please criticise my political videos. Not those in memory of others.
Thanks for posting this nice tribute. I've been in Ruthin last april, and it's really touching that he's still so well remember by a lot of people. Dino from Venezia - Italia
