All machines are liable to be defective. Mac's are not exempt. Perhaps one of the best reasons to get a Mac is because of the excellent Apple repair. It took them four days to repair it (faster than any other OEM) to replace the motherboard, keyboard and screen, all of which they detected were faulty. How much did the repair cost? Nothing. It was free. Most OEMs would have charged a repair fee, even if you are on a warranty.
Actually, your wrong, My OEM (Lenovo/IBM) replaced my entire computer, but it was still the actual computer that i sent in, and my hard drive failed, and they were still able to recover all my files. And I was on warrenty, no charges, 3 days, sent it one day, they got it the next day, and i got it back the next.
I said most OEMs, not all. Learn to read things properly. Replacing a machine is different as well. Requires no work. If I needed this machine replaced, which I've done with Apple before, it takes only an hour or so. I drive to an Apple store, tell them it's defective and request a new model (if it's still under the first 14 days of purchase), they give me a new machine. I'm at the Apple store for less than 20 minutes.
First of all you stated that they "detected" that also the keyboard and screen were defective, how is it defective? This was related to heat cycles and improper GPU bump material, nothing else. You also don't state whether you were under warranty or not, so don't go stating how great and far up the ass of Steve Jobs your head is fuckhead.
i have an 1st gen macbook pro and i play call of duty on vista and it never lags on my or anything so i suggest stickin with t the 1st gen its cheaper anyway
yo man im not trying to be a dick but you really should have got a alienware laptop or any pc if you game alot man cuz you can edit videos and game way better
Not really. Final Cut Pro, a Mac only video editor, has 50% of the editing market-share. It's far better to own a Mac if you're a professional video editor since it's the only machine capable of running 100% of the market-share's NLE's.
The machine locking up isn't caused by a video card most of those laptops have an integrated card in the motherboard just good enough to run the OS X it's just apple failing hard at operating systems. Though the graphical glitch is most definitely the 9600
Dude. Do some research. The 9600 isn't an integrated graphics card. And no it's not OS X that's just doing this, it happens in Windows a crap ton of times.
Of course it's under warrenty. All Apple products have a 1 yer warrenty to boot (which I plan to extend next month). The main purpose of this video is to help the Apple genius guys understand fully what is happening (I may film more footage for them).
PC fanboy's can say what they want, all products can have a defective batch, especially products which are entirely new like this laptop.
The answer is simple. Get a PC.

there's a couple of things that could be going wrong, aside from your video card.
1.) you're using an external mouse, and any external 3rd party things can cause problems.
2.) you're using windows. apple supports windows and gives drivers for it, but if problems happen on it, they're not at fault.
could be the video card, who knows. but there's these side issues that might be causing it.
the graphic glitch looks like an ipod commercial. he he he.

Nice ending song fits perfectly! :D
Anyways, the video card might be overheating too much, or your page file is screwing up while using that card. I think it is overheating.

The first model I had overheated. This one sometimes overheats, but rarely. Left 4 Dead isn't exactly a hardware pusher.
MacintechStudios 3 years ago
mine almost overheated, when I closed my laptop for 30 minutes in the bag(while COD 4 was running at all high settings)
I was so scared because I smelled some sort of plastic that was burning... and I thought it was the video card! Good thing it's still alive though:))

are you going to take it back it's still under warranty right? man PC fanboys are going to have a field day with this
