I don't think that was the problem, I think it was running so hot that the solder melted, letting the wire come off, touching positive and negative together....:)

@MegaKawiBoy Ha ha yes that is a problem with the VXL-3s. the thermal shutdown can sometimes malfunction and turn of when the esc is warm or just not shut it off at all.. Good observation I completely forgot about that problem

VXL ESCs run around 60-100 bucks-depends where you get it and what kind.

Same thing happend to me with my bandit VXL... its from the esc getting too hot from high gearing and it lets out this weird ooz that keeps the speed control from completly blowing up

The ESC and RX are water proof. Motor is not. That sucks.

First things first, future fire fighter right there. =)

Second, Lipo and water is the worst combo ever. Almost all traxxas cars/trucks are waterproof on the NiMH batteries. But Lipo packages say not to use in water.

ive never had this happen but the first thing i wouldve done was removed the body so the heat could escape and water could put it out, not to mention it wouldve saved you a 25$ lexan body :)

Your mind just goes crazy when you see your car like that so I wasn't really 100% with it at the time...

i have (had) a castle SCT esc and it burned up like that, what you did was not the smartest thing to do. Next time that happens pull off the body as fast as you can and un-plug the battery to try to save it. if you dont your truck will literally burn to the ground.

was it waterproof?I bought a Venom Fireball for my old XL-5, went good for 5 minutes and then, hence the name, the motor went up in flames, I was able to save my rusty
