  • Very cool.

  • you know, I watched all the way till the end of this video thinking if it's going to fly..... I felt exactly the same way when I broke into the Airport in GTA III. Got on a plane all excited that I was going to fly that damn plane. .... don't konw how many times I tried to lift that thing..... but anyway, this Fossil looks fantastic! love the coloring and mechanics. I would deffinately put it my desk! nice vid!

  • This is a great machine. Of course, people who criticize have better ones, right? I wish mine would work like that. They´re static but are this kind of mechanical insects too. Love it.

  • i was waiting for the thing to fly off!!!!!

  • Kinetic and potential energy deals with energy transference, The type of energy doesn't matter.

  • that's all that it moves? make it fly! :) (u can do it!)

  • DONT FLY ?

  • dragonflys are my favorite :)

  • Aww, c'mon don't bash the guy, at least it looks cool.

  • have a look at ''solar powered revolving VW campervans model''

  • I love the idea, but my novice brain thinks Kinetic = Hit something it moves

  • The music and the sculpture are both awesome. Analog electronica rocks!

  • una mierda este video culiao... yo pense que iba a volar y lo unico que hizo fue mover con cuea las alas, que lo mas seguro el weon que esta grabando las estaba soplando

    conchudo!

  • that's the most amazing thing I ever seen...................... just kidding jaja very funny still trying!!

  • it still looks good thats the only thing i like about it

  • what a peice of crap it cant even fly and so what if its solar powerd i'd still rather have a remote controlled air plane and alll that thing does is twich

  • muy bueno!

  • 0:29

Hey, a fly. (bottom middle to bottom left!)

    0:54

    And it's baaack!

I actually spent most of the time watching your carpet, looking for moving things. But that doesn't mean I don't like Fossil, no, it's beautiful!!

  • but doesn' fly..

  • cool

  • sculpture yes awesome, but not very kinetic, but still nice:)

  • a nice work of art in its own right... that it happens to be a kinetic sculpture - a bonus...

    ki·net·ic (k -n t k, k -). adj. 1. Of, relating to, or produced by motion. 2. Relating to or exhibiting kinesis. [Greek k n tikos, from k n tos, moving, ...

  • İnsan oğlu doğayı taklit ediyor. Bir robot geliştirmişler. İlham kaynağı Yüce Yaradan.

  • Someone have a heart, please! Step on it and put it out of it's misery already.

  • Como el pico!!! la wea e mosca culiA. Gringos culiaos hacen puras weas, mamones. Copian y copian mal los weones xupenla maracos culiaos

  • can it fly?

  • does sculptures fly ?

  • RUBBISH!!

  • You must be British.

  • Rofl you sad twat get a life

  • So...you must be British. Someone told me calling a limey, British is like calling a black man a n*****. XD

    Spot of tea gov'nor?

  • @gwilli24 Hey maaaan, wazzup dude! How's it going? Did you see that movie last night?I was like, like, DUDE! <-- American. :D

  • Agree! It is rubbish !

  • It's nice and all, but the wings are twitching? :/

  • excellent!!

  • I love dragonflyes and I do love yours! Really amazing.

  • You know - it never ceases to amaze me how many stupid inconsiderate non-creative (considering they can't think of any better discriptive words to use than profanity) ignorant people just feel free to post "ugly" comments about others unique work. Their mama's didn't raise 'em right! Anyway - this piece is wonderful and thanks for posting it so that some (!) of us can appreciate it!

  • @artsaveslives77 I agree. Fuckwits who use profanity in their comments should fuck off.

  • SO!!??? no Flying

  • Are those capacitors that make up the tail?? Awesome! :D

  • Good start! Love to see what you do next.

But lose the music, please. Irritating and distracting.

  • I wouldn't even call this a kinetic sculpture... kinetic means "in motion" and I'm seeing little but twitching... I would just call this "solar powered stationary dragonfly"

  • beautiful piece, fantastic actually but what the fuck were you thinking when you picked this music?

  • @bitchslapper2006 lol at "but what the fuck were you thinking when you picked this music?"

  • It does say Kinetic sculpture in the title. It's like a statue that moves.

  • wat does this thing even do?????????/

  • It's a kinetic sculpture. Meaning, it's like a statue with movement. Imagine a giant dragonfly decoration that twitches every once in a while, like a real one would.

  • Not to knock a great design, I would add more cells if you can do so without hurting the aesthetics do you have room to add enough to make it almost continuous motion?

  • Is that all it does? It looks like its being blown by the wind. Very exciting.

  • wtf is it gona fly or what !

  • so boring dude im sorry

  • No, no instantaneous solar power will power the machine. Photovoltaic is too weak, you need battery or microwave radiation for it to power up. We are hoping to see your updated video in youtube around the corner.

  • A praying mantis would make a good one :)

  • Brilliant. As with your other pieces a lot of work must havd gone into this and i'd say it was well worth it.

  • A lot of effort went into that, but it looks like it needs more power, nice object and artistic.

  • The only reason why marblemad thinks it's justified to call his sculpture kinetic, is because he thinks it sounds cool.

  • that... or it's because it's a kinetic sculpture.

  • my empty beer can is kinetic too.

  • boringgggg....

  • Do you even understand the concept of kinetic energie? This thing is electric.

  • Well lets see....The sun converts nuclear energy into light energy which is collected by the solar panels and converted into electrical energy. That energy is then converted by the motors and coils in my machine into ...."Kinetic Energy" apart from a small portion that is converted back into light by the little LED at the front.

  • Damn. premiumtap got owned. o.0

  • No I did not, marblemad is just too dumb deserve a reply, he is only describing the process of photosynthesis. His sulpture is electric powered and not kinetic.

  • photosynthesis? Oh yes I wrote at length about how my sculpture utilizes chlorophyll to manufacture sugars in order to power the motors.

Are you debating where my sculpture gets its power from? There's a hint in the title of the video.

  • @MarbleMad even a lump of coal technically has kinetic energy. It's a cool sculpture, but when you say kinetic sculpture, I think people are expecting a little more movement than tiny vibrations. That said, I do like the metalworking very much and the segmentation on the dragonfly is well done, I just feel like it's lacking something in the kinesis department

  • @slacker7667 A lump of coal only has kinetic energy if its moving, K=1/2 m v^2

  • @Prankster10001 Only if you discount the molecular motion of the constituent atoms. I know their mass is infinitesimal, but there are billions of them in a lump of coal, and they deserve a voice. That motion (which is represented by the velocity of a mass) is what leads to heat and temperature and whatnot.

  • @slacker7667 There is so much wrong with your comment I don't even know where to begin but here it goes. First of all I do discount the molecular motion because "molecular motion" does not have anything to due with Kinetic Energy in a solid object. "Molecular motion", or the atoms in the compound are shaking back and forth but this "energy" is thermal energy. Second the mass of an atom is not infinitesimally small because by definition that would also make the lump of coal's mass infinitesimally

  • @Prankster10001 You're assuming that you're trying to look at the energy of the the lump of coal as it interacts with other objects on a macro level. However this premise was never established. I simply said that there is kinetic energy within the object. I wiki'd it just to be sure "Microscopically, the thermal energy is the kinetic energy of a system's constituent particles, which may be atoms, molecules, electrons, or particles in plasmas." And your last point: Xeno's Paradox.

  • @slacker7667 small. Further more are you retarded? Or just 12 thinking you know everything about chemistry/physics ?

  • wat... kinetic is a moving force :D. hair dryers turn electric energy into kinetic energy. the fan moves :D

  • It's powered by electric energy, not kinetic energy. His sculpture may produce kinetic energie, but is not driven by it.

  • * His sculpture may produce kinetic energie, but is not powered by it.

  • it didnt say it was powered by kinetic energy lol. it says. solar powered, kinetic sculpture.. we cud argue all the time bout it butt.... marblemad is it possible to change your wording? lol might clear up alot of questions

  • Premiumtap! Have you ever watched the film alien 3? There's a guy called 85 on it. Do you know why? I think you do don't you.....

  • You do have a point. It technically isn't a kinetic sculpture if it is not driven by kinetic energy.

However it is still a very intriguing piece. Would solar power be enough to run some simple gears if leveraged properly? I'd like to see a smooth movement so that it's more convincing that it is actually moving and not simply being blown by the wind.

    Really nice looking piece though.

  • @premiumtap Do you know what kinetic art means? This art piece is considered to be one and IS a kinetic sculpture. Kinetic art is art in motion (whether it uses electric motors, nature - like wind and sound, or viewer involvement - meaning people cranking it).

Furthermore, he/she is referring to kinetic sculpture, NOT kinetic energy! This is indeed an electric-motor-driven machine but it's still considered as a kinetic sculpture.

  • @premiumtap lmao u got owned :D!

  • @premiumtap oh jesus...

  • I think your sculptures are brilliant... this one, and the clawed hand, are my favourites, great idea... what beautiful pieces. Only constructive criticism would be that your vids could be a bit shorter. Cool to see your paper kits in DWA too.. I have some of those! =P

  • I don't see how you could have deduced its sexual behaviour from its flightless nature but Kudos to you and your superbly well developed gaydar.

  • OH NUTS.

I just accidentally deleted 3 posts here. If yours was one of the 3 please don't think I was trying to censor you or anything.. it was just a slip of the mouse :(

Please feel free to re-post your comments.

  • When I build ones that do fly they're gone before i can start the camera.

  • nope,not really

  • It can fly as well as any brick.

  • does it really fly?

  • hehehe it looks so good as it could fly, but it doesn't it just shakes alittle at least it looks good, i think it better be an experiment in progress

  • I love it!!! damn you should sell those, you make them LOOK really good apart from mechanics!!

  • d'you not like the mechanics? that's all they are :)

  • My bad then, chap. I said apart from that they are mechanical (which I adore) they also look good. that needs a talent ;)

  • Oh I follow you now. Thanks :)

  • bueno pero esta en progreso?

  • nice, but does it fly?!
