hey can anyone tell me if i install ubuntu through wubi can i delete windows afterwards ?? i mean if i want ubuntu only forgetting abt windows can i do that??
@Meganekko07 That's to do with your own Internet Router setup, nothing I can help you with there, try going to the router settings, manual or handbook.
@RATSCALLION129 okay, well i have another question actually, i've successfully installed ubuntu on my windows 7 starter, but the wireless won't work, i've enabled it, but it says wireless not ready, any idea? i used ubuntu 11.04 natty narwhal
how do you uninstall it. i want to reinstall, but first i need to uninstall. it's an option to dual boot on startup, but I'm only able to access the demo version so i want to uninstall then reinstall.
BTW: I have a difficult question: I installed ubuntu with wubi, and wubi installed ubuntu on the wrong HDD, it had to install it on a 1 TB HDD, but it was installed on an other strange place. Does anyone know how i can change the install directory to that 1TB HDD? T.I.A. please answer soon, because i cant enjoy ubuntu because there's no diskspace, so i can't install drivers so i can enable those cool 3D effects :P
As for your question... You're probably going to have to uninstall it from that (using the add/remove programs utility in Windows) and then reinstall.. Noting that when you install on one of the first steps the 'Install Directory,' and change that appropriately. Good luck :)
this is what happens i install it fine then the updates then when i restart i get this sh:grub> and i don't know what to type help please i am using ubuntu 9.10
Hmmmm... Odd.. I think it might be a kernel error (the updates). Try restarting, when the "Press esc to do something" comes up, press escape. Boot into any non-recovery kernels. Whichever one works, just keep using esc -> boot into that until there's a new kernel. If none of that works, re-install and don't update. Though the boot into different kernel *should* work.
I must say, very informative :) And great presentation too. I probably will install Ubuntu tomorrow :D as i now know much better how to do it using Wubi.
I do have wubi installer. Now here is my problem. When I do go through the installation, everything runs okay except when it reboots it goes through the second installation and then it takes forever at about 95%, trigger something it says. it just stays at 95 % for a very long time. Do I have to be connected to the internet or could you give me some advice on how I can fix this problem?
Ok.. That's really odd... You don't need to be connected to the Internet to install.. You need to have Internet access in some form once you try to update, but that's about it, and it doesn't do that until you tell it to.
It does take quite some time, especially at the later points, I'd advise just waiting.. How long have you waited before you've given up? Oh and what's your RAM?
WHEN I AM DOWNLOADING WEBI OR SOMETHIN IT TAKES ME 1 HOUR LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Thanks! By the way, I recommend, if possible downloading ANYTHING from the official site instead of a 3rd party, they can do ANYTHING to it.

You shouldn't need to.. try just booting into it again. If you can't, then by all means do so.

Welcome to Ubuntu! You'll probably be wanting the latest version as opposed to that that's used in this video. This one's 9.04, the new one's 9.10.

I already got the ISO burned(9.10), going to install now i think ;)

How much space of HDD does ubuntu use?
1337scape 2 years ago
As much as you want it to use. There is a minimum requirement of about 5GB ish, but you can go higher if you wish.
