I raced an e46 m3 from 20ish to 130, I couldn't pass him but he couldn't pull away in the slightest, both stock.
E46 I would say is same level, however e92 is a different kettle of fish! Get a remap done and then you would have a good race, but I wouldn't imagine my 135 would take an e92 m3 in all honesty, but atlesst unlike any m3 driver Ive met, I could

If anything, it should have been a really close race, with the 135i edging slightly. 0-60 for a 135i is 4.7 as tested and published in motor trend. I have a 2011 135i and have beat a 370z, an early 2000 Cadillac CTS, a new automatic Camaro SS, a slightly modded STI, etc. These were all from a roll though, not off a line.

you guys are forgetting the turbo on the135i, you could clearly see the boost at 0:48 secs, i own e92 and i always come in contact with 335, 550 or 135 trying to race and out all of them the 135 launches quickly. the only way i smoke 135 easily is over 65mph, or else its a challenge 0-60
not making excuses, but the M3 had a crappy launch. if you go back and look at the revs, the 135 was at (near) 3k and the M3 was starting at 2k rpm. i've been in a 2009 M3 and it can def launch alot better. both very nice vehicles.
M3's not only have relatively small amounts of torque, their torque band is nowhere near as broad and widespread across the rev range as the 135i. Not to mention, the 135i has more torque to boot, and weighs less. So im not surprised it won.
:) I made 13.18 with my 135i and only AFE intake and chip was needed... 30min modification. You can watch my movie you will see. Toyota supra with 480HP engine and porsche 997T beat me but come on i burned much less gas :) Next time i will improve my exhaust then i will burn even this supra. He had 13.12 :)

No. There's no way in he'll that a 135i is only 0.4 seconds slower. The m3. Is rated at 4.6sec On the site and BMW underates there cars. The 135 is a great car and I drove one, but the m3. Has. Over 100 more hp not to mention an //M tuned engine and Almost 100 mire foot lbs. If torque. Do get ur facts right bud. Ino BMW. My dad was a sales man for BMW a few years back And we have 4 bimmers
The M3 torque spread is not as wide as that of the 135i's torque spread so torque peak is not very relevant for acceleration.
Dont forget that 100kg makes a huge difference, I have seen many videos where the winner in a straight line 400m run between theses two cars is down to the drivers.
@KonaStinkyRid3R It's completely possible. You're heavily underestimating the 135i. With a good driver, you can get to 60mph in less than 5 seconds. Hell, the thing is lighter and even has more torque than an M3.

@KonaStinkyRid3R where the hell do you get an M3 will do 0-100 in 4.1? are you dropping it off a hill or something? realistically an M3 will do 0-100 in about 4.9 and a 135i in about 5.3 seconds. but most 135i's have plug and play mods, for instance my fathers, and that 135i chomps M3 after M3 after M3. I will admit an M3 is a much better track car though. The 135i has inferior braking and suspension systems.
I have an e92 and honestly, the off the line speed is not that good due to the relatively low torque (around 300ish). So the 135 is so much lighter and would have similar 0-100 times. But once it's higher speeds and the e92 hits 3rd of 4th, it would really leave everything in the dust.
also, IMHO, the 135, as fast as it is, will always look like you couldn't afford a proper bmw.

Black boxes are no good for the 3.0 liter turbo engine, they send false values to the computer. better to chip the ecu for safer tuning and even more power..

The difference is not on the rpms or the weight or etc. My guess is they are draging higher above sea level and NA engines won´t perform as well as turbo engines at higher altitudes.

twin turbos rock add a chip and you are almost at m3 stock power for less then a grand do the math........ M3 is awsome car and would pick that over anything but not when it cost almost 25 k more then the 135i. For 25K you can make the 135i a real race car where stock m3 couldn't even compare.

Not true. The M3 will still eat up that 135, tuned or not around the track. I suggest you look up dinan 335i tuned which was 500HP 450 torque and still got beat around the track by the e92 M3.
Also, being that you are a 135 owner, you'd know the 135i has atrocious braking compared to the M3.

i agree those are some really lame drag times. (if they were truly doing a 1/4 mile) Road & Track and car & driver magazines got around 12.3 or so in the 1/4 for the M3. and i believe a 13.2 for the 135i

the e46 M3 even got 12.9 when launched perfectly at sea level in cooler temperatures. i admit that there will be a variation in 1/4 mile time slips between the new E92 M3. but what i'm referring to is the car being driven by a professional at sea level, with good traction and temperatures below 60f.
If you ever watched Bestmotoring, in one of the episodes, the guy in the video admits hes crap at shifting. If this was a serious test they should have let the racing drivers like Tsuchiya test it instead. Yes I can drive a stick but not as good as you EUROSPEC. grow up
Don't forget, the 135i will hold peak HP longer than the E92 M3. It has more torque than the M3, earlier. The M3 is a very nice car, but it is like driving a 6 cylinder version of a S2000 or RSX-S. High-strung engine which will only hit peak HP at redline. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have an M3 over a 135i any day of the week, but the numbers aren't surprising. Throw a tune and some bolt-ons on a 135i, and you have an 11 second car, if you have the tires to put that kind of power down.
well if "ching chong chu" means "this 135 is bone stock and not chipped" in english then i agree. but since i don't know what "ching chong chu" means I will assume BMW did not make the $40,000 135 faster than a $90,000 M3 from the factory.

135i : 5.00kg/hp 6.24kg/mm tire
which gives the M3 a 29% power/weight advantage here ... and a small traction advantage (not significant though)
i135 just had a better driver / launch / gear change
(typically for these tests, you need to run 3-5 times each car, and switch driver, then look at the data)

I actually own one and at the best of time the best 0-60 time I have registered is 4.7.
Conditions were warm so were the tires plus premium gas which makes a massive difference.

I have an e92 and honestly, the off the line speed is not that good due to the relatively low torque (around 300ish). So the 135 is so much lighter and would have similar 0-100 times. But once it's higher speeds and the e92 hits 3rd of 4th, it would really leave everything in the dust.
also, IMHO, the 135, as fast as it is, will always look like you couldn't afford a proper bmw.

And as far as the 1 series handling goes, its suspension was done by the M division so it has to have good handling!! Check all the major car mags!!!

Black boxes are no good for the 3.0 liter turbo engine, they send false values to the computer. better to chip the ecu for safer tuning and even more power..

Most AMG are just power cars, nothing special on handling accept for the newest C63 amg..

The difference is not on the rpms or the weight or etc. My guess is they are draging higher above sea level and NA engines won´t perform as well as turbo engines at higher altitudes.

With a small blackbox you can increase your 135i / 335i to 351 hp without modding the ECU. Box was deleoped and made in Germany and installation is done within 15 mins. Interested ? Send me a private message.

No the 135 was starting at 2500 rpm and the M3 started around 3000 rpm The 135 has a flat dash and the M3 has the ass shaped double humps (dash and nav screen) The first car they start the video in on the start is the 135.... Look more closely next time.

twin turbos rock add a chip and you are almost at m3 stock power for less then a grand do the math........ M3 is awsome car and would pick that over anything but not when it cost almost 25 k more then the 135i. For 25K you can make the 135i a real race car where stock m3 couldn't even compare.

That being said, the 135i is a WAY BETTER deal, because with the 20,000 you save, you can put a dinan stage 3, and a Full suspension on the 135i which would make it a better performance car than the M3 and still have like 5,000 left to gamble!!

Not true. The M3 will still eat up that 135, tuned or not around the track. I suggest you look up dinan 335i tuned which was 500HP 450 torque and still got beat around the track by the e92 M3.
Also, being that you are a 135 owner, you'd know the 135i has atrocious braking compared to the M3.
But in all, I agree. BMW owners should stand together, fuck the Japanese imports!!! :D

the e46 M3 even got 12.9 when launched perfectly at sea level in cooler temperatures. i admit that there will be a variation in 1/4 mile time slips between the new E92 M3. but what i'm referring to is the car being driven by a professional at sea level, with good traction and temperatures below 60f.

Don't forget, the 135i will hold peak HP longer than the E92 M3. It has more torque than the M3, earlier. The M3 is a very nice car, but it is like driving a 6 cylinder version of a S2000 or RSX-S. High-strung engine which will only hit peak HP at redline. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have an M3 over a 135i any day of the week, but the numbers aren't surprising. Throw a tune and some bolt-ons on a 135i, and you have an 11 second car, if you have the tires to put that kind of power down.

I think the 135i is chipped, apparently a chip alone boosts power from 300HP to 450HP.
One way to be for sure is to see what BMW lists for 0-60 and 1/4 mile specs on their website, I'm going to take a look now actually.
